It's very quiet here...the clock is just about ready to strike midnight, We arrived at the lake at about 10:00 p.m. and we put away everything we need for the next 2 weeks up here. I'm looking forward to a lot of things...relaxing, eating healthy and getting moving a little bit more than I do at home. Of course we will have our little outings but for the most part...I can sit and have coffee for as long as I want {without kids humming in and out.} I can look out at the lake while I do this and know I am in a special place.
But for some reason, tonight, I am feeling a little melancholy {baby}. Leaving behind the kids...my big comfy bed that is SO much better than this bed here...missing Abby beside me reading...a whole 16 days with just The Husband. I crave this place on weekends and so looked forward to being here and not having to pack my duffel bag after 3 days. I am SO not trying to come off spoiled or ungrateful...God knows how hard all of you work and live for your weekends. I sound like a Pollyanna sometimes.
Mostly, this is The Husbands vacation. He works so hard. But he can't sit still. I am a loner and I love to sit in my rocker...pictured above, and just stare out at the water, daydreaming a bit.
I was thinking of posting every day while I was here on the lake...just a little post to share what we did and maybe a little more of my feelings and perceptions of the world around me. Would that be boring??
For now, have a good night. Tomorrow I am going to try to spend the day outdoors, the heck with the heat...I need some fresh air. I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend! :-)

Hi Jane
Sounds like you have the best of both - vacation and staycation.
I would love to read your daily journal posts and hear about life Lakeside, I'm sure it wouldn't be at all boring.
Wishing you two peaceful weeks of R&R.
Maggie
I'd love to do that for a few days, then I would start going crazy! Or repaint the entire cottage!!
I sounds heavenly! Post to your hearts content my dear...I for one will be here reading...I love to hear what peeps are up to!
Love,
LuLu~*xoxo
We would enjoy it if you would do a post each day telling us what you did at the lake. Have a marvelous time and a relaxing stay!
Oh, how I envy you. Being able to get away from it all and unwind. I could sure use a trip like that.
Have a nice time and keep on daydreaming.
hugs
Sissie
How wonderful to have two weeks in your favorite getaway place Jane! Always love all your photos and your posts...never boring!
hugs,
paula:)
I understand, Jane. Melancholy hits me sometimes, too. I hope you've got some interesting novels and get some magazines, too. I would love to read your posts while you're there. They don't have to be long if it gives you something to do. I work during the day, but most evenings and weekends I'm a loner, too. That's my project time, or moving things around time without someone asking me what I'm doing! ; )
I hope you and the Hubby have a wonderful and restful vacation! I would love to hear what you are doing each day! I post every day, boring or not... it is my journal!
Have a blessed day dear Jane, HUGS!
I hope you enjoy your break by the lake. Take time to sit on that comfy chair and relax, and, if you have time to blog, then I will be glad to read about your holiday and live vicariously through you! Just remember to enjoy being with your sweet hubby and go with the flow.
Best wishes always,
Natasha.

you have a restful holiday and please do keep us updated,, besides I think its health to say how one feels,,
Enjoy the down time Jane....you are going to have a busy time ahead.
It sounds like the perfect time a way to me. I know it is hard to relax and be in the moment. I always feel like I have to be doing something constructive.
Hugs,
Penny
Oh my! A week of "...a little more of my feelings and perceptions of the world around me" posts would be DELIGHTFUL! Totally delightful! -clapping hands-
There!
Does that constitute a Vote YES, on your possible plan? :-))))) If not, I can repeat it. -gigggles-
See, I really like to get to know *inside* my blogging buddies, as well as *outside,* as it were.
*Outside* is our home and clothes and trips and cooking and etc.
*Inside* is what goes on, in our minds and hearts and wishes and plans and just plain ol' musings.
I do this kind of blogging, at times. (Been there, of late, with my nostalgia for an idealized Olden Time) Wish more bloggers would do it. Kind of open up on their musings....................... :-)
Hope you do follow through, My Dear!
Oh, How very fun....I would love to read of your day to day vacation. And then dream of when my time will come... (hoping to sign on our new cottage this coming week :) Though I'm sure that my 1st few months at the cottage will be cleaning & painting, but I am looking forward to driving up alone & spending some loner time...:)
Relax & Enjoy!!!!
Enjoy the lake. I hope you do post everyday. Hope you get a chance to do some antiquing. A visit to Twin Bays(?) would be good therapy. LOL.
Jane, what a joy it is to read your blog. I come often but don't always post. Your post touched me today because I can so relate. As I type this I am sitting here having my coffee sitting in a large redwood chair with sheepskin cover looking out over the lake where we have our getaway place. It's quiet as this weekend the husband and I have the place completely to our ourselves. I know when I first became an empty nester, I would come here and be so melancholy because I missed my children so desperately and felt my purpose was fulfilled. I did not know what my life would be after they grew up. I've always been a stay at home mom. Well fast forward several years now and I am at a happy place. I volunteer for causes near and dear to my heart and find such joy in doing that. I pick and choose the days and times. It's just enough. Then, I like you, can come to this place, and read, reflect, and become renewed! I hope you enjoy the next 2 weeks of total R&R with the husband! Blessings and please post daily. I always enjoy reading!
I think that many of us are drawn to people who have different interests. It makes for a more interesting life and marriage. It keeps things fresh. It's nice to hear about a couple who have different interests...sharing their lives together. Use your blog to keep a journal while you are there...many readers will enjoy it.

Good morning, Jane. I hope the melancholia departs and allows you to do the things you enjoy during your holiday. At the very least you can rest and recharge and be ready for all the things that will be waiting for you at the end of the two weeks.
Have a wonderful two weeks resting and gazing at the water! Enjoy yourself!
I rarely go to our cabin. It is just not my thing. Husband loves it. Grown sons love it. Me? Nope. I especially don't want to drive for
3 1/2 hours on a Friday night and then the same back on Sunday so I can try and get some laundry done and back to work on Monday.
Keep us posted on the day to day. Enjoy your quiet times. Daydream. Breathe and relax.
Hi Janie ~ thanks so much for visiting me! I hope your vacation is peaceful and relaxing. I really crave alone time sometimes. I need it to think and reenergize. And a daily post from you would not be boring at all!!
Hi Jane, I just know you are going to have a relaxing stay at the cabin. How relaxing to look out at water. Enjoy your time!
Donna
HI JANE!!!
ENJOY your time and please keep us posted as to what you are doing....we shall all live through you at this lovely lake house!!!!I agree about working hard and playing hard, we all need a little break from ordinary and live at a place where we can be spontaneous.....I love that!!
have fun
hugs,
jamie
Hi Jane, Enjoy your time at the lake and the peace and quiet. I would enjoy reading a daily journal. I visit I just don't always get to leave a comment. Sometimes blogger won't let me. We had a good day. The morning started off stormy with the thunder, lightening, and heavy rain. I went to get my mammogram done. It was normal made me feel great. Made like a little circle. we go one way and come home another. I would love to sit in your chair and look out on the lake. One vacation our room was on the lake. I didn't realize how much till we were taking a cruise on the lake and looked back. If I had known it was over the water that much, I might have been chicken and got a different one. We could watch the water activies. There is something sloothing about water. Have a great vacation. Your Missouri Friend.
I just know this will be a great time for you Jane. It's okay to be a little bit of a loner. I am one too. I love my own company...left alone with my thoughts.
Nooo, it wouldn't be boring to post about your days of bliss.
sending hugs...
Jane, you two have fun, rest, and reflect. Post or not when you feel like it. I always enjoy everything you write about. hugs♥olive
Sounds like two awesome weeks just relaxing:)
Blessings,
Linda
That would not be boring to me at all, Jane! You just post your little heart out and I will read every word.
MyHero is a lot like that too. He has to be doing something every minute and then I feel guilty if I am NOT doing something oo. Except at night he totally crashes and watches old TV.
Sometimes when I get away I am almost overwhelmed at having the time to do SOMETHING-and not know what SOMETHING I really want to do. And, I miss the kids when I am gone, too.
Have a wonderful time, Sweetie-You so deserve it! xo Diana
Sounds like you're a little homesick already...but try to relax and enjoy your quiet and alone time! Yes, I am envious...I would love to have time away like that. Last vacation I had was almost 2 years ago and we were on the go all the time (in San Francisco). Are you surprised to know that I have high blood pressure?! lol Anyway, you can use some of your time to stop on over at my blog and say hello! ;-)
Hi Jane. Aah, sounds like a peaceful getaway. I've been telling my hubby that we need to get away for a weekend at least. Hopefully soon. I've missed your blog. I hope to be back in full force.
Blessings,
Sandra
Not boring at all...it will be fun to live vicariously!
