FINDING INSPIRATION

We have a simple weekend planned, or you might say no plans at all!  I haven't forgotten about making that pie...I'm going to "tackle" it again when The Husband is watching the Bears game tomorrow!

One other thing, while I've been a little slow getting around to visit all of you, I was really surprised when I received a few emails from some blogging friends wondering where I've been, if we were still friends...I felt terrible.  I looked into it by going to their blogs and I found I was no longer on their list of Followers, so, they weren't coming up on my blogroll.  I checked out a few other blogs I normally see pretty often and hadn't and sure enough, not following.  I have no idea how this has happened, but I want you to be honest and speak up in the comment section of this post and let me know if you've been wondering why I haven't visited your blog.  This could be the problem and I can then pop over and re~follow.  Thanks so much.

Have a great weekend everyone! :)

Your garden will look so pretty in the spring with the bulbs. You "done good" with the new seat for the little bench, and plans for a pie too, a worthy project.
Please see if you are still following my blog, I think you are, dear one.

I hope you are still following me, Janie. I would hate to lose you, but I am following you so hopefully will not be separated from you. I would hate that as we have been blogging buddies for years. I appreciate your sweet words about Mom's death. We miss her so much.

I love the doggie neckwear, and I like what you did with the plates and the footstools.

I am still recuperating so I am inside, trying not to over log and hurt my hand like I did the other day. I love to visit, though. We are alike in that respect.

Sending you big hugs for a nice weekend with your favorite guy!

Footstool. I meant singular, not plural. :-)

I think you did a fine job on recovering the footstool.
I used to sew a lot but haven't for a long time
Love the doggie neck thingy. So cute!

Hi Jane - I can't believe you journal your plants. That's amazing. I never even know the name of my plants - LOL.

Have a great weekend. The dogs look great in their attire!

Wow, the footstool looks so much better! I think it's fine the way it is, it has a clean, crisp look. The at Home with country book is beautiful, I love that look and I always need inspiration to pull a room together. Sometimes it is just so much help to have the whole picture to look at!

I love the pics of the sweet pups! I'm tempted to buy Holly a Halloween costume, but since cats aren't very fond of dressing up, I'll probably skip it. :) I make notes of my plants in a journal too. I write which ones did well in the sun/shade, etc. and how long into the season they lasted. It's always helpful the following season to see exactly what worked and what didn't. The vanity bench looks great! You picked a nice fabric for it. I still haven't found any fabric I like to recover my bar stools with, but now I think I may just keep the current fabric and paint the wooden legs and seat back white. It's pouring here now, so that's good. We still need rain desperately. Hope you get your bulbs planted soon. Take care!

Hi Jane, Thanks for stopping by my blog. We have a mutual friend in Melanie. She is a sweetheart! As for the footstool, in the future, if you don't want the sharp corners, wrap the foam with batting before you place the fabric on. I think you did a fine job. Pie sounds perfect for this rainy Autumn day. Have a great weekend. Penny

Have a great week end.

Hi Jane,
I wish that I had the energy and the "knees" to be an avid gardener
like you. Years ago I kept a garden journal and would take pictures of new plantings to see their progress. Now that we are living in the coastal area I find gardening is tougher so I'm sticking to pots and simple seasonal plants to fill in the landscape.
Love the doggies outfits. My kitties would run like crazy if I tried to put something on them!

I noticed that I was missing on some blog rolls too. Wonder why this is happening!

Your footstool tuned out well. If you used a staple gun sometimes you can pull the corners tight and staple them forming a rounded edge.
But I think the squared edges look fine.

Glad you are enjoying your fall. Good luck planting your bulbs.

hugs
Sissie

Lovin' the pups Halloween costumes Jane! I really think a garden journal would be very helpful. No matter how hard we try... We just can't remember it all-happy planting:@)

Hi Jane... first off, I love the new pic on your sidebar of you and Al on the beach... so fun!... and of course I love Layla and Milo in their Halloween bandanas... I got Tessy one today with pumpkins on it... she actually has more Autumn sweaters and clothes than I do I think!... how nice you found a garden journal to jot notes down in... I could not get by without mine!... your little vanity stool you did looks great!... please check and see if I am still on your blogroll... I have lost some as well... but yours was not one of them... some ladies visit sporadically... or only when I visit them... so not sure where I am with anybody anymore... but yours always come through my dashboard... happy rest of the weekend to you... I am doing some fall housecleaning today while it is too cold to be outside much... always good to get that done... and lingering with coffee over fav magazines... xoxo Julie Marie

Oh I never wonder about such things other than to wonder if someone is still blogging...I am shocked by all those who are not and miss them.

You stay so busy and are interested in so many things. I'm glad that you'll be able to use the plate racks at home. And doing your own upholstery is pretty cool, too.

Gardening changed for me when I started recording in a gardening journal. I drew little diagrams that were really helpful. I record dates...the next date will be the first frost, which we have been lucky to avoid thus far.

Brian and I spent the day cleaning out the entire garage, covering all the patio furniture and the AC, digging up a few herbs and planting them in pots and bringing them indoors, putting out some pumpkins for decor...we got a lot done! Watched a movie this weekend, then we were "bad" and ran and got hotdogs and fries at 9 pm! Darn movie had the main character eating a Chicago 'dog and we hadn't had dinner since we had such a late lunch, so then we were both like, "Now we want a hotdog", lol. I love the plate racks and plates in your bedroom; looks beautiful and serene.

Hi there sweet friend! I love the plate decor! AND you did an awesome job on the stool:) Great idea to journal about your plants. I did something similar when we built the house but have not updated it. Thanks for the reminder to do that:) Have a blessed day, HUGS!

Your pups look so cute in their halloween clothes.Layla has such a contented look on her face.
The plates were a wonderful idea...they do add a bit of femininity to your bedroom. I thing the lamp with a new shade is perfect there.
I have bulbs to plant too, but have had to put it off because of the same reason.I hope to finish up this week.
Have a restful weekend.Sometimes we need to do nothing :)

You get so much done these days! You inspire me. I need to find out when to plant bulbs since we moved to Texas. It's still pretty warm here...yesterday it was a balmy 89 degrees. My summer plants are actually still pretty but the crepe myrtle leaves are beginning to turn orange. :)

I can totally identify with the asthma issue. My allergies are in full swing and it makes working difficult. I am allowing myself to be a little lazier than usual.

I too am trying to finish our bedroom. I thought I was just about there and realized one of the lamps is just not right in its spot, but I have no idea what I want.

Debbie said...

I have that exact same lamp! I don't care for the shade, so I drape a lace doily over it. The plates in the racks look wonderful!!
The festive collars the pups are wearing are just too cute.
You are always such a busy gal, Jane.
Take some time to kick back, and relax today.

Our friends were at the cabin for the weekend and brought their dog with them and she had a bandana that looks just like your pups!

I used to journal my garden stuff...or I tried might be a better way of putting it. Then I got lazy and everything went to pot.

The stool looks fabulous! If you want to soften corners in the future just put some batting around it, but it looks great as is.

I'm loving fall right now and trying to take in every last miinute as I know we will be leaving soon. If you can grow dahlias, don't miss my post today as you will want to take a look at the website I mention. Your projects are coming along. So much energy you have!

I love the dog costumes! So cute. Great foot stool too. :) Don't you worry about visiting, once I follow, I follow forever. I think it is very rude to unfollow. We all have times when we are busy and sometimes a blog will go a different direction, like friendships can sometimes do, but once a friend always a friend. :) Kit

Looking forward to seeing the finished room. I too love Christina's books and her style. I used snippets of hers and French General to give me ideas for our recent bedroom makeover. I used to hear from you, so don't know if I've 'dropped off' or if it's just you haven't seen anything worth commenting on lol! Hope you manage to get those bulbs in soon.

Layla and Milo look great in their Halloween wear! Your garden will look great in the spring, Jane. I think the garden journal is a great idea. I have plant markers in my garden but noticed the other day that the writing is wearing off of some of them - need to re-label them while I still remember their names! lol
Your footstool looks great. You are very talented!

The plates are the perfect way to bring in little pops of color...good thinking! We are raining today and I even turned on the fireplace. I also am sitting in my chair with the dog and a blanket and don't feel like moving. This is how I feel all winter...ugh, I hope it holds off a while. I need sunshine to have energy!

Hi, Jane! I need to heed your advice about taking care of business while the temps are still good. I have been busy trimming our many roses and enjoying every minute of it! I need to buy some more bulbs and have the gardener (Brad) plant them! His thumb is much greener than mine!

Have fun planting your bulbs, don't stress about it. Some how it all gets done. You did a great job on the bench, blog land does help you stretch your possibilities doesn't it? My mom always kept a garden journal, seeing yours made me think of her and put a smile on my face.

You are so smart! I really need to write down my plants etc.. I always forget what is what and like you my yard work is weighing heavily on my mind. It's still been kind of hot here, it's supposed to cool off next week, I'd rather do yard work when it's cooler. I love your plate wall too! Very pretty plates! Now, go make yourself a lampshade ;) you know they do it all the time here in bloggyland.

Hi Jane! Loving your tweaking. LOVE LOVE LOVE the plate wall and those plates are so pretty. I had to take my blog roll off when I moved to wordpress. I follow now via email a lot of blogs and bloglovin because it is easier that way. I think google did something and it messed up blog rolls. Enjoy the fall tweaking!

The dogs are adorable in their Halloween outfits. I am not planting bulbs this year, I think I have enough that come back every year. I must have gotten taken off of your blog list too-I never get a comment from you. For some reason hardly anyone visits me anymore-maybe I offended everybody! Hope not.
