As I mentioned in my last post, we were going to Cedarburg on Friday. We went last year right after Thanksgiving and you can read about it here. We actually stayed in the same room at the same inn as last year so I'm not including pictures.
Cedarburg, Wisconsin is a really sweet town just north of Milwaukee and about 2 1/2 hours from where we live in Chicago. The town was built along the Cedar Creek River. The falls are beautiful, I took this standing on a bridge. Shortly after we met Cindy (from Applestone Cottage) and her husband Dan at the nearby Anvil Pub and Grille. Having not seen each other since the summer of 2012 (we meet up once a year), we had a great time talking and catching up. Good times!
So here I am Monday morning making my plans for the week. My head is spinning with everything I have to do and everything I want to do! Even though it was just Abby here for the weekend, it's going to take awhile to get everything in order. My spring tulip bulbs came and since its such a great sunny day and who knows what tomorrow may bring, I need to get them in the ground. Last week I cut the last of my flowers and I have vases all over the house. No frost yet though.
I started cleaning out the garage last week. I know, this is exciting news. The fact of the matter is, it is a total dumping place of old furniture, lawn mowers that don't work, bicycles from another era...you get the picture. I was just going about my business taking the trash out Wednesday afternoon and decided I couldn't stand it anymore. So I just started dragging and hauling things to the curb, making piles and filling up extra cans. I felt like the ant in that song about the rubber tree plant and high hopes! No matter how big and bulky something was, I just thought, I can do it! It took me over an hour and I got half of it clean. I was just afraid to put too much at the curb. So on Wednesday I will finish it up. And that's a relief! Next I'm moving on to the office, less dirty but it could be life threatening if I throw something important out! lol!
Okay..I hope you all had a great weekend and have good plans for the week ahead. Look out for Cindy's post about our trip! I'll be back soon! :)
XO,
Jane

I completely understand the 'cleaning out'. We are doing that in our basement... emptied boxes last week and now need to make of a list of items., including furniture pieces we are donating. Just want things GONE.. simplify so to speak.. Love your girly get together. Looks like a very fun time! xox
Jane ... it's always fun to read about your world. Some how, it makes mine feel dull and boring, but I'm thinking positive and will try to pull myself up out of my easy chair and start having some fun...or clean out a shed or something.
You're a delight!!!
I loved seeing the pictures of my two beautiful pals! What a fun trip you had. Thanks for the good report.
Love your bedroom redo, too!
xo,
Sheila
I am loving all of your changes especially that sign over your bed:) SO sweet! Enjoy your week dear friend, BIG HUGS!
Oh that sign is just priceless!!!
Blondie, You are so cute. I love your new sign.I like special touches like that for our bedrooms. The throw is nice too. So happy you, your husband and friends had a great time. It was a nice weekend. xoxo,Susie
It sounds like you had a great time, Jane! Love your new sign over the bed. I am working on our bedroom, too, since the hubby decided we needed to go up to a King size when we were mattress shopping a month ago. It just messed everything up. Just waiting on my new bedskirt which is taking forever to get here.
I always enjoy your posts Jane. I love the new sign in the master bedroom. It says it all very nicely!
Y'all are so cute!! Glad y'all had a good time. Love the new throw and I really like that plant stand by your window. Our garage is the "catch all" for everything too. We've slowly been cleaning it out. We've been waiting all summer to clean it out because it's so hot outside. Fall and Winter are the busy "home improvement" times around here. :) It seems like when the rest of the country is getting ready for winter, we are finally able to enjoy the outdoors. LOL!
Oh I ADORE your new bedroom sign - it's perfect, good acquisition!!
Thanks for sharing your trip with us - always so neat to "visit" new places. I have never been to that part of the country. I hope to one day.
Hugs.
beautiful quote for over the bed, its perfect. You trip away must have been great, I enjoyed the photos so much!
So glad you two were able to get away and that you had the chance to meet up with friends!! And I need to tackle my garage, I started last spring and then lost my enthusiasm, but you've inspired me to get back out there!

Yikes! Your so quick Jane. I will work on my post tonight.
Cute pic of you but I look like someone who hasn't totally opened her eyes for the day.
It sure was fun though!
And Katie is totally jealous of the throw you bought me. hehe.
Love ya gf.
Cindy
Love that sign over your bed! Just perfect. It sounds like a wonderful fall weekend with good friends in a beautiful setting! What could be better!
I cut all my flowers last week too! I've gotten up to a frosty lawn a few mornings but my hanging basket geraniums are still soldiering on. Now it's a science experiment to see how long they can prevail:>) I think your bedroom looks beautiful and I love the sign. I have loved that saying since I first saw it.
So glad that you had a great weekend. Sounds like a lot of fun with your friend. Been to Chicago many many times but never past Detroit. I am sure that it is beautiful there.
Love the sign and it looks great over the head board.
Don't work to hard this week. I need to get to my garage, it's a nightmare.
Mary

Hi Jane,
I love your sign above the bed and it looks great there. I'm glad for you that you have finished decorating your bedroom, I wish I could say the same.
I did most of my cleaning out before we moved but it always has a way of piling up!
Love the picture of you. I swear we could be sisters!

The sign over your bed is so affirming of your love for each other Jane.
How exciting to meet up with an old friend. Especially nice that the husbands get along so well. Have a great weekend and find lots of goodies.

What a lovely getaway with dear friends. I loved every photo. Makes me want to plan a little getaway myself. What a wonderful tradition with dear friends.
Have a lovely week!

Glad you had such a good time in Cedarburg! I love the picture you got to hang over your bed - just perfect in every way (saying, style, fit, color). I had seen and heard about those little libraries online, but I've never seen one in real life either. Have a good week!
The sign over your bed is perfect. Such sweet truth ... not to be taken for granted, these days.
And your trip to Wisconsin reminds me that I need to explore that area sometime.
Enjoy your fall day.
Fondly,
Glenda
The sign is precious! Oh, how I wish I could come visit your area of the world. The pictures are always so pretty. Someday....
I actually stopped by one day and lurked, but was just too lazy to comment, sorry about that, but sometimes I just love to visit and enjoy. Happy Halloween :)
Your master bedroom looks great! That sign is so cute and I like your throw on the bed (apparently Layla does too!).
The take a book leave a book idea is so awesome! What a great idea.
The bedroom looks great, Jane. Love all of the new pieces you've added. The sign is perfect!
I think it's so neat that you can meet up with another blogger for a weekend once a year. How fun!
You gals are both beauties!
I wish I would get off my bum and accomplish something around here. Good job on all the clean up at your house!
xo
Jane,
I love the sign above your bed. It is perfect and beautiful. Love that. So happy to see you had a great time in Cedarburg. I love that town. Everytime I go there I feel like it is home. I think I may have to move there someday.
Kris
Oh Fun! What a great weekend. :)
You always get so much done and have fun all along the way! :)
Regarding your comment on my blog...
It reminded me of the best quote...
"The days are long but the years are short!"
Have a fantastic week!

Love your new sign! It is beautiful!
I really love how your room has turned out Jane. I LOVE the color on the walls.
It sounds like you and Cindy had a great time. I love the photos of you guys together and the one of you in the chair is beautiful!!!
I'm right there with you on having so much to do that I'm not sure what to do first. It sounds like you have been accomplishing so much more than I have :))))))
So I think I'm going out right now and get started.
hugs from me...
Hi Jane, So sweet to meet up with friends, and Cedarburg is lovely in any season. We also love Mequon, just a little south right on the shores of Lake Michigan. Try the Elegant Farmer for crazy good apple pie on the way home... We visit at least a couple of times a year. Best of luck in the garage! Love, Penny
I just love the picture you bought for over your bed! I love the message. I've seen that on pillows before too. Looks like you had a fun trip with Cindy. I have a basement that needs cleaning out before the holidays. I keep putting it off. I need your determination to get it done!
Love the sign and milo's big basket bed. He's such a cutie! I think those library things are the best, each so unique and creative.
Hugs,
Patti
I love visiting with you and think it would be so much fun to do so for real. Your sign is dear and should make your hubby feel very special.
I'm glad you had a lovely time together! I'm up to some of the same things. I'm planting potted bulbs (paperwhites) for the first time ever for the holidays. And I have been hauling things off like crazy. It's so theraputic! So nice to have a word from you on the blog!
Hi Jane... I don't know how I missed this post... I have been waiting to hear about your visit with Cindy... so glad you had a nice time... love that little book library... that would be so much fun... what a great idea to share books that way!... love your new sign above your bed, just perfect!... Happy Halloween to you today!... and no, I won't be dressing up... but Tessy has a cute little Halloween bandana she will wear... xoxo Julie Marie
I love the ant and the rubber tree analogy. Sometimes I feel like that in my garage, attic and work space. I keep the rest of the house clutter free.
That little town looks so cute and fun.
Hi Jane...it all sounds wonderful and I love the new sign above your bed. Perfect! :)
Cindy is one of the kindest, sweetest people I know. You could not have made a better friend! She is a dear heart and so are you. I am proud to have met both of you.
Love,
Mona
Love your sign above the bed. It's perfect. I know what you mean about cleaning out the garage. My space is the storage room in the basement. Feels so good when you get a storage space cleaned out!
Love that wall art over the bed, truly perfect Jane! And I can't blame your doggie for not moving, saw that throw at West Elm and loved it, just didn't grab it since I had one too many throws already. Never been to Cedarburg, only to Milwaukee and Lake Geneva, seems a pretty place to go to with lots of things to see and do. Hope you have a wonderful weekend dear! We enjoyed Chicago a lot last weekend and will be sharing photos we took of the Art Institute and then some probably next week!:-)
Jane, It sounds like you had a great trip! I love your new sign.
Hugs,
Sherry
