HOLIDAY MANTEL PARTY

I'm happy to say that everything is up and decorated and I am on time for the holiday parties. Yay! Today I am joining Kristin of My Uncommon Slice Of Suburbia for the Holiday Bloggers Block Party. Today the party is about mantels and I have finally completed mine and can share it with you.
One thing I haven't changed is that I use real fruit amongst some live greenery...apples, oranges pears and pomegrantes.
Then I just decorate around this with whatever I have that I want to see on the mantel.
There are mercury glass bottles on a galvanized metal stand, mercury glass candle holders in the middle, some candles, ornaments and an Old World Santa {I collect these}.
As you can see, I finally got my tree up! Douglas Firbanks, Jr. turned out to be quite a monster once we brought him in. I still have another bin of ornaments to put on him, so don't look too close!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks Kristin for hosting this fun party! :-)

Your mantle looks lovely Jane....very festive and Christmassy and your tree is magnificent. We don't bring our tree in until next week and, it ALWAYS has to be a real one. Just a tradition that goes way back.
Have fun in the lead up to Christmas. XXXX

I love that you used fresh greenery! I bet is smells so fresh in there. Now, if I used fresh fruit, I could just see myself walking past and grabbing one to munch on everytime I entered the room, lol. Love it!

Jane- It is looking very Christmas-y at your house! Love that you have special ornaments on the tree. I went with plain old red and silver colors on my tree this year and did not drag out the bins of individual ornaments that have been purchased over the years.

I hope you have a wonderful, not-too-busy week! xo Diana

Hi dear Jane,

Lovely and inspirational! What are the holidays without stockings hanging from the mantel?

Jeff has been restoring our little fireplace and will soon make a mantel (other owners tore out the original one) and get it in place so that I can hang the stockings too.

I found a long, thick, (and heavy) piece of virgin redwood (probably 2,000 years old) at the site of a building being earthquake retrofitted. I hauled it home and that is what Jeff is using for wood.

Love to you,

S
