THE LAZY DAYS OF FALL

I've really been enjoying my visits to your blogs.  All the fall decorating is inspiring me.  I might add a thing or two every year if it really catches my eye, but it really is all about creating something new and fresh with what you have.  I hope to get started on that closer to the end of the month (which is flying by!).

So, this is just a short post on one of my lazy days!  I'm having a cup of coffee while the dishwasher hums and a fall candle makes everything smell yummy!  Hope you are having a wonderful day, too! :-)

I love lazy days Jane. It's beautiful here too....like you said, cool and dry. I worked in the yard some and now I am sore....ugh! The guys finally finished up our newly renovated deck today and I can start moving the furniture back on it so we can enjoy our meals out there in this fabulous weather. I think I might paint a rug on it sometime soon. :) xoxo

I have tons of favorite casserole recipes from my family... drop me an email and let me know what you like and I will be happy to share mine with you... all super easy and yummy and healthy!... your Christmas sampler is so cute!... that will be something you treasure year after year... and your flowers are still so pretty!... yes, you need to take some "me" time every single day... I start my day out in quiet solitude and love it... so many things need done all the time, and we ALL need that little time to ourselves to rejuvenate... hope you enjoy the rest of a beautiful day, much love, xoxo Julie Marie

Hi Jane! Happy afternoon!
I'm popping in for a quick visit on my lunch hour. The weather here has been magnificent! September in the Pacific Northwest is the prettiest month of the year.

We are going to Whistler, BC in a few days. The weather forcast continues to be beautiful. I hope to take some nice photographs to share.

I am happy to hear that your planters survived the extreme heat that all of you endured!

As for being lazy, you have managed to inspire some Fall cooking...and holiday handwork. Your Christmas sampler is darling!

Hello Jane, yes, I love having a lazy ole day sometimes. Fall is sneaking in, warm sunny days, cool crisp nights, ahhh yes, wonderful time of year. Your flowers still look pretty, also love the crossstitch picture, great way to spend the day, Blessings Francine.

Hi Jane. I have been enjoying these cooler days as well. YOu can tolerate those 80 degree days when the evenings are cooler.
I swept my porch just a bit ago. Our yard is a mess from the heat and the storms. Think I need some mums to spruce up the yard.
I ussed to cross stitch all the time. I don't think I could now. I did do a needlework sampler in an Amy Powers class. I am now working on a Sarah Jane pattern. It didn't transfer well.....using a iron.....so it hasn't been easy. Where did I find the time when the kids were little.

Your flowers look happy and that's a cute cross stitch project Jane! Enjoy the beautiful days, it's so nice that they're finally here:@)

Hi Blondie, your ivy is beautiful! It stayed warm enough here this past winter that my ivy actually did as well in the winter months as it did this summer! I am so ready for fall, cooler temps, and more time to blog.

We're really thinking of fall around here, though we are still in the 80's. I love your little Christmas cross stitch, I've been working on a Christmas/winter one too. It's so fun to do when you're wishing for cooler temperatures!

It's nice to have som lazy days, Jane! Your flowers are still looking good, and sweeping can wait. Maybe a breeze will blow it away! Soups and casseroles are always a favorite with me too!

Hi Jane...oh, your day sounds so wonderful! I want to be sitting out on my patio with a cup of coffee tomorrow morning, but I don't think that's going to happen. I hate to whine & complain, but tomorrow is one of my work days. I have not liked my job for the 6 years and 4 months that I have been there, & it just keeps getting worse. I had a horrendous day today & I'm practically having a panic attack just thinking about going in tomorrow. Well, enough of that...your flowers still look great. I love impatiens; they seem to hang on for quite awhile! Enjoy your cookbooks...I still have a few new ones that I haven't even cracked open yet. My reading pile is a mile high!

The weather is nice here too:) I am slowly getting in the Fall mood! My decor is in the attic... gotta climb those stairs! I wish I read more! I can't seem to sit still long enough! Perhaps when it is really cool and the ballgames cease or slow down, I will curl up with a good book! Love the flowers and the stitching! Enjoy your evening dear friend, HUGS!

Hi Jane!

I'm in the mood for comfort food too...I made a hearty soup for dinner and it was perfect for this cooler weather.

We won't even mention how my flowers faired this year....

Happy Fall!

My flowers are horrible ~ I was shopping for mums today to replace my wizzled up plants. The lack of rain this summer and me dropping the ball more than once in watering ~ well lets just say taps has been played! Hubby asking for chili so I have added the ingredients to my list for my next trip to the store. Hope you are having a great week. xo

Hi Jane:

Isn't it wonderful to having some relaxing days to enjoy things! I love your cross-stich. I am taking knitting classes now and just love it....I am actually making a afghan for my living room....No hurry though. Your flowers look great still....I won't be decorating for fall here until temps get cooler.

Have a great week!

Isn't it funny how we should have more time and yet we get less done. I do agree that the Me time is important. You work hard all your life and raise your kids then you should be taking time to sit and read those books and sip that coffee.
Me? I have about 8 cross stitch projects that I should be working on. I bought them when I had more time lol.

Jane, I just love reading your cozy descriptions of home life - drinking coffee, enjoying candles, reading, stitching a sampler no less! You make me want to run outside - it is a gorgeous day here, too. Enjoy this time of year!

Have you ever heard of the King Ranch Casserole? A long time recommendation from Texas cooks. :) We had some cooler temps but now is warming up again. I think tomorrow the cool air returns, perhaps with a bit of rain. I love it!

I'm redoing my bedroom and that has been keeping me busy. My s-i-l is going to put together my new headboard tomorrow evening so hopefully I will be finished soon. I painted my nightstand this aft but have to do the finishing "touch" with a bit of bling tomorrow.

Hopefully, I can catch up with everyone soon!

P.S. I used to do needlepoint and then counted x-stitch eons ago. :)

Jane, what a timely reminder to replant my impatiens. They limped through winter and now look very ratty. I must pop some new ones in so they are ready for Christmas. Thanks for the inspiration. Deb

Hi Jane,
Been thinking about you and Al all week, so glad you left the note.
I like your cross stitch, that is going to be quite pretty!
If you can do that, I am sure you could do some basic sewing too! I can't do cross stitch, maybe you can teach me!
The house is quiet right now, very early and I love having this time.
Love ya girlfriend,
Cindy
p.s your flowers still look really good!

We got a cool front today so I too am feeling a bit more like fall decorating. I fixed a ham in the slow cooker tonight. With mashed potatoes & cooked cabbage. Kind of a cool weather meal. HUBBY loved it.

Love your little sampler. My eyes have trouble with that tiny stuff now... I think I need better light. Have a great weekend. HUGS!

Fall is THE BEST! :) Glad you're enjoying its approach, too. The sampler is so pretty! I wish I had the patience for that sort of stitchery. I used to do some embroidery from time to time and I think I could still, if the mood strikes, but no cross stitch for me! I was never able to master it. And your flowers are certainly doing better than anything around here. All of mine have been pulled and tossed. Hoping to pick up some mums tomorrow!

Well, I sure enjoyed catching up, but WAIT! IT IS NOT FALL YET!!! Yes, things did struggle through the heat and humidity of the summer.

I love having a little time to catch up on all the projects I've started, and you're doing the same thing. Now get to work on that sampler. It is adorable.

Sending love across the miles,

Everything is always so peaceful & lovely to visit with you Jane. The stitchery is going to be so pretty when done ... would love to see it in place.

Finally, our bleeding heat has a crisp touch of autumn, misty morns & season changes amongst the plants. So love each season for its individual beauty.

Have a lovely week.

Jane, your planters still look good. Most of my Impatiens are looking ratty now. Guess I should replace them with something Fall-ish. I'm ready for casseroles too, now that it isn't too hot to turn on the oven. I'm sending you one of our favorites. If you don't get it, the email address I have for you may be wrong.

Hi Jane

I know what you mean about casseroles for the cooler months. I have a great list of twenty recipes or so in my side bar (near the top) with some easy and delicious slow cooked meals.

One is Lemon Moroccan Chicken, which is fabulous another is Slow cooked lamb shanks with lentils, which is particularly easy and delicious.... only about 6 ingredients.
