SUMMER TABLESCAPE

Hi everyone!  I am finally feeling like myself again after surviving the 95 degree heat over Memorial Day.  It's back to the 60's and I am loving it.   I plan to plant some flowers tomorrow and it's going to be the perfect weather!  As you know, The Husband went up to the lake without me Sunday to Monday night.  He spent a lot of time in the garden re potting the hibiscus trees and our new rose tree.  My climbing rose is blooming like mad and he took pictures of it with his phone.  Sadly, I can't get them to post so I'll take my own pictures this coming weekend to share.  These are some blooms he cut off that were losing petals.  Do you recognize the ugly brown wicker tray now that I have painted it with my Driftwood Gray?  Paint is so addicting!  And growing roses.  Tracie, I hope I qualify for your garden party this week at Fishtail Cottage!
I love this pattern and wish the dishes at Pier 1 weren't so bold this spring.  I love old fashion flowers.  I am joining Katleen's party, Let's Dish, at Cuisine Kathleen.  Visit and see some beautiful tablescapes and make some new friends!

I am enjoying this short week.  I thought we had a wedding to go to this weekend, but it's the next so I am anxious to be back at the lake.  Hear it calling me?!  Not much else is new, I am back to the routine now that I am home from vacation.  A lot of reading and working on my herb garden.  Emily is off tomorrow and we have some serious planting to do.  Hopefully The Husband will bring out our umbrella, table and chairs and I can start whiling away my afternoons outdoors!  Heaven! :)  See you soon!

Hi darling, I love your tray all painted up. I know you're anxious to get up to the lake, it's going to be a gorgeous w/k for it. Our temps are close to yours, tomorrow more sweater weather than short weather, I'll take it the heat will be coming soon enough. Love your sweet table, your dinner sounds yummy... hugs ~lynne~

Hi Jane! My Aunt called my Mom and told her just how hot it was in Chicago over the Memorial Day weekend. It was in the 60's with lots of rain here, so it sounds like Idaho sent some cooler temps your way. Wow is that tomato ever cool! I have not seen one like it before. Hope you enjoy your salad ~ it's one of my favorites. Have fun at the lake!!

Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

Jane,
Your tablescape leaves me "oohing" and "aahing"...such pretty colors! How fun to be heading to the lake! We're going to my MIL's house on the lake sometime in June...looking so forward to it! My colposcopy went well...not much different from a Pap test. Glad it's behind me! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!

Lovin' both the rose from the garden and your pretty rose dishes Jane! Cool looking tomatoes, they are totally new to me. How fun to have basil from the garden already this season-enjoy:@)

Your Mother's Day plates are beautiful, Jane! I love the color play of pinks, light reds and deep reds with the various greens!.

We have yet to plant heirlooms. We pretty much plant the basics. I have brought a few home from local farmers markets.

I followed you to Asheville. The towns are all so very quaint. Their names all seem to end in "ville"! I hope to meet up with some local bloggers one day soon.

I look forward to seeing your photos from the lake. It's such a special place.

I love your dishes, Jane. Those floral ones are just gorgeous. It sounds like The husband got a lot done when he was up at the lakehouse. It will be fun for you to get up there in the upcoming weeks.

Blessings to you today- xo Diana

Great tomatoes ~ I will have to look for some Friday night at the market. I thought the flower was some type of Mum but I could not place it ~ looks like you got your answer though. Hope you get your furniture out so you can do your planning outside ~ loving this spring!

What a gorgeous table you've set, Jane! I love the burlap runner, and your pretty floral plates, too! I am really enjoying the cooler temps today here, I can't take the heat either! Was it hot when you were down in NC? Oh, and you had me drooling at the thought of a Caprese salad, yum!!

Basil!!!! Doggone it! That's the one thing I forgot that I wanted to plant this year! Our HOA has crazy rules about what we can and can't plant in our yards, but basil is one of those things you can kind of slip in because it resembles coleus! There's still time, but I don't think I have any ground space left!!! :-) Those tomatoes are cool! I would have fun slicing that just to see what shapes emerge! Your Pier 1 plates are beautiful. Perhaps they can tide you over until you get back to the lake to see your rose bushes in bloom! Enjoy your relaxing weekend!!! Oh...and the mum's name is interchangeable. It's a Fuji Spider Mum. They're also great for floating!!! If you were talking about the stuff behind the mum, I can't remember the name. It's not yarrow....I used to grow it in our old yard. Can't recall the name. I'll get back to you if I do!

Hi Jane, Our weekend was really hot also. I got to spend more of it at home which was unusual. I am listening to the thunder and rain as I write my comment. Your tomatoes are funky looking, but the salad sounds good. I really like your dishes. Enjoy your weekend at the lake. Have a great day. Your Missouri Friend.

LOL! I got so excited because I actually knew the name of your flower! Those are great tomatoes! We are only planting grape tomatoes this year, which are perfect for throwing in a salad. Your table is so soft and pretty! I totally agree about Pier 1!

Beautiful tablescape! And I am positively in LOVE with those rose dishes. :) Perfectly dreamy and romantic, aren't they? I want wallpaper with old fashioned cabbage roses but I've had no luck finding any. I think it would look wonderful in a bedroom.

As for those tomatoes...WOW! I've never seen anything like them! Hope they are as tasty as they are cute!

I'm reading backwards, so I have to go catch up about your trip. I love these dishes too, I can see why you do.

It is raining here! We have a little thunder and a bit of rain. We are so dry that our yard has turned brown and everything looks like late August, hopefully this will keep up for a few hours. I actually had to put on a sweatshirt in the house! I love it after that hot, hot, have to stay inside weekend!

Knitty said...

I haven't seen Spider Mums in quite a while. Yours looks lovely in your tablescape.

We need a compromise between 90 and 60 degree weather, don't you agree? We'll be heading back to the cottage to do more cleaning and nesting this weekend.

Now if I would just keep track of what is needed where instead of having doubles at one place and nothing at all at the other....Two boxes of pancake mix here, no syrup. Syrup at the cottage without mix. I don't keep flour or many dry ingredients there unless they get used often. Humidity permeates even ziplock bags and containers.

Hi Jane, good to hear the news and what's happening up your way. Hope you get to the lake soon! How are your marigolds doing. Mine came up and seemed like they stayed at 2" high forever, but now that are growing again. Probably our crazy weather has something to do with it. Have a super good and fun weekend. xo

DId you ever find out what those flowers are? Here I have seen them called pompoms, but that does not sound official enough. I do think they look like mums, though. Pretty table! :D

Just beautiful, Jane! I love those colors together. Oh and the tomatoes? Awesome! Not a fresh tomato lives when it comes to my house. :-) I'm trying to do a few herbs this year...really fun and so tasty aren't they?

Your tablescape is so pretty, Janie. Simple & elegant! You definitely wouldn't like the desert weather we are having. It's 11a.m. & already 93 degrees, but wait.....113 is our expected high today & yesterday was a mere 111! I know, crazy! I go to the garden either before 6a.m. or after the sun sets. It's a good thing I have lots of sewing & scrapbooking projects to keep me busy & out of the heat! Enjoy your cool weather!

Since the rain finally stopped, I'm spending more time outside too.

Those heirloom tomatoes look delicious! I have started 7 different varieties from seed for the first time. They are growing great and already in the garden. I cannot wait to see what they look like, one variety is black on the outside and deep red on the inside.
