Friday we spent the day exploring Black Mountain, which boasts more of that small town vibe that I love. Coffee and a sweet roll at a cute little cafe, some shopping for locally made jewelry for the girls and then lunch at a little pub. The drive was so scenic but because the roads curve so much, it's hard to get a shot of the mountains. They are breathtaking!
All of these pictures were taken at an outdoor fair/flower and plant sale in downtown Hendersonville. We checked out of the inn in the morning and explored this cute little town on our way to the airport.
Now it is Sunday morning and I took a pass on going to the lakehouse with The Husband. If you could SEE my house! Well, I'd never let you at this moment. With both girls working (Abby just started waitressing at a little pub called Cork And Kerry), they didn't have much time for cleaning up after themselves! But it's good to be home and I have tons of energy I will use to get things back in order. June is just around the corner and I am looking forward to many peaceful weekends at the lake. And, we have a weekend coming up in Galena, Illinois, where we will be meeting up with Cindy from Applestone Cottage, along with her husband, Dan. This will be our fourth get together! I'm so looking forward to it!
So, I'm off to do what I do best and I will see you later in the week. Enjoy your holiday weekend! :-)

I love North Carolina so much. This was FUN!
Jeff and I have been working on a plan for a post-planter such as the one you showed.
Sending love,

I am glad you had such a wonderful time, Jane. I never got tired of your pictures and tale! I love the little towns you visited and that birdhouse place (the roofline of it) is amazing.
Hope the cleanup of your house isn't TOO bad! xo Diana
what a great time! happy memorial day!
Welcome home. It is always a task getting things back in order after a trip....but worth it!
Sounds like a wonderful, relaxing trip for both of you! I haven't seen a planter like that - its a great idea though. Looks like your hubs may have figured it out too.
My kids are in their 20's and still have no clue how to wipe up the crumbs or put things away. I guess it's nature's way of making us a little relieved when they leave the nest!
You are always on the go, Jane! It must have been fun meeting up with Penny and the others. It sounds like you have a great time when you go to Asheville. Will this be an annual trip now? I'll bet you're glad to be home now! : )
Oh I would have been sick looking at all those birdhouses and plants and not being able to bring them home!Looks like you had a wonderful trip, but I know you are glad to be home-I always am.
Looks like you all had YET ANOTHER wonderful time in Asheville:) Love the pictures of the market! Have a blessed evening, HUGS!
Hi Jane Welcome home and thank you so much for sharing your trip with us. It made me feel as though I was going right along with you. Your planter is neat that you want. I have one similar. Only mine have shelves that my hubby made for me before he got sick. I now use it to set my pictures of my family on. Have a wonderful week and try to stay cool. Hugs from Your Missouri Friend.
What a great trip!!!! I love that you have met so many bloggy friends..
Glad you had a great trip Jane. I think that the mountains of North Carolina are so pretty and I've heard about all the artsy places in Black Mountain. I'll get there one day.

I think it's great you had such a nice trip, Jane. I love Asheville so much. It might be my very favorite American city! Meeting up with blog friends is so much fun. I have only met one of my blog friends, and I had such a nice visit when I met Bonnie. I hope you enjoy your Memorial Day plans!

Your trip sounded wonderful...it was so neat that you were able to hook up with friends. Loved all the pictures you took...it was (almost) like being there.

Glad you had such a nice trip. I hope by now your house is in order and you are ready to relax for Memorial Day.
I really enjoyed catching up with your blog today -- a holiday, but the husband is working. I took the day off anyway!
You have just visited one of my favorite parts of the world -- the mountains of NC, and especially Asheville. I never get to stay long enough it seems. We really enjoy the Grove Park Inn. Hope you wen to to the Biltmore. It is so neat that you got to meet some of the bloggers and enjoy some girly/boggy time.
Have a good Memorial Day.
What a beautiful area to travel in. I totally understand not having enough room in my suitcase. Maybe I need to visit UPS more often. I did manage to bring home a few small thrift store finds from my recent trip to the Midwest. Have a great Memorial Day, Jane!
One of the best things about going away is coming back home ready to tackle things once again. Enjoy your home and family and memories of your trip!
Sounds like you are having a great trip, Jane! Hubby and I have been to Asheville and Black Mountain twice, and just love it down there! I could live in Black Mountain, it's such a cute town, and so many neat shops!
I enjoyed seeing your photos of your trip to the mountains of NC. I went to summer camp in Hendersonville when I was young, so I have always loved that town. And our grandson was born in Black Mountain. Your photos make me want to take a trip to the mountains soon!
I can imagine what a great time you had, Janie. We just got back ourselves from a week's stay in Atlanta. I tried leaving a comment on your blog from my IPad while I was there but it wouldn't let me. I did read all about your adventures though and looks very nice. Now, back to reality!...Christine
What a great trip you had Jane. Love all the little shops and then meeting up with bloggy friends would just make the time complete!
Jane, I love Asheville! So many great things to see and do and you are right, the scenery is breathtaking!
I think I recognize the restaurant in the picture... was it near the Biltmore?
I can imagine how excited you are to get to your lake home! I would never want to come back!
Sound like you have lots of fun planned for June!
Glad you had such a good time in Asheville, but it's always nice to come home, isn't it? (Even if it is messy, lol.) Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is all over the place - even in Cancun!
We love Galena ~ in fact, I am planning a girls-only (me, my mom, and one of my fave aunts) weekend there in August for my big five-oh!
Enjoy the cottage this summer. Will think of you while you are there. I love my roots and you are lucky enough to be living near my hometown. It was good to see you and Al again. My Best and Hugs,
Penny
Looks like you had a wonderful time! I love that planter too . . . if the husband can make one, maybe he can make two! LOL!!! I'll pay for shipping! LOL!!!
I have a good friend who moved to Ashville, she's a retired teacher and she just loves it!
Thanks for stopping by and for leaving a comment about my "Champagne Shallot Deviled Eggs" . . . they really were delicious!
Mary
I'm so glad you had a wonderful trip! A dear friend of mine was just in Hendersonville last week. :-)
Enjoy your home and your own bed.

Love all the newsy updates. Love the flowers in the photos. You are so lucky to get to spend time with Cindy. She is so awesome.
Oh Jane, what a trip! Sounds awesome and I do love Asheville, what a place! Nice trout your DH caught, a Hall of Fame one too! How fun to meet up with your Blogging buds! That's the best, isn't it?
Hi Janie... gee... I thought you must have written me off!... so glad you visited today... I thought I must have offended you or something... I had not heard from you the whole month of May... glad you had a nice vacation, and how fun meeting up with your blogger friends again!... the food you describe always sounds sooo yummy!... as for the purple flowers in my header, I have posted them almost this whole past month... they are called "Dames Rocket" and they are sooo at the top of my list of favorites... they have been blooming for almost two months now... non~stop and are just now starting to fade a bit... they reseed themselves easily so each year more and more beautiful blooms... hope you are enjoying being back home... seems like home really is where the heart is... xoxo Julie Marie
I just love Asheville. What a great destination. Thanks for sharing your adventure, liz
It looks like you had such a wonderful time. Wasn't it fun to meet with your blogging friends. I read Penny's post and thought...someday I'll meet you both.
Have a beautiful day.
Karen
I am already twinging just at the word Asheville. I simply didn't get enough time there to be "done with it" and I keep wondering when I will get to go back. The rest of this year is already all planned out but I hope maybe next spring. You are right, the mountains are gorgeous and very hard to photograph!
