A PARTIAL ROOM REVEAL

Beside watching it not snow, a lot of work has been going into the family room since my furniture was delivered. I have been arranging pieces of this and that, shopping the house and using some things bought on previous trips to Homegoods and Marshall's. I've made some arrangements and vignettes on tables and moved lamps around more than once. I had a pleasant surprise when the coffee table was delivered, too, because I was told it was back ordered.
The table is made of reclaimed wood and I am loving the imperfections. I wanted a dark table to contrast with the white furniture.
Hello loveseat! A trip was made to Home Depot today for curtain rods. I am hoping The Husband will hang them this weekend. I don't know a thing about using a drill. I found white curtain panels at JC Penneys a few weeks ago.
And this is the sofa. I finally opened the big box of hydrangeas that I ordered from eBay back in December and filled this big pitcher and a few other things. I still have a half box left...they're going to be everywhere!
A few years ago Emily {pictured above} and I bought these wood cubes from Pier 1 to paint and use as side tables and for storage. They obviously couldn't stay this wicked green color. Today I bought some light gray paint and they are now painted and distressed and finished. I stacked them and they hold extra pillows, quilts and throws.

I have more to show you...it's not a big room at all but I want to show it to you after I have hung the curtains. I am also going to hang some plates and this is a new thing for me. Please give me some tips on what you use to hang them on the wall with...I am really at a loss. Someone mentioned something that Michael's sells for hanging them.

Not much else is new. Still no snow but lots of gloom. And cold. If I can get the curtains up, maybe...maybe, we can get up to the lake. I have some things I have to bring home for this room in progress. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend! :-)

Jane, the sofas are so lovely and you can so so much with that very neutral color. The table does ground the grouping. You are going to enjoy those flowers all over the place so much. I cannot wait to see the entire room finished. hugs, olive

I love your new furniture!! Everything looks so pretty and comfy! You can buy plate hangers... little coiled wire thingies at Michael's near the framing area. I usually trace the plate onto paper and tape the paper to the wall to determine how I want the arrangement to be. Then just hammer a nail and hang the plate. Easy peasy!

Hi again Janie... first off, thanks for your help with the purse!... I can hardly wait!... I love, love love your table out of reclaimed wood!!! And you have decorated everything sooo cute!... I just ordered that book too, how is it??? As for hanging plates on walls, I will take a photo of a plate of mine and the thing it hangs from... they can be found at most any craft store... they are stretchy wiry things that go on the back of the plate and hook in several places onto the front of the plate... you just have to be really careful when you put them in place... put them where you want them the first time so they don't scratch the plate... everything looks just beautiful!!! and your daughter is a doll!... xoxo Julie Marie

I love the sofas and the table. Very nice.
Someone gave me this hint and it works. Glue gun a paper clip to the back of the plates. Leave the top free so you can bend it out a little. Works great.
Your daughter is so pretty.
Snow is coming our way....maybe it will snow for you.

Love the furniture, Jane! The couch and loveseat look so comfy. That table is great!

I used a tip from Diane at In Your Own Style for my plates. Hot gluing a large size paper clip to the back of the plates. I did that about two years ago and they are still on there and I hung them in the living room here in the new place. Let me know if you want the link to her blog. She gives instructions on how to do it {it's real simple}.

Oh you brave soul with white! I hope you had the fabric sprayed for stain protection. It's not the same thing as Scotchguard- which is removed every time a stain is cleaned up. I always have it done for our upholstered pieces and recommend it to customers.
Your sofa/love are just so attractive and the dark cocktail table looks very nice with them! I love recycled wood -we carry a really cool line of hard goods that uses old wood from barns, old buildings, and wine barrels. You never have to worry about additional dings! :-) Looking forward to seeing the rest of the room when it's completed. hugs, Sue

Hi Jane

I'm trying to take advantage of this "cold" to catch up on some blog visits. Btw happy BD and I LOVE that Kate Spade purse you got!

I love the white and dark contrast of your new furniture. Can't wait to see it all pulled together.

I usually use the wire plate hangers, but there is something new that glues to the back... a round disk 'fabric' thing. Kind of pricey. As far as hot glue... I would never trust it to hold forever. Just go with the springy wire thingies and be sure they have the little rubber covers where they touch the plate rims!

xoxo Bunny Jean

Hi Jane!
I think the room looks great. It is gloomy and I think a room redo or rearrange always makes for a spirit pick-me-up!

I always buy the gold wire plate hangers that you get at Michael's or Hobby Lobby or wherever, but I may have to look into Kathy's idea of hot gluing a paper clip to the back? That sounds like a clever solution too!

Pretty table & sofas...the room is really shaping up nicely for you Jane! We hang plates ALL the time...we just use hangers ~ you can find at Lowes, Home Depot, JoAnn Fabrics or Hobby Lobby ~ if you have any of those near you!
