A LITTLE BIT OF RED WITH MY BLUES

This won't be a long post because there is absolutely nothing going on in my life. The days are supposed to be shorter but they feel long...even the dogs seem bored. No reason to run out, no errands, no lunch dates. The kids have been around, but they always seem to be rushing off someplace. This is true cabin fever.
And yes, these are Christmas ornaments, but I left them up because they reminded me of Valentine's Day, which is just around the corner. I have added a touch of red here and there to get in the mood. It goes well with all the white outside...more of which is coming down as I write.
I have plenty to keep me busy. I cleaned all morning long {even though the cleaning ladies were here this week} and I can bake or make dinner ahead of time, or organize closets...read, watch a movie, browse through seed catalogs and plan my garden. I can sort through boxes that I brought home from my Dads house. Do you know he saved my postcards, letters and cards? He was so sweet. I need some motivation, maybe I'll just take a long, hot bath.
The Husband is leaving on a business trip. Is it still called business if it is in Florida? I was invited to go but I'm not really one to bum around all day by myself. I could really use some retail therapy though, a little time on the beach. I think more vacations should be taken during the winter, summers are overrated.
Not to get off the subject of boredom, I wanted to tell you that daughter Abby is painting her room. This necklace matches the color she picked out. She also bought a black comforter that reverses to gray and some pillows. I think she may be on to something with this color combo. I was a little disappointed at first that she wanted to paint as I did her room a while ago in a pretty shade of yellow with nice pops of teenage color. But it will be interesting to see what she does. I can always close the door.

Well, I think I need to get busy and snap out of it. What have all of you been doing to snap out of the winter doldrums? It really is hard to have a positive outlook all the time. And this is my journal, so there!

Have a good one! :-)

I understand your cabin fever; I have started to get spring fever which is a somewhat related condition.
I treated it yesterday without a doctor LOL, by buying a 6 pack of strawberries and a 6 pack of lettuce to plant in my vegetable garden. California tempts the gardener to plant early.

That necklace is gorgeous! You should wear it to Florida :)

Oh dearie, we can't all be chipper ALL the time and YES it is your journal! I am mostly OK staying in when I CAN get out but that week when I was stuck... I REALLY wanted to get out!

Love the color your daughter picked, can't wait to see how it turns out! My granddaughter is itching to paint her room too but she wants to sling paint everywhere to make abstract walls... not thinking my daughter is gonna let her do that:)

Hope you have a blessed day whatever you decide to do! Hop aboard with the hubby to tag along! HUGS!

Why not pack up a little suitcase and go on the trip? The sunshine will do you good and shopping will too:) We just got another foot of snow last night. So I am going to just continue doing things inside that I won't want to do in the Spring. And I also found some new excercises to try.Hope your week gets better:) The red ornaments are so cheerful and perfect for Valentines day.

I could have written this post. Too much snow and too many days housebound and I am longing for spring. Hoping it comes soon for both of us Jane :)

Speaking of painting (love your daughter's blue) I have some planned projects but haven't found the gumption to get them started. Maybe soon.

Blessings!

I have been cooped up in the house except for my twice weekly theraphy, because while this shoulder is healing I can't drive. I do have cabin fever big time. I would love to go out thrifting and antiquing for the day. Or work on mosaics, paint some furniture - any of the things I am not allowed to do at the moment.

I think you should go to Florida! Spend time on the beach, go shopping, have a pina colada!
Hugs,

Oh, Jane, I know so well how you feel! Almost every January I feel that way! There is so much to be done and so much I want to do BUT....nothing I FEEL like doing, except sleep and laze around....makes me feel terribly lazy and guilty! A few days in FL w/sun and sea could be just the inspiration you need! I, too, do not like "bummin'" around by myself...but...if there were a beach or a pool nearby w/plenty of sun....I could get lost in a few books and magazines til hubby was ready to take me somewhere spectacular for dinner!!!! Be kind to yourself and set little tiny goals with big rewards for each day...hmmph..I should take my own advice, huh?! ;-D
Go take a beautiful bubble bath!

I hear you about having cabin fever and wanting something to do that doesn't involve cold weather! I bought myself two big bunches of tulips and that helped pick me up. I've been stuck here working and when we do go outside we have to deal with either rain, snow, or slush, ugh! I would have met you in Florida to shop, hehe!

That's so very sweet that your father saved your postcards and notes. And your daughter's room sounds like it will be beautiful, I can't wait to see it!

I hope today is bright and sunny and that you're able to get out and do something fun!

Jane, GO TO FLORIDA!!!

Love your red and white for Valentine's Day. It looks perfect. I am also having a hard time finding motivation to clean the house, put things away, and go on errands. I make a list and try to get at least one or two things done. We are having beautiful weather and I just want to be outside.

So touching that your Dad saved your postcards. Feel the love.

Jane, a long soak in a hot bath sounds refreshing, but I think you need to rethink the travel plans. A few days at the beach would be a great refresher. ;-)
I don't get cabin fever in the winter because we have such mild weather. I take a daily walk in the brisk air, run errands, work on projects - nothing too exciting.
Hope you perk up. ~ Sarah

But like you, I know how it goes.. he works all day, has dinners at night, & I would be invited, but don't know these folks..I would just have to find something to do...so it would be shopping or casinos... I decided to stay home, save the money & do some catch up... but so far, no catching up.. :) Here I sit with the winter blahs... ( my christmas is still somewhat up : )
I guess I had better get to it...
Go take a bath, read a good book... put some lights on & pretend it is sunshine...:)

Same here. Another 16 in fell last night on top of what we had. Even if I could get out for some retail therapy, there is no where to park. 5 spaces then a mountain of snow that takes up 50 spaces. Nothing has melted since the big storm at Cmas.
So I too feel blah.
Go play with your dishes and do a table. That always occupies me for a few hours!
Spring will come, it always does. Just way too much snow this year!

I know exactly what you are talking about...I have not been out of the house since Tuesday. My husband has been out of town on business at a ski resort...does that count as business trip?? This was in Pennsylvania and they got a ton of snow. He did manage to get out today and is on his way home as I type this. I have just been blah, but like you I got some cleaning done. I washed all my china and washed down my hutch. Tomorrow I volunteer at the hospital so I will force myself to leave the house. If I were you I would have gone to Florida with your husband. I went last year with my husband but my sister lives down there so we got to spend some time together. It was nice but COLD! Maybe your hot bath will get you motivated. Till then, stay warm!~Hugs, Patti

Love the color that your daughter picked for her room...is it kind of a blued grey? Or is it a true grey..or a true blue? Pictures are always so hard to really tell, aren't they?

Well, I hope you snapped out of your doldrums and did something fun for the day...and you know, it IS okay to have a day like that once in a while...one where don't do anything really except just BE...

Yes Ma'am! "A little red with my blues." That's a great way to put it. This January-long-winter-snow-snow-snow-ugh-etc. kind of a time of year. -grin- And just think, we have Feb. and March to get through too!!!! -ducking, running and hiding- ,-)

I love, love, love the lacy window treatment on your window! And the red balls are perfect, for the effect you want. Bright and shiny and will catch the sun, if it peeks in here. :-)

I think a whole lot of things, [and not only vacations] should be planned for this time of year! Remember when a lot of invitations came, for Christmas entertaining? Right when Christmas time is so full already, for people.

We need a movement to push those Holiday get-to-gethers ahead! To now! To the long, dark, cold time of winter!!!

But you say, who wants to go out in the cold? True. So have a get-to-gether with warm comfort foods/drink. And warm, casual clothing. Doesn't that sound nice? :-) Worth going out in the cold for???

Thank you Jane, I was without a blogging muse this morning. But guess what? You have prompted me to find a TOPIC! :-))))
