JUST BEAUTIFUL DAYS

My 2 week vacation is nearing it's end but writing a post makes it all seem like one beautiful day flowing in to the next, each one bringing new and fun things to do and see. I can't begin to tell you how nice it is to not have to pack up and leave after 2 days. I think Milo and Layla have forgotten about their 'other house'. The weather has been perfect and we have have had as many quiet and relaxing days as we have had busy. I even took a nap one afternoon! I ordinarily would not waste a minute here, but it was so great to wake up, stretch and walk outside to see the calm lake and hear the birds chirping. Heaven.
I bought these little bird houses at Steinmart last year and finally got The Husband to hang them. He's not very fond of ladders. Aren't the faces precious?
So days just stretch out before me...I haven't found a good novel to start, but I will. The Husband is half finished with East of Eden, which I may pick up after him. I never read it. Time to break out of my Chick Lit mode and read a classic. Sometimes it's just nice to sit under the oak tree and read and daydream...
...or maybe under a palm tree. Yes, The Husband added two more palms to out patio, we are really in Tahiti now, baby.
And Milo loves his view from the Summerhouse where he can scout for other dogs to play with.
We've had our share of boat rides and flying around the lake on the wave runners. It's nice during the evenings and week when the lake is mostly empty. At the sand bar, where the water is only about waist high, you can hop off your wave runner and stand and have a refreshment or two...

Finally, I mentioned that we were going to an Antique Fair in Indiana and that we did last Saturday. I started out with my camera and then put it back inside the car. It becomes cumbersome and I know that you have seen tents and vendors and people shopping before. We had a great time. I had the experience of the 'one that got away'; a beautiful white chippy cabinet that went to the ladies in front of me admiring it. We spent the rest of the fair looking for something similar and it didn't happen. We made up for any sad feelings by munching on Chicken sandwiches, ice cream and lemonade. I did find this neat mesh bowl {sans veggies} and really liked it. Perfect for fruit or sewing items. junk mail...
I found this perfect, chippy window that is nice and sturdy and will look beautiful hanging above my bed. I'm not sure if I should hang fabric or something on the back of it or just let the wall color show through. Please let me have your suggestions. I am in LOVE with it.

We got back from South Haven this morning after picking the dogs up from the kennel. I think they had a good vacation themselves. Milo actually turned and ran out of the office and back into the cage area when we got there. Must have forgot to say his goodbyes. They have not been barking much....probably wore their barkers out! Anyway, I did some serious shopping in South Haven and I will share it with you in my next post. In the meantime, I hope you are having a marvelous week! :-)

It sounds like you had a wonderful time! I really, really love those birdhouses!! Also...that is one BIG urn(?) on your patio...it's just awesome. My hubby loves fishing...it's not quite the same as a wave runner, but I still enjoy it. :)

I love that window too!... I think I'de find a patterned fabric that compliments the rest of your room and back the window with that. You can also do a mirror back, depends what look appeals to you.

This time sounds just dreamy...so relaxing and peaceful. Being around water does that for me. The window is fab ~ can't wait to see what you do with it! I cannot remember the color of your walls...perhaps try it without fabric and see what you think before adding it? Enjoy the next few days my friend. So horribly hot here it's just easier to stay inside. 108 today. :-(

Hey Janie! What lake are you taking your vaca on? It looks very much like the lake I used to live on! :) Isn't it heavenly to get up and be able to see that sparkling water outside your window and hear the seagulls overhead? (sigh!) I'm looking forward to seeing your treasures from South Haven, too!

Hi Jane....Looks like you are having such a relaxing time! How nice for you and your hubby! I love that window frame! I would put it up against the wall and see how you like it with the color coming through and then I would try some fabric and see if that looks good. I will be anxious to see what you do!~Hugs, Patti

Two whole weeks - luxury! It's nice to read about how much you're enjoying the gift of that much time in such a pretty place.

Sounds like dreamy relaxation there for certain, Jane. I can feel the calmness in your post, so good for you! I've never read East of Eden either, saw the miniseries with Jane Seymour though... so know it's NOT the same!
Enjoy.

This sounds like bliss to me! I'd hang the window as is, no fabric. It is pretty enough to be the focal point on its own.

It sounds as if you were able to relax and recharge your batteries.
Afternoon naps are a rare treat, what a lovely place you have there at the lake.
Your chippy window frame looks fab, I would hang it "as is", without a fabric backing, so that the shape stands out more against the wall.

Your lake house looks like a resort. No wonder you had some relaxing days there. And you had great weather for boating and swimming.

It will be hard to return to reality.

Sounnds like you are having a nice vacation, Janie. Sometimes the best ones are the ones where you just lay around and relax and enjoy the surrounding and I know just gazing at the lake would be very relaxing. I am finally home and enjoying it, watching my mom. Remember posting about that little cottage that the owner used as a painting studio? I am thinking of putting one in our yard for the same purpose so been busy working on that too. Thanks for the idea. Can't wait to see more of what you bought...Christine

If you're putting it above your bed, what about having mirrored glass placed behind it? I love East Of Eden. I haven't reread it in years. Might have to pick a copy up now.

This does sound like heaven! And two weeks! I can't even imagine. So glad that you had such a wonderful, relaxing time. Love the window, I think I would just let the wall color show through. But then, I tend to be a "minimalist Minnie" LOL. Thanks for sharing your trip, I feel more relaxed just reading about it!

I think we have the same hibiscus plant...love them! I don't have any flowers today, but it seems like they come on overnight. It's done great in the heat and humidity this year, when all the others bit the dust.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I have embraced my freckles and actually love them now. :) And yes, family IS everything.

Come back again sometime! :)

Good Morning Jane Sweetie...
What a beautiful share today. Oh my gosh, everything looks so beautiful and relaxing on the patio. I am like Milo I would be standing and looking around, and searching for so many things to get into. I love it.

Your birdhouses are just precious. I too love the little faces. Some little birds will move in before long, and will be so happy.

Your table and chairs look so inviting. Just a glass a tea with some fresh lemon and ice, I would be good for the afternoon.

Palms trees are beautiful. As long as you can keep them under control for height, they are wonderful, but out here in Phoenix, they are so tall, they become havens for the pigeons to roost in, so they aren't my favorite. Patio size, I love them.

Love your chippy window. I like the way it is divided. My hubby and I leave message for each other, every night on our pillows, so for me, I would turn that into a black board, where we could write back and forth to each other at night. Corny I know, but I love it. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Even some of that lettering for the walls would be pretty inside of it. The window would frame the lettering.

Have a beautiful weekend sweet friend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Hi Jane~
What a wonderful blessing to have a great place to seek rest and relaxation! How fun to have even more rooms to decorate!
I love your window frame...how about adding a mirror or painted glass panels to it?! Of course, it would be lovely as is, too!
Have a beautiful day~
