TABLESCAPE THURSDAY: SIMPLE TABLE WITH ROSES

Ta Da!! I found the color mode on my very complex {!} camera and I am good to go. These are my Mother's Day Flowers in all their glory and they have opened, too. Just in time for Tablescape Thursday. Please visit Susan at Between Naps On The Porch who hosts this event each week. I actually wasn't inspired to make this tablescape by the roses, but by the burlap runner I made. I was fiddling around with a piece of the fabric, thinking of making a window valance with it and it just wasn't happening, so I thought maybe it would be a neat juxtaposition with the flowers on the table and I think it worked. I also flipped over some paisley place mats to find a light brown backing and used them as well. Adding to my centerpiece are mercury glass candle cups. They look really pretty at night with the flame illuminating them.

I am using water glasses from the Dollar Tree, vintage Italian reproduction wine glasses from Napa Style and various pieces of silver plate picked up here and there.
Aren't these little cardinal S & P shakers adorable? There is a little family of the real thing living in the birdhouse next door. I love watching them.
My dinner plates and napkins are from HomeGoods and my salad plates are from Pier I. I'm not sure where I found the place mats and I bought the burlap at my garden center at Christmas.

These are little salt and pepper shakers that I bought at a local gift shop. They are so cute and they went with the napkins and color scheme so well, I threw them in as well.
Aren't they the cat's meow? They are about 2 inches high. I love them.

Well that is all I have today. Emily helped me fix that camera mode in about 30 seconds. What is it with kids that their technical world is so much more evolved than ours? Am I stuck in my ways...not wanting to learn? Well, I won't get all philosophical, it's time to have a feast...broiled chicken breasts, roasted potatoes, green beans and a tossed salad. Maybe I'll keep the camera out and join Foodie Friday!

Have a fabulous rest of the week. We are going up to the lake for the first time in a month. It is going to be in the high 60's. Whoo Hoo! :-)

okay, maybe this is obvious to all the other readers, but how do you tell which is salt, and which is pepper?

And do you have new dining room chairs? How come I don't remember them from before? I like em! A lot!

Everything looks fantastic. Isn't this burlap craze something else!! I love burlap, twine, numbers, letters...everything that Pottery Barn is showing.
They quit showing containers with wine corks and now everyone has quit using them. I still LOVE the look and will use them anyway...:)

Jane,
Son and dogs moves into his new place June 15th. I will be busy with the sprucing up then. I am sure it will take at least 2 weeks for me to be able to think about moving. I am shooting for around the 1st of July, tho.

Those plates are awesome. I love the colors. And those salt/pepper shakers are to die for.

I've been reading about my camera since I got in on Sunday and although I snapped a couple of quick shots today - I have a LONG way to go before I "get it".

Those roses, that table, your plates...all beautiful. Do enjoy your time at the lake...envious!

Lots of good ideas here Jane. It is smart to check the other side of lots of fabrics and such. Sometimes they are exactly right color for our setting.
As for the Foodie Friday, good luck remembering to take the pictures of the food after it is cooked. I always forget until we are half way through the meal.

Your roses are so pretty...I love the ones with the tinges of red-orange. The plates from Pier 1 are wonderful...as I read I hoped you say where they were from. The remind me of Aesthetic transferware. Also, the little bird shakers are adorable! I love any bird motif' items!

The flowers look beautiful (and I'm sure they smell out of this world!) Love the rustic look of the table - the plates, even down to those salt & pepper shakers - beautifully done Jane!

Hi Jane,
I know what you mean about the kids being unfazed with all the new technology. Whenever I have a problem I call my 14 year old in and she can usually fix whatever it is in about 5 seconds! But then, they were born with all this stuff already invented. We had to accept it as new and a little scary!!
Your table looks so pretty, I love all the different textures and the soft colors. The plates are really nice, love the pattern.
Thanks for visiting earlier, I hope you'll come back again soon!

Color mode! Glorious color mode! :-)

Ahhhh, yes... What is it with kids and their being born, technical whizzzzzes? :-) Good thing for us though, hu? And me too, I kind of get stubborn and say I don't even want to learn. "Just do it for me!" ,-)

Black & White can be amazing! But such pics seem to take more work, than color. -le sigh- One has to make sure the dark part is really a contrast to the [very clearly] white part. And crop, crop, crop. And use the stuff to make for more clarity, in one's iPhoto program. Eeeeek! ,-)

I love the flowers ~ in color! :-) I so understand about the technology...my granddaughter went through my cell phone in just a few minutes, advising what I had. Of course, all I really knew is how to answer, dial, text and use the alarms. :-) Kids are just wired differently now, so much more advanced. Anyway, your table is lovely and the salt & pepper shakers are so cute!

I hope you have a great weekend at the lake.
