ARTSY FLOWERS

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday and thank you to all of the well wishers who stopped by. It was a beautiful sunny day here in Chicago. The day started out great with the whole family (except me because of an asthma flare up) going on a breast cancer fund raising walk at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Afterward, my sister in law had a brunch which was really sweet of her. I really hope to go next year. Everyone had a good time. The day went on to be so nice, I received these flowers from The Husband and kids. I am not trying to take artsy pictures again with this post, I am still stuck on the black and white mode with my camera and haven't had a chance to look at the book. For your information, the roses are white, red, pink and yellow. Really beautiful.
My oldest son, Jeffrey came walking in with these tulips. FYI...they are purple. Wow, this is terrible. I really need to look at the book. Only a blonde would post beautiful flowers in B & W!!

The day went on with Emily and The Husband making a wonderful dinner of shish kabob, Greek pasta salad and corn on the cob. Delicious. We waited for Kevin to get home from work at 8:00 to eat. I guess a lot of people golf on holidays and because they also like to wander in the Pro Shop, Kevin has to work a very busy day. And speaking of Kevin, he has a girlfriend and we just love her. Her name is Mary Clair and she came to dinner last night. A really nice Irish girl with freckles and red hair. Kevin and she adore each other. Whoo hoo...maybe grand kids are in my foreseeable future! The icing on the cake was that I received a gift card from the family to Marshall's. I didn't know you could get gift cards there. I am so excited to get out and shop!

I hope everyone had a fabulous day! :-)

Happy Mother's Day Jane--so fun to hear about the nice day you had. I had a very good day too with two of my three kids able to be there. I don't need gifts, just their company, though I did get some gifts too!

Hi Blondie. Sounds like you had a terrific day, yesterday. I used to live near Chicago in a little town called Hinsdale, so it is fun to know that you are somewhere in the Chicagoland area! There are plenty of Marshall's around, so you are going to have SOME FUN with that gift card! Your son's girlfriend sounds very cute. I'm only a smidge Irish but love anything celtic....always wanted that curly red hair : ) Have a wonderful week! xx P&H

Hey, Janie!

I'm sorry to hear you had an asthma attack, but I'm happy to see you got lovely flowers from the family. They are still pretty in B&W!

I know exactly what you mean about cameras and technology. I just set mine on auto and shoot and hope for the best! LOL! I hate to read manuals.

I've been battling some sort of killer headache since yesterday (it laid me up for more than 12 hours straight), but I fought my way clear of it this morning. Then it tried to strike again around noon. Not sure what gives.

Anyhow, I hope you're feeling much better now and can get out and about to do your Marshall's shopping. I think you need to plan a trip here next winter, and we'll hit a town that has them all: Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Beall's Outlet, Ross', Tuesday Morning, etc. My latest fixation is Goodwill, though I haven't found anything really incredible yet. A friend found some Lily Pulitzer capris there a few weeks ago!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Too bad about the asthma flare-up, but it sounds as though you had a wonderful day anyway. I hope you fix your camera soon, I bet if you handed it to your daughter, she would have it fixed in a second!

I absolutely love B&W floral photography. I think sometimes we get lost in the color and B&W shows off the intricacies and beauty of the flowers themselves.

Sorry you were a bit under the weather, asthma is no fun!

A red headed Irish girl!!!! Ohhhhhhh how precious!

I got a red headed Granddaughter, without her parents being red headed, actually. :-) But wow is her hair a joy! Especially now that she's 16 and loves it.

Truth be told, she didn't grow up, loving her hair. She didn't enjoy people stopping them on the street and "ohhhh-ing" and "ahhh-ing" over it, when she was a little "tom boy." But, she has learned to embrace her uniqueness. :-)))

Gentle hugs...
