TABLE TOP TUESDAY & TABLESCAPE THURSDAY AT THE LAKE

We spent the weekend at the lakehouse and I had a little fun playing with my dishes, so I thought I would join my two favorite parties. Visit Marty and Susan to see more pretty vignettes and table settings.

Since we don't use our harvest table at the lake for every cotton picking thing that we do at home with the dining table, I am able to make a different tablescape every time I'm there and leave it until the next time. I like having that luxury. It gives me a chance to tweak it a bit, too.

The dinner plates are my every day Gibson and I picked up the pretty fleur de lis salad plates at my favorite floral/gift/ antique store in White Pigeon, Michigan. Don't you just love shops with a little of everything? Topping everything are dessert cups from Anthropologie in a very pale pink and I plopped a few Godiva truffles in them. Yum!

A few weeks ago we were in another little Michigan town and I found a set of silver plate in the original box for $40.00. Not a big savings, but it gave me a formal set for the lakehouse. The napkins are Rachel Ashwell.
I don't know why I included this picture, it looks cluttered. I wanted to get a long shot of the table with the centerpiece. You can see the table runner I bought from Sissie at Sissie's Shabby Cottage. I posted about it last week, but it wasn't a good fit on my table here in Chicago and looks so much better on the harvest table at the lake, so I used it in this tablescape.
I love the ruffle and the applique. The soft French bow is also the lining on the reverse side. I can't stop singing the praises of this runner!

Finally, I have a set of vintage salt and pepper shakers and a small hurricane lantern.

Everyone seemed to have glorious weather this weekend. Well, it was sweatshirt weather for us. I cleaned up the Summerhouse and The Husband cleaned up the grills. We started putting patio furniture out. Of course, we can still have snow, this being the crazy Midwest! But we enjoyed ourselves, had burgers on the grill and cozied up for some television when the nights turned cool. Lovely weekend. Hope you had one, too.

The first bbq burgers of the season? They always taste the best. I think $40 is a good deal for a set in a case.
Nice job on the tablescape. I often leave my dining table set. When we eat there I just clean off the two spots we messed up and reset the table. Works for me.

Hi Jane, love that table. You did a beautiful job...I love the white and the silver. Hey I learned from experience...unfortunately....not to wash anything burlap in the washer even on gentle. Just thought I'd let you know I ruined a great slipcover (what was I thinking) that I made. It had turned out perfect too. oh well....Love your table.
I do the same as your first poster I set the table and slide things down when we eat and then slide it back when done. Yours is so pretty I would definitely leave it. Tres Beautiful!

Jane, I think it is all just so beautiful and feminine.
I've been looking for a reasonable set of dishes in white with the hobnail edging. So far the only one I've found has been too expensive for every day. So, I;m going to look for the Gibson set like yours! Thank you for the tip!

I hope all is going well getting your finishing touches on the remodel. I've run out steam, but there has been some family issues going on that took the steam out of me. Hoping to get back with it soon.

Love, Dana

What fun you must have getting the lake house ready for summer. I adore that table runner, it is lovely. We are back to sweatshirt weather one day and the next it is unseasonably warm. It's difficult to know what to wear, and my mom did get a bit of snow on evening recently, but she is in Vermont.

Your table is lovely.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. You "get" letters too! I love your tablescape. The lighting from the window casts such a pretty light on it.

I grew up in a northwest suburb of Chicago and my sister worked in the same field as you, and still does, downtown. Small world!

Your silverplate fork on the left, I wonder if it has an initial. It is so similar to the place settings I have of my grandmother's.

Your weekend sounds perfect!

The thing about sweatshirt weather is ~~ If one gets too warm, you can always take the sweatshirt layer off. But when outside work is too warm, you simply have to kind of "broil." ,-)

Yes, we are enjoying the weather here too. We certainly deserve it, a harsh Winter followed by Spring floods.

Anyway, I love your tablesetting especially the fleur de lis plates. I like to use clear plates with my china so when they're stacked you can see through them and they don't compete with the china pattern.

Like the Rachel Ashwell napkins too.

Very pretty tablescape.

The table looks great. Did you get your plates from my favorite shop in White Pigeon. Can never think of the name of it. The owner is Linda? or Karen?
