There's a new party going on in town and I am going to it today to show off some of my prized possessions at the lakehouse. Laurie from Bargain Hunting And Chatting With Laurie is the sweet hostess of A Few Of My Favorite Things Saturday's and this is my first time playing along.
Above is a sweet little chippy urn that I usually plant with flowers in the summer for the patio, but I brought it in this winter and plopped a sheaf of wheat in it. I love the texture of it on the stone floor in my kitchen. Soon it will hold some pretty geraniums. Very soon. :-)
If I had a favorite piece of furniture in my life, it would be my Hoosier cabinet that I searched high and low for. I posted a picture of her before before I added some of my favorite things ( and I'm still adding). I keep Monster Plant on the top along with a vintage tea set and a little crackled chicken left over from the Rooster Party. Inside I have some little French plates and some herb containers. The original flour mill is still inside. And then I have jazzed up the rest with an ironstone tea set, some beachy shell dishes from a sale at Pottery Barn and some Barefoot wine on a silver tray. Pretty simple for a clutterbug like me.
This is a terrible picture but I wanted to show you these little herb jars that I bought online at Anthropologie. I only shop their sales and they are one of the best sites for really bringing down prices on nice things. A blogger tipped me off on these. At $1.95 a jar, I scooped up four. I think they still have them if you are interested.
So these are some of my favorite things at the lake. I could go on forever, but there are more Saturday parties to come! Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting! :-)

I also have to tell you how much I love the new colors in your house. I just knew that the cedar would be beautiful painted in your bath. Great job! You have been such a busy girl. Don't you laugh when you hear people say "it's only paint"! Yeah, and a lot of 'damn hard work'! lol

Oh Jane, that urn is spectacular. Your Hoosier is so pretty. It looks like it is in mint condition, and those herb jars are so neat. I've never seen herb jars before. If I had an inch of spare space in my kitchen, I'd be heading over to see if I could order some now. With the influece of your blog, they may already be gone. I'm so glad you linked this post to Favorite Things. laurie
Hi Jane,
I love your Hoosier cabinet. It is such a special piece. I posted a picture of my Granny's hoosier cabinet in one of my early posts. It sits in my living room at our cottage at the Inn, where I can see it all the time. Thanks for sharing yours :)

What a wonderful place your Lake house must be, I sure would escape there more then staying home. My hubby would miss me! Hugs Diane
Of course, you are welcome anytime, Janie. I'll email you. Love your Hoosier cabinet and I like how it has a glass door on one side too. Pretty herb jars and I love the tea set. It got sunny the moment we got on the pier. We really had a good sunshine day in Belize...Christine
Jane-Be careful! That plant may eat your beautiful cabinet! It is just gorgeous! I don't think those (The Hoosier, not the plant:) are very common around here. I don't recall ever seeing one. Your lake house looks like it is every bit as beautiful as your home!
I love all your pretties, that urn is gorgeous. But the Hoosier Cabinet, be still my heart. It's a beauty! I'm going to check out those jars, they are wonderful. Have a great weekend! Kathy
Oh, love your home so much. Everything looks wonderful too. I just adore Laurie, and her new party looks so lovely.
Karen
Janie, what a great, great cabinet! Pretty much everything you have is one of my favorites, you have such beautiful taste. xo Lidy
Those jars are too cute!
Jane, I love seeing photos of your lake house. The urn should be fun year round in lots of different spots. Great find! I smiled when I read about your Hoosier cabinet. Many years ago I bought an older version of a dough cabinet at a yard sale. The base had two drawers with two curved drawer flour bins below. The top piece had compartments in various configurations some long and some tall and narrow. One had a rolltop door for bread storage. It is still one of my favorite finds. When we moved into this home in 95 there wasn't a spot for it, so I gave it to my niece who is now attached to it. So I get to visit it on occasion. :-) Thanks for sharing your beautiful home. Have a good weekend.
Hi Jane, How ya' doing up there in Illinois? My son says Spring is finally showing up there and you have had some gorgeous days. I love, love, love your hoosier cabinet! xo
The Hoosier would be a favorite of mine also. Anthropologie just opened a store here and I am trying to stay away from there. :-D
Beautiful cabinet, Jane. I have a Hoosier but it has the enamel pull out shelf...it is one of my favorite pieces, too.
I love that beautiful cabinet! I am going to have google Hoosier now as I am not familiar with this product. Looks like something I should know about!
I wish we had anthropologie here...I wonder if they deliver to Oz?? Probably not :(

Good morning Jane.....what pretty pics you have posted of things at your lakehouse. Isn't it fun two have two separate places to make little displays and decorate? Love what you have done.
Jo
I just bought a similar urn yesterday, a bit bigger and taller, filled with flowers.
It was top heavy and tipped over in my friends car. What a mess. I had to replant it.
I would love to find a hoosier cabinet like that. Wow.
That Hoosier cabinet is a showstopper. No wonder it's your favorite! Lovin' it.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. The Mansion is gorgeous! Lucky you. Maybe hubby will take me there next time. He sure enjoys eating there.
Hi Jane,
Look at all the comments on your post! We can't wait to see what you will show us next because everytime you do it is always something wonderful.
I love your cabinet and the way you have adorned it. Love your big planter too. Reminds me that I need to go get some geraniums, pink of course.

Hey Janie,
Have a great week my friend. I am feeling almost normal again! Keep checking that calendar and we will come up with a plan.
Hugs, Cindy
Hi Blondie~ ~ ~I love your fleur de lis salad plates, just beautiful!
You did a great job choosing paint colors for the walls. Yellow is one of my favorites but I find it very hard to pick a comfortable shade. Too gray or green or wharever but I love your shades. The darker one is just perfect in my eyes.
Wow, Jane, I LOVE that Hoosier cabinet and all of your favorite things, for that matter! I cannot believe you got such a steal on the herb jars at Anthro. Lucky lady, you!!
Have a wonderful day!!
Hi Janie! Any progress on the travel plans? Come see my secret garden when you have a chance. If you come after tonight, you will have to scroll down cause my tabletop and teatime post will publish....Christine
Hey girlfriend,
Thanks for the lovely get well card! Your such a sweetie Hugs, Cindy!

My husband has always stopped to look any time he see a Hoosier cabinet. One of his grandmother's had one for many years.

Those are some wonderful "favorite things"! I wonder if our pothos plants are related? lol~
Love your cabinet...and the herb jars are wonderful. What a deal you got on those.
