A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

There's a new party going on in town and I am going to it today to show off some of my prized possessions at the lakehouse. Laurie from Bargain Hunting And Chatting With Laurie is the sweet hostess of A Few Of My Favorite Things Saturday's and this is my first time playing along.

Above is a sweet little chippy urn that I usually plant with flowers in the summer for the patio, but I brought it in this winter and plopped a sheaf of wheat in it. I love the texture of it on the stone floor in my kitchen. Soon it will hold some pretty geraniums. Very soon. :-)

If I had a favorite piece of furniture in my life, it would be my Hoosier cabinet that I searched high and low for. I posted a picture of her before before I added some of my favorite things ( and I'm still adding). I keep Monster Plant on the top along with a vintage tea set and a little crackled chicken left over from the Rooster Party. Inside I have some little French plates and some herb containers. The original flour mill is still inside. And then I have jazzed up the rest with an ironstone tea set, some beachy shell dishes from a sale at Pottery Barn and some Barefoot wine on a silver tray. Pretty simple for a clutterbug like me.
This is a terrible picture but I wanted to show you these little herb jars that I bought online at Anthropologie. I only shop their sales and they are one of the best sites for really bringing down prices on nice things. A blogger tipped me off on these. At $1.95 a jar, I scooped up four. I think they still have them if you are interested.

So these are some of my favorite things at the lake. I could go on forever, but there are more Saturday parties to come! Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting! :-)

Oh Jane, that urn is spectacular. Your Hoosier is so pretty. It looks like it is in mint condition, and those herb jars are so neat. I've never seen herb jars before. If I had an inch of spare space in my kitchen, I'd be heading over to see if I could order some now. With the influece of your blog, they may already be gone. I'm so glad you linked this post to Favorite Things. laurie

Jane-Be careful! That plant may eat your beautiful cabinet! It is just gorgeous! I don't think those (The Hoosier, not the plant:) are very common around here. I don't recall ever seeing one. Your lake house looks like it is every bit as beautiful as your home!

Jane, I love seeing photos of your lake house. The urn should be fun year round in lots of different spots. Great find! I smiled when I read about your Hoosier cabinet. Many years ago I bought an older version of a dough cabinet at a yard sale. The base had two drawers with two curved drawer flour bins below. The top piece had compartments in various configurations some long and some tall and narrow. One had a rolltop door for bread storage. It is still one of my favorite finds. When we moved into this home in 95 there wasn't a spot for it, so I gave it to my niece who is now attached to it. So I get to visit it on occasion. :-) Thanks for sharing your beautiful home. Have a good weekend.

I just bought a similar urn yesterday, a bit bigger and taller, filled with flowers.
It was top heavy and tipped over in my friends car. What a mess. I had to replant it.
I would love to find a hoosier cabinet like that. Wow.

Hi Blondie~ ~ ~I love your fleur de lis salad plates, just beautiful!
You did a great job choosing paint colors for the walls. Yellow is one of my favorites but I find it very hard to pick a comfortable shade. Too gray or green or wharever but I love your shades. The darker one is just perfect in my eyes.
