Good morning and Happy Friday!! Another fun filled weekend at the lake awaits me. And that means I have a gazillion things to do to get ready. But first, I have to check out what is going on in Blogland of course. I wanted to mention that yesterday when I was visiting some of my favorite friends, I happened to find out that there is an event called White Wednesday's hosted by Faded Charm Cottage. It is pretty self~explanatory and sounds like a lot of fun. I think I am going to join up. It sounds like a lot of fun and who does not have a lot of WHITE hanging around?? LOL!!!

So while I perused blogs, I had a spot of coffee...

...and looked in dismay at all of the clean laundry I did yesterday, that has to be folded today...

...and then I spotted the newspaper, and maybe you heard the news. Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox threw his first perfect game yesterday against the Tampa Bay Rays. This has only been done 18 times in major~league history!! Well I won't bore you or myself with this as I know you all know from a recent post, that I am not a big sports fan, but...GO SOX!!!!

So after the laundry is folded, I will have ironing to do as I left it all squashed in the baskets all night. My family is fully aware of all the obstacle courses Blondie creates in the name of housework

Then off I go to water my flowers...

I am pretty proud of myself for planting 3 more pots yesterday! Yep! Still planting pots. In July (almost August, actually). I still have more flowers sitting in the driveway outside the garage door. They are doing pretty well except for the flat of petunia's I ran over with my car.

I call the ones in pots Survivors!!

I have some really pretty day lily's blooming in the backyard...this peachy one.

And this pretty yellow one.

And I have this cute little chive flower in my herb garden that will drop seed for next year. Maybe I will snip some to bring with me to the lake. Sprinkle a little on some deviled eggs or in a salad.

And of course, I can't forget to water the indoor plants. This is Mr. Palm that spent last summer at the lake. We couldn't bring him back because he outgrew my car!! He and Monster Fern are here to stay!

And then I will pack up my tote bag. The weather here is sunny and in the 80's, so I don't need much more than a bathing suit and some shorts. Yes!!

And then off I go to run some errands We have company coming so it's always nice to have some goodies. I'm pretty much happy eating S'mores all weekend but some people are finicky and want three square meals. Go figure.

And I thought I would bake a little dessert. And of course, by now you know Blondie does not bake, so if you look closely at the picture below, you will see that I have a little helper!

I wanted to mention that Martha from Lines from Linderhof is posting a recipe for a Lemon Blueberry Tart (or cake, I forget). I think I will try that. Blueberries are at their peak right now and not very expensive at all, especially if you get them at a farmer's market.
So, Abby is at her friend Nora's cottage on Lake Michigan in Indiana and will be meeting us.

And Emily and Mike went up to our cottage yesterday. I called her last night to see what was up and she said, "Well, I'm relaxing on the patio with Layla in my lap, drinking your wine." The nerve!! I said, "Emily, quit being me!".
The lucky girl and her boyfriend had tickets to see Elton John and Billy Joel play at Wrigley Field Tuesday night.

That would be one great concert to see. The two Piano Men! We saw Elton John in Vegas a few years ago but The Husband doesn't care for him. He got tickets for us to see Cher in Vegas this year. That will be a blast! I think this will be about her 15th comeback tour. LOL!!

I showed you all U.S. Cellular Field a few weeks ago and now this is Wrigley Field or The Friendly Confines. But pay no attention to me, I am NOT a sports fan!!!

Text Color
And here is a closing shot of Elton, I believe. And another thing, she saw Bruce Springsteen a few weeks ago. I have always adored him!! I'm telling you, the girl is living my life!!
I wish you all a wonderful weekend. Stop by Mrs. Magpie, it is her birthday today. I am going to get on my laundry and then run out to get dessert, I mean stuff to make dessert!!
xoxo
Jane

You should come hang out with me. We'll move the laundry baskets off the couch and eat s'mores while we chat. Then we can throw the laundry back in the dryer with a wet towel ('cause I don't iron) while we hit the thrift stores!

Have a wonderful weekend! Wow, she is getting to see the Face to Face tour! My brother sent me pix via phone when he saw them in Florida earlier this year, the rat! Who does he think introduced him to Elton John lol. Have a great time at the lake, don't you love it when you can pack everything you need in a backpack? Kathy

Your flowers are so pretty. My two measly pots are already begging to be put out of their misery.

What is wrong with those people? An all-s'mores diet sounds perfect to me.

Sounds like you have a great week, planned, Janie!

Thanks so much for your sweet birthday wishes on my blog. You are so sweet, and I consider you to be one of my favorite bloggy buddies! But I think you already know that.

Hope your trip to the lake is great. I'm heading out of town and will be back late next week. Mr. Magpie will be holding down the fort. We take our trip together later. :-)

Love to you...

I'll have to ask my father-in-law about that game. He's a huge baseball fan.

Have a wonderful weekend at the lake. I'm off to look at the blueberry trifle recipe link that you posted. That sounds really good.

Oh, that concert will be great! We went as a family in '94, the first concert my sons attended at the ages of 14 and 16. That alone made for special memories.

I hope you had better weather today (Saturday) on the west side of the state than we had. It eventually turned out well, but outdoor parties parties and projects had a few very wet interludes.

Wow, Jane, that was some post..from flowers to Elton John and lots in between!
I am still planting too! It was so cold, and then so much rain, I had to replace some of the drowned annuals..I was waiting for the planting fairy to show up, but no luck there!
Enjoy the weekend.
It was a lovely day here, didn't even walk down to the beach, just sat on the porch and read...

Good morning Jane! I made that chicken noodle casserole dish last night and it was a little too comforting if you know what I mean. I could have eaten more but I told myself I had to STOP! I was trying to read your post and John started talking to me at the same time. I'm going back to re-read it. He was looking at your photos and asking if that was your laundry. He was very impressed with the amount of washing you had.Heehee! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Well, Brenda does not bake either. Or not very often anyway! I "retired" when my girls grew up. Had the first at 17, the second at 21, cooked while they grew up. Then promptly RETIRED from cooking most anything! Course that means lots of tv dinners and scrambled eggs. But today I made brunch and actually made "biscuits from the box" with cheddar cheese. And of course the infamous scrambled eggs I live on!

Your world sounds about as busy as mine. I am in the middle of a ton of laundry too. Hope you get some rest and enjoy dessert. Thanks for coming by my MM. You asked if Apothecary Jars were part of the "Cloche Party". Definitely yes. We had a ton of them last time and it was such fun to see how creative everyone was. I so hope you will join this next party. Hugs, Marty

Looks like everyone was having a good weekend*! (smile)

To answer your question about my header....the pics in the header are of my condo in Dallas. I am staying with my parents on the golf course while doing treatments and health related stuff, but I still have the condo in Dallas that I always hurry back to every chance I get. At the moment, I am in Dallas at the condo. Hopefully I will feel up to staying here until I have to go back to do my next lab work.

Thanks for stopping by and for your prayers*! (((hugs)))

Hi Blondie--what a fun post this is. So many things going on for you. Your flowers are beautiful. My husband and I have seen Billy Joel and Elton John in concert and it's a terrific show. They each did a set alone and then sang some songs together--a great evening!

Hello Jane!! What a day - and we are so jealous of that fabulous cottage you must have on the lake - lucky lady!! We were in Orlando FL during the game - we even thought about getting tickets - but didn't - a shame! Mark was all over the news that night & all through the week down there.
Enjoy your week (and those brownies!!)

Hi Janie,
You made laundry sound fun! Well, maybe not but your post sure was fun and your plants look gorgeous! Oh, going up to the lake sounds just fabulous! My hubby wants to go to Door County in a couple of weeks and I'm hoping we have some nice summer weather. I guess I shouldn't complain because it has been beautiful just a bit cool for July. Oh, I would love to see Billy Joel and Bruce and Cher! Your daughter is living the life! Take care and come by and visit when you can! Hugs, Cindy

This all looks like great fun! I enjoyed Elton John in college a million years ago when he was in concert at our school. I would love to see Billy Joel.

Hope you are having a wonderful time at the lake, Janie. Wish I were there instead of doing what I've been doing with house stuff. LOL!

XO,

Sheila :-)
