Jane- It is so peaceful looking there...laid back and serene. It is the perfect escape from city life, isn't it? I hope you enjoy every moment of your summer there. The days are just flying by! xo Diana
Your daisies are just gorgeous Jane! I love your beautiful lake house, what a fun time we had there. Dan went up North all last week to do some remodeling for a friends mom. She had such a hard time finding a carpenter. Al is looking good! Summer is just flying isn't it..hugs friend, I need to go back to bed. Cindy
Lovin' the daisies Jane, they look very happy and healthy! Sounds like you're having a nice time, we're in the 60's this morning here too. Almost feels like fall:@)
Hi Jane, what a wonderful cozy place to get away from it all, love all the decor.....the daisies are beautiful, they are tall.......the trellis is lovely as is the swing, that would be my favorite spot.....Enjoy, Francine.
Love seeing the photos and reading about the relaxed pace of life at the lake...sweetness. One can almost feel the cares of the world drop off after a day or two.
Your lake home is just lovely. & I know what you mean about always something to do. It is a 2nd home that always needs attention. Last week I went by myself in that terrible heat & humidity & washed all the windows, power washed the deck. We are having a couple of big parties in Aug. so I wanted to get a jump on some bigger projects.... Trusting that your husband is recovering well.... what a nice place to do that Enjoy your weekend!!
Your Lakehouse retreat is a beautiful place...the unfinished carpentry reminds me of the newel post in "It's a Wonderful Life!"...it's bothersome, but the charm prevails! Take care and enjoy! w/L.
So glad that you and hubby are having a time of relaxation while at your sweet lakehouse, Jane. There's no other place I'd rather be. LOVE the photo of the chair with the pot of flowers on it!! xo
With kids in college and weddings...we just do what we have to (I so know where you are coming from). My baby girl is moving out on her own in 2 weeks...finally...no kids on daddy's payroll:) Love that arbor that your husband made...I have always wanted one like it. Enjoy your time there.
Loved having a visit to your lake house, those shelves in the kitchen with the white dishes look wonderful and I didn't notice anything unfinished! What a peaceful place. I would be napping every day too. As far as your wall, maybe it needs a fourth thing to balance it..like a wreath (or an old window?) ... but really I'm no expert, but I see what you mean about something more.
How fortunate you are to have such a lovely place to get away! I can never fully relax at home, too much that needs to be done. I think the daisies are beautiful and I love your kitchen:>)
Hi Jane... love love love your lakehouse!... there is just nothing like the slow~paced way of life in the country... your new fish on the wall look great... I found a pretty wreath made out of shells at HomeGoods... maybe one of those by them?... or maybe a cool photo you have of your hubby fishing, then enlarge it and put it in a rustic frame and hang it by them?... your Daisies are gorgeous, and yes, you do need to cut them back in the fall... and your arbor is so pretty... I would just sit there for hours with my coffee watching the boats in the lake... and your old chair that was in RH is my very favorite... it just says "Country" and welcome... have a beautiful day... I emailed you my pickle recipe... I am still up to my neck in pickles!... xoxo Julie Marie
That arbor is gorgeous! I have a small one I got on clearance at Joann's and I'm trying to get my bougainvillea to climb it. It looks very relaxing there. I just know y'all enjoy it so much. :) Won't it be great when we get all our kids out of college? :) Love your daisies too.
I loved the tour of your lake house ~ so full of charm and such a nice view of the water ~ I'd love to sit in your swing and just take it all in!! Continue to enjoy yourself and relax, time flies so fast ~ Judi
We certainly do have a lot in common, don't we?! I can relate to the relaxed feel you describe. When we get to our lake cabin, everything slows down, including my blood pressure.
The flowers should be cut back in the fall. If you do that, I think next year you'll be glad you did.
Hi Jane, It looks so peaceful there at your lake house. I hope the carpenter didn't get paid up front. So many take the money and run leaving a lot unfinished. I would find me a place on your covered deck with either my embroidery or a book. I might even take a nap there. Sometimes we all need naps. I love your flowers. It has cool down here with a little rain. Enjoy being at the lake. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
I am sooo in love with your lake house. It is just beautiful. sorry your carpenter went north...hope you can find another soon. Enjoy your beautiful vacation place.
Love your cottage and again I want mine back. I just read this week where you can get Pottery Barn slip covers for $29.....now I can't find the source. Something like ugly sofas or something. I think the floral is fine for your cottage. Keep on napping and resting.
Just beautiful, Jane! I wouldn't worry about the unfinished bits. A real Lake House always has projects to be finished, a little raw lumber somewhere or other!
I love the arbor out to the water...it is so pretty. I think it looks like a wonderful place to relax...although my guess is that in a few more weeks you might be a little too relaxed and need some shopping, busy therapy!!
I've never had a workman leave me in the lurch, just a painter whose helper robbed me (cash and jewelry). Sorry you've been let down, hopefully I good guy will be taking his place some day in the near future Jane.
Al looks good out there - so glad he's enjoying the lake - and come on, you know you come before any ole truck or boat!!!!!!!!
If you have an old fishing rod, with line, perhaps mount it on the wall so it's looks like the fish are possible dinner! Know Al loves to fish. Just a thought as you said something is missing. Your lake house really is delightful.
Love and hugs - glad you've at last found some quiet time dear friend.
I love your lovely lake house! It is perfect to relax in! I could sit out by that lake for hours! Hope the Hubby gets back to lifting soon:) Have a blessed weekend dear Jane, HUGS!
You are SO lucky to have this cottage for a getaway spot. Though Brian works so much that we'd never have the time to get away, lol! That's OK that there's things that still need fixing and finishing in your cottage...isn't it always that way with any house you own? We've lived here for 23 years and are constantly fixing things or updating. Your kitchen is so pretty. Love the open shelving. You mentioned the area to the left that the carpenter left undone. It doesn't look undone to me...looks like a glass-covered cabinet? Can you put things inside on the shelves for display? Your daisies are so pretty - they're one of my favorite flowers. I have no idea if you're supposed to cut them back though. You could do a google search and find out, I suppose. Talk to you soon!
The arbor is fantastic! Yes, I can see the seats inside. Your husband is amazing! Wow! Just beautiful. Everything in your home is beautiful. I have the same flowers you do..and they are a bit of a pain to cut back, but I love that they always return..
When you have time isn't it amazing all that you notice? Like you, I love wandering with my camera and taking it all in. Enjoy that slower ace; I'm sure it won't last!
Hi Janie! Oh, I love your lake house and the pace sounds wonderful to me. It is so pretty and peaceful looking. To see the water each day is so relaxing! Enjoy yourself and talk to you later. Be a sweetie, Shelia ;)
The lakes here are suffering from the drought, so seeing your pretty lake beside your home is refreshing. I think a lake house would be wonderful! Love the bed of daisies. ~ Sarah
We don't have Homegoods here but I would sure love to find one next time I cross the border. I think what the issue is on the porch is that the Lake House sign is too small. I see it on a small shelf with maybe a fishnet hanging from the corner and a few shells to make an impact. My husband works much harder at the cabin than he does at home yet he finds it relaxing and rewarding. Go figure.
Hi Jane, Your lake house and yard look so pretty and definitely a relaxing place to spend time. And I know you're way above No. 1 on your husband's list of favorites!! Mary Alice
Well, that was pretty stinky of that carpenter to up and leave you, Jane! :( Believe me, how well I know that there is always something to start and finish in a home...especially living in an old farmhouse. :) But homes - like us - are always a work in progress and a labor of love! I adore that arbor covered in the clematis! Amazing!!!! :) xoxo laurie
What a gorgeous lakeside cottage - how lucky that you get to spend your summers there...........it looks beautiful - don't stress about makeovers there - that's for your " other " life - there's absolutely no reason to do anything other than relax in such a beautiful setting! Much love, XOXO
Hi Jane, Love the basket and Adirondack chairs! Lots of great finds at these shops I'm sure. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I think we all need to get away from the hectic day to day living every now and then. We are getting ready to make an annual trip to do something similar. We rent a home and JUST be. It's wonderful.
What a wonderful place to go and relax. Naps are a good thing. I have really tall daises too, yes I do trim them back because they die to the ground here.
Oh, can I move in while your away?? What a beautiful place! I have been lurking, and drooling about your beautiful lake house, just too lazy to comment lately. LOVE that stone wall! Actually, I love everything about the place.
the only bad thing is that carpenter! what a haven you have, jane! love the arbor, the water, boat, flowers, and your lakehouse is awesome! your husbands new desk spot and you new window is awesome, too:)
love going to shipshewanna, but, empty nesting, not so much--you learn to live with it, i guess. have a great week!

Too bad about the carpenter, but I really admire your attitude. Life is just too short to let those things consume you. It looks so peaceful.
Just have fun!!!

Oh, I love it all, finished or not! the kitchen is truly charming and those couches are vintage! They don't look crazy, they look warm :-)

Love the swing. Everything looks so comfortable and relaxing. Gorgeous outside too!
Jane, I love your lake house! And what would life be without a project or two to be done?! :)

Hi Jane,
I would feel right at home in your Lake House. It's warm and inviting and reflects you....beautiful and kind in everyway.

Two things:
1. Can I live with you?
2. Thank you so much for your comments on my blog. You always make me laugh and I love them!
