I did a lot of work around the house over the past few weeks, things I had wanted to do but thought, "I'll get around to it.". And as usual, it starts with one little change, like a new valance for the bathroom window. This is a very small bathroom with a tiny sink and vanity and I wanted some surface space. A trip was made to Home Depot where they cut a long piece of pine in half for me and I found wood brackets that fit. I painted everything with the same paint used for my living room. DIL, Mary Clare and I hung them last week, okay MC did 99% of the work, I just stared in awe at how good she was with a power drill!
Abigail is leaving for Florida with a big group of kids on Saturday. They are renting a house on the beach for a week of fun in the sun. Oh, I'm envious! It's going to be a little lonely without her. She finished classes last week. I have flowers to plant...oh, yes, the front yard was seeded, you can see me out there every morning in my jammies dragging the sprinkler around in the mud. Grrrrrr....I'm just going to plant a few pots for the front porch and steps, and backyard patio, I have enough watering to do. And then I'll do the same thing over again at the lakehouse. Hopefully we will get up there soon, plans this weekend and we have to round up my sons and some of their hunky...I mean strong friends to help with setting out the patio furniture, cleaning the boats, getting out the wave runners and kayaks...ugh, so much to do! The Husband has been totally dreaming and preparing for his big summer of fishing. He has driven into Indiana several times to the Bass ProShop for all sorts of crazy fishing gear. Son Jeff remarked to him the other day, "For someone who rarely catches a fish, you sure do have a lot of stuff"! Too funny!
I'll see all of you later in the week!
I'm joining Sherry at No Minimalist Here for her Open House Party
XO,
Jane

I wish I had your energy. I swear I'd still be in bed recovering from the wedding!
Your shelves are wonderful. I like both of them. Great job. Hugs, Marty
Hi Jane, oh I love those old hooks, look wonderful as do the shelves, great decorating......sweet Granddog, what a face, Blessings Francine.
Your bath and living room look great Jane!
I just love your gallery wall. The art looks lovely with your sofa. Gorgeous!! So is the bathroom.
I love your changes! Bathroom and living room both look great. I think you hit the nail on the head with your living room - the wall arrangement looks fantastic. LOVE the art prints. Perfect in that space. Your new little granddog is so cute. :-)Hope you'll be able to get up to the lake house soon!
it does feel like a bit of a let down after the big day, kinda like christmas, we build up to it then bam its alllover! Your bathroom looks lovely, I really like the calm cool shades, I hope you have a good time at the lake this weekend if you go
Wow, you've gotten a lot done, Jane! I thought you'd still be relaxing. : ) The shelves looks great and what a great idea they are! Your son's comment to your hubby sounds like my son.
You have far more ambition that I have had recently, Jane! The shelves look great.
Rusty is adorable.
Have a wonderful week...
I just read your previous post about the wedding. Just beautiful. You looked wonderful and your husband is handsome. Your daughters are so pretty too. Wedding are so much fun.
Everything just looks gorgeous! Isn't HomeGoods just the best! I am really glad we don't have one close, but when I am in Florida (or even St. Louis) I usually stock up on all sorts of things I don't need. Last month I actually left with almost nothing...I seem to be in more of a clothing mood than a house mood right now.
I'm glad you finally can relax and just "be" for a little while. We are just kicking into gear for our upcoming. The photographer was booked today, the florist while we were in Florida in April. The "save the date" cards have been ordered. Here we go...
Like your shelves, they look great. I usually have luck at Homegoods. Sounds like you will be having fun at the lake house also with your fishing, Ha!
I LOVE the picture of sleepy doggie! I haven't been fishing in years..
Everything looks so neat and organized!
I like your tweaks! Now you'll be tweaking at the lake house.

Hi Janie! Oh, you've been a busy little bee! Love your little shelf in the bathroom. I need to do this to an empty wall over the toilet! :) Your living room looks pretty and I'm sure your flowers will too. Now you're supposed to be resting! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hi Jane, thanks for stopping by Quirky Vistas and leaving me your sweet comment. I enjoyed visiting here and I'm now following as well. Have fun with the planting. It sounds like you have some fun times ahead!
Liz
I like the shelves, Janie. good addition and functional too. Isn't Homegoods wonderful? I love that store. Glad you got some free time now. Enjoy! I am in FL right now busy with the babies so have not been visiting, will have to scroll down to see if there are wedding pics....Christine
Love the hooks and the changes in the bathroom. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing, liz
Your bathroom looks so neat! I love the shelves!!! I can't believe your doing so many projects so soon after the wedding. You're a rock star!
AW! The little grand dog is so cute....he's a little Boston Terrier fur baby, right? I want more photos of Rusty. i'm dog crazy!
xo,
RJ
Hi Jane, I love the bathroom and living room makeover. You had a beautiful bride and all the attendants were absolutely stunning. I love the picture of you and dad. You made an awesome couple. You do get exhausted, but the memories and the pictures to come make it all worth while. I imagine the house will be a little lonesome at first. I love your grand dog. He is so cute. We were in the 90's yesterday and the 80's today. I set outside for a while after I got home to unwind. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from your Missouri Friend.
Looking GOOD!!! It all starts with a simple 'one little thing' and that lead son and on and on.....
Love it ALL!!
Jane,
I love the bathroom and living room they came out so pretty. Glad you are getting new grass!!!!Glad to hear someone else waters in their jammies!!!
Kris
Well, I am loving what you've done here. Looks super. And those pics of the pups I really love.
And that new pup? I want to steal him. What a love!
XO,
Sheila
Love, love your shelves, Jane! They both looks so pretty!
Oh what a beautiful wall! You did an awesome job:) Have a blessed and restful week dear friend, HUGS!
Your living room looks really nice, Jane. Large wall spaces are so hard to decorate and you did a great job.
Your bathroom looks really pretty too ~ shelves are nice because you can change your accessories and have a new look very easily. Have a great day!
What a great idea to make shelves for your bathroom. They look great. I'm always in awe of girls that use power tools too. I'm scared of them! I'm in love with your grand-dog, Rusty! I have that same breed and it sounds like he's doing what he's supposed to. They play hard and sleep hard! Wish I could see him in person. I might have to steal him though. LOL!
Hi Jane, I have now caught up on your posts. I have been in that yard for far too long. Emily was gorgeous. And so were you-that hair! The shelf looks great. You and MC did great work. I think gallery walls are a bit of a dilemma to configure too. In regards to our mutual rabbit problem there is a remedy. We could plant marigolds around the garden and that keeps rabbits away. My neighbors do this around their veggies and no rabbits-They are all here with me:} Olive
I love the iron hooks! I bet they come in handy all the time. I think you did a great job on everything! Love the pic of your "granddog." So sweet!! We just got our kayaks out recently too. The boys take them out all the time, but I've never been. I should probably try it out at least once. :)
Isn't it nice to get things hung and done! I am still waiting for my brackets as my FIL is making them ~ I start vacation tomorrow so I am hoping he gets them done so I can get the shelves hung!
Hi Janie! Oh, I'd love to have seen you on your wedding day. I'm sure you were most gorgeous.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hi Jane Sweetie...
Oh what a beautiful share. Lovee the shelves and that little antique hook is just simply the element of surprise in the room. I love it.
Love that grand dog, as you know I too have a Boston Terrier. He is 13years old and at the end of his journey soon. He has been the best little thing. They are so smart, funny and entertaining. They will run till they drop. Can't wait to watch him grow through your blog.
Loved seeing the pics of the wedding rehearsal, the trolley and the gals. So perfect sweet friend. Thank you for sharing.
Was thrilled to see you pop by. I hope to keep blogging again, at least once a week anyway.
Many hugs and so much love, Sherry
Jane you must have energy to burn! I can't imagine getting all of that accomplished a week after a wedding. I'd still be sitting with my feet up!
Hi Jane...I haven't been blogging in a while, so I wanted to come over and catch up. The wedding pictures are wonderful!!!
Sounds like you had a joyous day.
I like what you've done with your house. The new shelves all look great!
You must be anxious to get to the lake, and relax, huh?
enjoy this weekend.

Jane!

Hubby hung two floating shelves and two open boxes in my craft room and then threatened that if I ever bought another one, he'd take his tools and leave! Lol! He has tons of patience so I was surprised that these were so vexing to him. Needless to say, if I redecorate in there, it will be around those shelves. :)
When you have a small room, a long wall sounds like a dream...until you try to arrange it. I'll have to write about our family room wall one day. Oy! (shaking head)
I just read the wedding post. How wonderful. You have too much energy - I am hoping to veg for a while after ours!!
your rooms are so soft and pretty, jane:) i LOVE rusty! your kitchen is awesome--love the open shelves! fishing ahead for your husband--good for him:)
I really love the open shelves and white dishes. Very pretty.
