CANDICE OLSON VISITS & MORE DECORATING NEWS

I busied myself with what I could accomplish in the meantime.  Remember those dried hydrangeas I found on eBay?  They came all the way from Seattle so I thought they deserved something nicer than a simple vase.  I dug through my baskets and containers and found this guy...I think it's from Wisteria, it came in a set of three.  I filled it with moss from Michael's and poked the dried flowers in it.    I think these are the prettiest hydrangeas I've ever found on eBay and you can't beat $7.50 for a nice sized bunch!

Things You Might Like To Know About Candice Olson

She is as sweet as she is beautiful.
She is super tall.
She played professional volleyball in Canada
She will not be coming here to give me decorating tips.

Back on the redecorating/organizing front here, I dragged the big area rug from LL Bean to the post office to return it.  Never believe it when a company says, "easy returns".  The post office really frowned on me using 10 rolls of masking and electrical tape to wrap it so I had to stand in the vestibule and redo it with packing tape.  Then I had to run back home because I forgot the address where I was sending it.  And it cost $30.00 to return it.  But I kept my chin up and spent a crazy amount of time this week organizing rooms and tossing junk.  All I have left is the den (our catch all room) and the office (another catch all room).  We will probably just close Abby's door as we always do when we have company.

Well, The Husband and I are off to Homegoods to return the floating ledges.   They are impossible to hang so I bit the bullet and ordered two from Pottery Barn.  I also ordered and received (in 4 days!!) two framed prints from Art.com.  I will share them after I have the monster, pain in the neck wall in my living room finished.   Where's Candice when I need her?

Joining Tweak It Tuesday at Cozy Little House.  See you there!

XO,
Jane

How exciting that Emily met Candice! That must have been a super thrill for her. One that will stick with her a long time.

What fun that little dresser is in pink. I love it and what a perfect nursery piece.

It is a MESS to return something big through the mail, isn't it? I have only done it a couple of times and swore "never again"...or I might have said "never again" and THEN swore!;>)

Sorry about the internet but hope your day shopping with the hubs will cheer you up! xo Diana

Your potatoes sound delicious! I'll be sure and try that. You could do any kind of cheese.

Can't wait to see the art you've ordered. I've ordered a few things from there and have had good luck. There's one that I have my eye on now. Is it all still 30% off? Need to check on that.

I loved catching up with you! You have SO much going on!
The potatoes caught my eye. I'm like you - I try to fix them in as easy and tasty way as possible without the boiling and cooking them to death! I am going to try your recipe this week in one of our evening meals.

Not to long ago I bought something (roman shades)from overstock.com. One of them didn't work. I emailed overstock.com, they emailed me instructions on how to print out a free of charge shipping label. I printed it out, slapped it on the box and dropped it at a local UPS store...easy peasy. It is a shame that not all companies are that easy.

How fun for your daughter to get to meet Candice!!

Yes, I have picked out the fabric for my bedroom, but I have not ordered it yet...soon!
Hugs,
Penny

I'm glad that things are going better for you. I can just see you lugging that big rug and having to redo the wrapping! Oh My I probably would have just kept it and sold it later in my booth. I've been known to hoard a few rug mistakes! LOL!

Love those hydrangeas - they are gorgeous. I have two hydrangea bushes, but they're only a few years old, so not very big. Can't wait until they grow and I get tons of flowers. Very cool that Emily got to meet Candice Olson - love her! I always knew that she was very tall because she towers over everyone on her show! OK, I just had to google it, lol...she's 6'0. That's really tall for a female - no wonder she played volleyball! Anyway...love the dresser that Emily got, too. Such beautiful detail. xoxo

Oh how exciting! I love Candace even though her decorating is way too fancy for me. Emily must have been swoony-at least I would have been. Your decorating struggles are encouraging to me since I have my share of them, too. How do they ever redo all those houses on HGTV in 24 hours or some other ridiculous amount of time?

awww, those squirrels can be SUCH a problem. They ate into some electrical wires around here a few yrs back. Some people think they are cute...NOT ME. !!

I love that tall, beautiful Candice...love the way she decorates...money never seems to be a problem with her. :)
Your daughter must have loved standing beside her, washing hands.

I am looking for a large, indoor/outdoor rug and refuse to order it online...afraid I might have to return it and I know how HARD that can be....glad u got u'rs
returned. Sorry it was such a problem.
