FEBRUARY VIGNETTES

Here on the island I have two candles I won in a giveaway last week from Kelly at Coastal Cottage Dreams.  I'm burning the one called Hazelnut Coffee.  Totally Yum!  You may want to visit Kelly, she sells these cute candles and I will definitely be stocking up on some more.  Thanks, Kelly!

My big adventure was taking the dogs to the vet on Thursday.  Dr, Fisher is the nicest lady in the world and my pups are very sweet gentle souls.  But once they get in the exam room, they shake and cry and try to hide...they know the routine!  It takes both me and an assistant to hold them firm so she can examine them and give their shots.  Layla was snapping at her a little, so as much as it kills me, I had her muzzle them.  Afterward, the assistant took Milo back to the lab to do blood work. A bit later the assistant popped in the door and urgently called Dr. Fisher out.  A few minutes later I heard on the intercom, "We have a bleeder in the lab."  I nearly had a heart attack and had to restrain from running down there.  I kept thinking of Milo lying in a pool of blood.  I repeatedly told myself, "I have kids...I've been through everything; stitches, broken bones, concussions."  But I was frantic.  After about ten minutes, the doctor came in and explained that Milo was struggling and scratched his face in two places and they had to put compresses on him...he was fine.  He has some little scabs and one bled a little this morning but he's okay.  They slept a few hours after their big adventure.  I thought about a Xanax and a shot of whiskey!  They are my babies!

So that was my week at a glance.  We have a very cold weekend predicted, but even so, The Husband and I are going to go out and look at cars.  My lease is up soon and I am going to get a Forever Car finally!  Even though I got to drive a new car every 3 years, and I always got the same make, model and color (I'm so adventurous!), I hated giving them back.  So I'm excited.

Okay, have to run.  I will be back soon.  Have you noticed I'm posting a little more often?  Is that a good thing? lol! :)

I'm joining Marty from A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday, as well as Claudia at Mockingbird Hill Cottage for her Favorite Things Party.  Please join in!!

Candles always add such a soft and comforting glow to everything. Super cute little mousie plate. :-) I know what you mean about your pets being your babies. Our cats try to hide when they have to make their yearly visit to the Vet. Then they sulk for the rest of the day.
I bet your hair will look gorgeous on wedding day!

You've been busy! I've been lazy! I mean L.A.Z.Y.!!! Oh well, my husband says I've earned it, so I'm listening to him (for once)! Like your vignettes. They look nice! We took our 'tiny dog' to the Vet the other day to be spayed and she was still loopy when we picked her up. She was so cute. She thought she could run up the stairs, but found out her hiney was sore, so she slowed down. She's chiuaha/terrior mix. Someone sat her out, and we rescued her. She's a sweetie. Love our babies. We also have a 96 pound German Shepherd. They get along fabulously! Thank goodness. Have a great weekend!

Wow. You are one busy gal, Jane! lol! I love days when I can putter around the house and create new vignettes while clean sheets tumble in the dryer. :) Makes me so happy! I know how you feel about your furbabies. I get the jitters when I have to bring Maizie in for her yearly heartworm test and nail trim! lol So glad that you're posting more often, too, sweetie! I always love visiting here!

You're a brave soul to venture out in 1 degree weather! But you got a lot accomplished, and it all looks lovely. Hope your pups are rested from their "ordeal", those poor fur babies. xo

Your vignettes turned out so pretty!
Using Picmonkey is so easy and once you start editing your photos you'll never want to go back!
Your poor doggies. I remember how much the vet used to terrify my cats.
I hope it warms up for you soon!

Love all your candles, Jane, and your bits of red here and there. Love your tray vignette, too. I am sorry it is such a struggle to get your dogs to the vets. We haven't had dogs in a long time but used to have to take our kitties in. They were both pretty good and our Maine Coon used to take his shots without even flinching. The other one would hiss and spit and growl...lol

Hope you have a good weekend and have fun car shopping-xo Diana

I don't blame you for staying in today - it is frigidly cold out there! And I was out a lot of the day today, doesn't that figure? I went to pick up some lunch at Panera and then drove to my former workplace to visit for a couple of hours. Then stopped at Jewel on the way home for a couple of things. Then out to a movie tonight, and coffee after that! Oh well, you know us Chicago folks...a hearty bunch!

Aw, your poor doggies at the vet's office. My cats freak out too, but they're very good the vet.

Interesting cookbook you showed - I'll have to check out what it's about and the reviews on amazon. Just what I need...another book or cookbook! lol

Hi Janie! Oh, stay warm! I don't do very well in the cold. Poor little fuzzy faces - I hope they are happy to be home now! Love seeing your candles. I love to keep a little flame going too.
Thank for popping in to see me and I think my scale is older. I got it in an antique store.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Yikes! 1 degree? Did I read thar right? Girlfriend stay inside! Glad the pups are bothIK after the big adventure! Elle has to go in soon for her shots. I can't believe how much she's grown!

Thank you also for the sweet words about the new house. We put a contract on it & have had the inspection. Now we're waiting for the appraisal. We hope to close on the 22 of February. There is soooooooo much work to do on it! It is very dated & the owners had very bad taste. We're looking at it as an opportunity to make it ours! Otherwise if I looked at the work ahead of us I might change my mind! Stay warm!

Hi Jane,
I am so thankful that I'm back on the NC coast where it's much warmer than the north. Every muscle and bone in my body aches when it's cold! LOL!
Love the chalkboard and all your pretty vingettes. My kitties are so afraid of going to the Vet and I know what you mean. Last night I definitely needed a xanax and some vodka...Gizzy is having a hard time adjusting to her new surroundings and keeps us up all night long.
Stay warm and cozy.

Your hair will be beautiful, I am sure. After all you are Blondie. But you know we will all want to see pictures from the wedding. Stay warm and safe. xoxo,Susie

I really like your new vignettes! When it's cold outside it's fun to piddle around the house inside and do something creative. I can't believe your temp was only 1! That must be so uncomfortable. Regarding the vet visit, I can relate to once having a dog that was petrified of going there. He was so nervous and upset. He had to be muzzled too. Then after his passing and we got a different breed, we were pleasantly surprised at how jovial he was with the whole visit! He thought he was just visiting friends. LOL! What a relief!

Sweet vignettes in Blondieville!!
I especially like your family room, Jane. It's so cozy in there.
I agree with you. Having candles burning during the day keeps the warm feeling going during the winter months.
I'm hoping your hubby is feeling better?
Enjoy your week!!

I love your candles, and that little cheese plate is sooooo whimsically cute!

Your poor fur babies. Bless their hearts! I know you're happy that ordeal is *over.*

I have a few appointments this week (ones I had to cancel when I was sick). Trying to get caught-up!

Oh your poor babies! They must be terrified at the vet's and I know you were scared to death. Glad Milo is okay. Loved the photo of the two of them. My son said you guys got some snow. We got just a dusting this morning which is enough for me. xoxo

Love your little vignettes ~ I bought a new lemon candle last week and I cannot wait to light it up ~ it just smells so fresh in the kitchen. Poor little Milo ~ why is the trip to the vet so traumatizing for some of our little fur babies? Luckily Molly has never had any issues and she does not stress out when she goes. Congrats on finding a new car ~ we just went through that and I am happy with our pick. Have a great week Janie. xo

Poor puppy. Our dog loved going to the vets. Our cat...not so much. We had quite a history and his chart was notated in a rather unflattering manner.

Hi jane,

My daughter used to suffer with eczema and I used Eurcerin cream and it really helped.

I love all of your candles, they are lovely. I thought about how cold it was near you and shivered. We haven't had a very cold winter in Massachusetts. Just a few days.

That cookbook looks wonderful, I will look for it. Have a beautiful day.

Congratulations on your win.

So shall we still call you Blondie if you change your hair color, lol.

Poor doggies, it must be very traumatic for them...I took one of the farm dogs in to the vet once, she shook so badly. Boots doesn't seem to care, so for a scardy cat that's impressive.

Hope all is well with them.

I cannot imagine 1 degree, oh my goodness I'm freezing when it gets down to the teens. You sure made a lot of pretty vignettes. I despise taking the dogs to the vet, they act like they're walking the green mile LOL. It always make me feel scared and helpless. I'm glad your fur baby is okay, that must have been an awful feeling.

Tammy said...

Gosh! That is way too cold for me. Hope things have warmed up a bit. I'm so glad to hear that Milo is okay. Very scary situation indeed. Your home looks very cozy by candlelight. With cold weather like that, I would definitely be cozied up inside. Hope you are having a good week. Tammy

Amanda (Small Acorns) said...

Staying in and lighting lots of beautiful candles sounds the perfect antidote to the cold weather Jane. I'm not sure I'd be motivated to do much at all, except perhaps snuggle up with a good book, but it's nice to have the chance to potter about at home. My dog quakes and shivers every time he knows he is off for a haircut - which happens to be this week, not that he knows that just yet. Once he gets there he usually behaves - just!

Haworth said...

Your pictures are lovely, Jane. I particularly love the images in your family room. I've been lighting scented candles a lot, lately... they're so soothing in the house on a cold day.

"Cottage By The Sea" said...

If I lived where it was 1 degree out, my dogs wouldn't think of doing their business outside. How does that technically work anyway? Isn't 32 degrees freezing? So... You can tell I'm a wimpy California girl! Your vignettes are darling. You really know how to keep handily busy on a blustery day. Everyone keeps telling me that if I'd get rid of my 14 yr. old mini van and got a new car, I'd like driving more. I hate driving, so my old car is a good excuse. If I got a new one I'd feel guilty if I didn't drive it all the time. My daughter got a new Jeep Compass recently and LOVES it. Good luck on your new car. Sorry about your pup and his vet incident. Mine hate the vet too. But then again they also shake and quake when they go to the doggy spa, and I just don't get that. Nothing I love more than a good spa treatment! You keep warm now darlin'.

Tricia said...

It seems like you always have so much going on! I'll bet that vet visit was a nightmare, it doesn't help that it's so cold out when you have to go either. The vet keeps sending me reminders to bring my cats in, but I'm kind of avoiding it for the moment. Good luck with your car shopping :)

Yes, I'm a wreck when at the Vet's. Good thing he's a personal friend or he'd be worried about me. Molly, my miniature poodle, tries to climb into my arms to get away from him. It's awful. I'm glad that nothing was terribly wrong with your furbaby...just a scratch. Too bad that they can't dispense tranquilizers for everybody concerned! =D
