BLUE MONDAY: EASTER & A BREAK!

Good morning everyone! Happy Blue Monday! Please visit Sally, our hostess for today's event and you will find a list of all the gals participating. Please pay them a visit to see all thing blue!
Above is my front door with a simple wreath from Pier I. I think I am going to have to do a little re~wiring, don't you think? This door gets a lot of traffic going in & out and the wreath is taking a beating! But it is cute, isn't it? And BLUE!!!
On my table I have a simple pitcher in a matching bowl that I recently bought at a "Flea~tique" store. I wish I could remember the blogger who coined this term, it is fitting for a lot of the place I scour around at! The pitcher is holding faux white tulips and greenery from Hobby Lobby, carefully arranged by my Future Interior Designer Daughter Emily. In fact, she did the whole table yesterday. Surrounding the pitcher is an egg garland, also from Pier I. Place mats from Steinmart (Does anyone have a Steinmart near them? It is like a glorified Marshalls). Love it!! :-) The place mats sit on top of a pretty runner from an Antique shop.
You might want to click on to enlarge. I love the paisley design on the place mats. Note the weather outside. These pictures were taken yesterday afternoon. First we had rain, then a violent thunderstorm with hail. The we had snow throughout most of the evening and night. The husband was on a flight coming back to Chicago from St. Louis when the thunderstorm hit. He said that the plane hit horrible turbulence and was dropping and tipping and the seats belts were literally the only thing keeping the passengers in their seats. I am so thankful everything turned out okay and nobody was injured, especially my sweetheart!

And finally for Blue Monday I have this little map I tore out of a magazine. This you will definitely have to enlarge. Why, you ask does our little Yankee friend have a map of these Southern states? Well, a week from today The Husband and I leave for Charleston! Our little Abby is going to Jamaica for her spring break, so we thought we would take advantage of not having to worry about her at home alone, (somewhat, she has Kevin but he works long hours) so we planned this little impromptu trip! The page from a magazine was my inspiration!
The Husband has always wanted to take a road trip through the south, but that is going to have to wait until he retires, he just doesn't have the time. So this is a sort of compromise. Briefly; we are flying in to Charleston and I have booked us at the Francis Marion Hotel for a few days. We are then going to drive a rental to Hilton Head Island and we will stay at the Hilton Oceanfront Resort. We are then going to move on to Savannah and The Mansion on Forsyth Park. Then we will fly home from there. Does this sound like fun?? I am really excited and I had a blast planning all the details. Those little red stars next to the hotel names are very helpful, and this blonde knows to count up to five! ;-) I am going to wait until we get there to get brochures and plan all of our sightseeing, but if anyone wants to recommend something we HAVE to see, please leave a comment. I have found out that Charleston will be in the middle of their Festival of Houses and Gardens and that is on my "To Do" list!!
So look out, Blondie is coming to town! ;-)
I hope everyone has a wonderful Blue Monday and a big thanks to Sally!
xoxo
Jane

It sounds like a great trip you have planned. In Charlestown, you MUST see and take pictures of the Painted Ladies. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

You're going to love Charleston! If you don't already have your Home Tour tix, check the Charleston Preservation Society website. Most years they sell out, especially on days when the Battery streets are scheduled, and you can only buy tickets in person if someone cancels. The Aquarium is very nice, and they have a rocking chair screened porch out back where you can sit and watch the ships come and go. The ghost tours are a lot of fun, too. Jestine's Kitchen is legendary, although the food is just good, not great, IMHO.

Love your table, and what a fabulous trip you have planned! Charleston and Savannah are two places that I've always wanted to visit, and somehow never got around to it. Someday soon I hope. Glad the husband made it home safe and sound. Thanks for the good wishes on Cait's recital, it went beautifully. Have a wonderful time and take lots and lots of pictures for us armchair (or laptop) tourists! Hugs, Kathy

Hi Blondie! Love your Easter decor, I will have to look for the egg garland, it's really cute. I do have a Steinmart relatively nearby (about an hour) and have gone a couple times. I would go more if it was closer. Have a terrific trip!

Hi, you stopped by when I was writing tomorrow's post. Yes, it's cold here in New England but the event tomorrow is supposed to be for ideas how to decorate your door for Spring. I added a few more notes about how we handle Spring in Massachusetts.

Oh, your wreath is lovely. I hope that you have a wonderful trip.

Janie, I can guarantee that you will have fun! My sister used to live in Charleston for many years, and I adore it! That festival is FUN, and then Savannah is a great city. I'm sorry you won't be coming to St. Augustine, too, but hopefully you will on another visit South! :-)

Have a great time! St. Simon's Island is another great spot to visit. AND don't forget to stop in Beaufort on your way from Charleston to Savnnah. It's a pretty place.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Oh Jane, You have picked a fabulous time to visit Charleston with all the azaleas and spring finery blooming. Can't wait to hear about it. And Hilton Head! Fabulous!

I didn't change a thing on my blog but so glad you like it. :)

Steinmart is my all time favorite store. My dream would be to have that store and my favorite grocery store move out here to the country but that's NOT going to happen. Have fun! xo Lynn
