ESCAPING CABIN FEVER & SOME DECORATING

The Husband wasn't feeling well when he got home and I thought maybe he exerted himself.  We had a simple dinner and then laid in bed reading the Sunday paper together, lights out at 10:00.  Today he is weak, tired and aching.  He took a nap in the late morning, I found him in bed with his bathrobe over his clothes and under about four quilts.  Emily made him eggs and toast for breakfast which he didn't touch.  We had soup for lunch and he did eat that.  He is back in bed now.  The house felt so drafty, for some reason we never ordered a load of firewood in the fall.  So I ran out to the store before I started writing my post and bought some of those Duraflame logs and made a fire.  They work quite well.  I have a roast cooking in the oven and I'm going to start boiling some potatoes when I'm finished here.

Another busy week ahead...a dermatology appointment for the chronic rash on my legs, stopping to pick out that fabric after, a hair appointment, and the dogs yearly check up with the vet.  And then next weekend is my birthday!  Yay!  Another year older and hopefully wiser!  See you soon! :)

Hi Jane... you are happy about snow... I am sick of it!... we have a blizzard again right now... guess that's why Utah's slogan is "the greatest snow on earth"... you would think I'd live in Tahiti or somewhere with my dislike of snow and cold... but... this is my home... okay, I will quit whining on your blog... that's great you get the room for 60% off, yikes!... what a deal!... looks like alot of fun with you, Emily and your nieces... you look so pretty!... and I love the flowery fabric where Milo is laying on the couch (Hello Milo!... doggie kisses!)... your front room is going to be even more beautiful!... hope hubby did not overdo things... men tend to do that... glad you were able to get some logs and keep warm... Tessy is supposed to see the vet tomorrow too for some shots, but the way the snow is coming down, I don't think we will be able to get out... we are having soup for dinner... your roast sounds delish!... stay warm!... Spring is out there... somewhere???... xoxo Julie Marie

I can't believe that you have had so little snow. Being so close to the lake as well. Don't blame your husband for wanting a bigger boat for being on one of those great lakes. They can be wicked. So sorry he isn't feeling well.
Happy Birthday coming up. Cute picture of you and the girly girls.
I laughed when you said you almost spanked your daughter, hah.
Your living rom looks so cozy with you fire going. It sounds like freezing rain ison its way here and will be melting our snow as well. Have a great week. Hope your hubby feels better.

What a lovely post. I always enjoy catching up with you and what you're doing! It rained a little here in Texas this afternoon. Didn't amount to much but it made for nice sleeping weather!

Those fire logs do work pretty well. We use them as a base to start our fires outside in the fire pit on the patio. Just wished they SMELLED like real wood!

Have a good week and I hope your hubby is feeling better!

I am sorry to hear your hubby is not feeling well, hope he rested up and is feeling better. Lots of germs still out there. I think it is wonderful that the banquet lady gave you 60% off! Keep warm, today it was much better than it has been in the past week. Looking forward to a warm up but lots of rain in the forecast. Why can't this darn rain move to the states they really need it?? xo

Jane, our TX winter has been a strange one. We've not had snow, but the temps have been cold until late last week. Really mild now and even got some garden work done today. I'm sure that seem strange to someone living in Chicago. ;-)
Looks like you girls had a great lunch.

Hello Jane,
Congrats on getting that awesome deal on the room and good luck with the menu:)Hope your hubs starts feeling better soon. This is my birthday week too:)

It's a skating rink out there! What happened to our Chicagoland weather? Gracie needs snow!
We went to Water Tower Place this week and I didn't wear a coat. Why would I? We went from our garage to the WTP garage...but everyone kept asking me where my coat was! LOL!
I hope your husband feels better soon...there is something creeping about out there!

Hi Jane, glad you got some snow finally. We still have a little left on the ground but it's supposed to warm up dramatically by the weekend so it won't last long. Love the picture of you with your daughter and nieces! I hope your husband feels better and that your appointments this week all go well!

It has been strange weather here with lots of ups and downs in temps. We are short on moisture like a lot of the midwest. I vote for that dessert in front of that cozy fireplace! Both look pretty inviting. Sorry your hubby is feeling so bad.

I hope the hubby doesn't have the flu Jane! The fabric sounds wonderful, your chairs are going to look so pretty! Have a great week and I hope the hubs feels better!
My mom's birthday is next weekend too on the 3rd.

I get exhausted just reading what you are up to, Jane! Sorry to hear your hubby isn't feeling too good. I hope he's not getting the flu. I've been paranoid about getting it this year since my doctor has mentioned the flu shot a couple of times. I've never gotten one and know that as I get older I should probably start to consider it.

Well I hope that your husband is feeling better. I think we've had more snow than you (ha!)....

I love the photo of you and the girls! I know y'all had a blast!

Hi Jane, It has been foggy and a misty rain all day. Just enough to be a pain. The plans for weddings are so much fun. Hope hubby didn't overdo. Sometimes they think they are much stronger then they really are. I didn't stay that long today, just didn't feel to whoopy I don't know if I ate something or what. I didn't need to give it to hubby if I was trying to come down with something. There is so much junk out there and of course, the flu bug going around is not what our flu shots were for. Have a wonderful week and try to stay warm. Hugs and Prayers from your Missouri Friend.

You sure have a lot going on,Jane. We are getting all your snow here- 4or 5 inches right now with freezing rain to follow....whoopeee....wish I could send you the snow.

I hope your hubby feels better- there is so much crap going around that it isn't funny.

I am so glad you got to get out a bit and spend some time with those girls. What fun...and that dessert looks way too good to me- I have really been struggling with the sugar again...what a monster!

Have a great night- xo Diana

You have a busy day planned, and please give Milo a hug for me..we have a scottie named Milo too, and 4 other terriers!

Hi Jane, We are going to hit 78 degress here in Louisiana today but at least it's not raining! Thanks for the recent visit! I think the yellow Fiesta plate did have some knife marks but it was so bad that it had to be something more, I just don't know what. I hope your husband gets to feeling better! Blessings, Tammy

Oh I hope the hubby feels better! My Daughter isn't feeling good today! Love the picture of you all enjoying time together and that YUMMY dessert:) I would like some of that right now! The snow is soooo pretty! Sometimes we get a late snow but none yet! Can't wait to see the new chairs all fixed up! Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!

Sue said...

We had a little bit of ice yesterday morning, then rain and today we are supposed to hit 60 degrees. Tomorrow is going to be in the 60's with storms, ugh.

I also have a sick husband. He is never, ever sick. He hasn't taken a sick day in 37 years except for when he had surgeries. He woke up Friday feeling "off" and by the time he got home, he was miserable. He spent the entire weekend on the couch in the basement and took off work today and called the doctor first thing (unheard of). She said he has the flu and he has been waiting with the rest of the town at Walgreens for medicine for an hour and still isn't home. He just called, sounds like he is dying and I can only imagine what he will be like when he gets here. He seems so stunned to feel so poorly...it just never happens to him. So much for the flu shot...I'm scared to death I'll catch it. I am trying to keep my distance!

The chairs will look great...can't wait to see them. Hope your husband gets better soon!

I'm going to tell you about smaller boats. My husband's friends took a not so small boat to Lake Michigan years ago... the boat capsized with two men swimming to shore... in cold, cold, waters, and one friend didn't make it.These guys were beside themselves with grief. It was one trip my husband didn't go on. After that incident...they all bought big boats. A hard lesson was learned.
I love hearing all about your daughter's wedding plans. She's a lucky young lady.

Hope hubby is feeling better ~ it seems like every time you turn around someone you know is sick this year! I think the new fabric for the chairs sounds wonderful ~ can't wait to see them completed. Brunch sounds great but I understand that it is not in the budget ~ little bugger! Sounds like she has a touch of Cinderella syndrome! Have a good week. xo

I'm up here in Ontario Canada and I think our weather is a lot like yours! Today has been a day of freezing rain. Just enough to make it very dangerous to drive!

Oh and that dessert you posted? I am sitting here freezing beside a fire and now craving ice cream, so thanks for that :)

wendy said...

You certainly have been busy. Lots of things going on for you right now.
I can't wait to see how the chair turns out once you redo it.
I think most everyone is getting a little tired of winter....but still a long way to go.

I love your newsy posts! Sounds like you've been a busy bee! I am so sorry to hear that your hubby possibly exerted himself and wasn't feeling well. Is he any better since you posted? Has he called his dr.? Guess it's a good thing you didn't go to Cedarburg. You're better off going in the spring anyway; there wasn't much to do up there and too cold to do much walking around. Love the pic of you and your daughter and nieces - you all look great. What's with the rash on your legs; is it eczema? My hubby suffers with that on his rib cage during the winter & for the first time ever, I have it on my forehead and eyelids! What's helping us is pure lanolin. We refuse to use any kind of steroid creme and we don't like things with chemicals in them either. You can get lanolin in liquid or salve form at a health food store. xoxo

Sorry to hear your hubby isn't feeling well. Hopefully he is up, and around now.
What a great picture of you, and the girls!! That dessert looks pretty yummy.
The weather up here has been crazy. We got almost a foot of snow two days ago. Today it's supposed to be in the 50's! Then back into the ice age by Thursday!!
Enjoy your day, sweet friend.

Blondie, You are one busy mommy, wife, and decorator. I love your fireplace, it looks nice with the fire. Your poor husband probably over did his day out.Keep a close eye on him. We have had every kind of weather here in central Indiana, this past week. The storms are coming our way this evening. I just hope not a lot of rain...the water has to go somewhere...I hate the thoughts of flooding and standing water. Take care of yourself, while you are looking out for your family.xoxo,Susie

So fun to catch up on what is happening up in the Windy City! Had to chuckle about wanting to spank your daughter! I would have probably gotten all caught up in the excitement and agreed, and then spent lots of time trying to justify the extra (unnecessary, really) expense. Hope you hubs is feeling better!
