LOVING SPRING AND SOME EASTER TREATS

If you do have space for some festive Easter decorations, you can make a tablescape easily by checking at companies like Shutterfly.  Their home decor area has customized items like placemats and table runners.  How's that for fun?!

Yesterday I woke up with resolve.  I tossed out all of the leftovers including a half dozen cookies and the remains of two cakes, scrubbed out the fridge, put away the bunnies and the candy dishes and then I saw my little baby looking forlornly outside...

I wanted to mention that I am doing a guest post over at Laura's blog, Decor To Adore.  She has a Friday feature called My Favorite 5.  I am sharing my latest and greatest beauty products.  I'd love for you to stop over at her blog on Friday if you have a chance.  I'll be back soon! :)

XO,
Jane

oh I'm so sorry you were sick but hopefully you are over the worst, you had a lovely dinner, I feel so bad for your little dog, poor little guy!

I can relate to the roof thing! All that banging can drive you nuts and you not feeling well either had to be bad. Sounds like you had a great Easter. Good for you, getting back on track with your diet. Pretty flowers!

What a fun post, Jane. As I was reading it I was thinking I hope she didn't get sick eating sugar after being off for so long. I hope you can get right back on the program. I have been struggling ever since I got off. Grrrrrr....SO frustrating!

Sounds like you had a nice Easter with family. We did, too.

I copied that recipe over to my files. My new ovens are supposed to get installed a week from today. They have been sitting here for SEVEN weeks so I will believe it when I see it.

Hope you have a good night- sounds like you are finally feeling a bit better. xo Diana

Glad you are better Jane. Your "sweets" look so good.

When you've been sugar free, and then have it...been there done that...it takes it toll.

We are both sports nuts around here. Right now watching our LA Dodgers.

Your daffodils are lovely...

I hope you feel totally well soon. Your desserts all look so delicious!

I so understand about the cold that won't quit. I think mine went from cold/bronchial to allergies but I have been rattling and wheezy coughing since we got home from Florida the middle of March. Everything is blooming here, so I am hoping that is the problem. I am glad you felt good enough to enjoy Easter.

We are getting a new roof as soon as the guy gets to us. I am not looking forward to how Zoe will react. She is terrified of loud noises.

I just ordered wedding pictures...yikes! Oh well, only happens once, right!

The Easter desserts were KILLER at Chrislyn and Jason's house too.
I think all of America is IN LOVE with SALTED CARAMEL! (Ina has a great recipe for caramel brownies too!)

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, but sorry to hear that the recovery process has been slow. I hope that the back yard fresh air was the perfect medicine!

I'm in Boise 'til Sunday. Just finished an eight hour road trip with Jay. We arrived just in time for him to do the six o'clock news. I get to watch him on the TEN from my hotel room!

Your Daff's are beautiful!
Happy Spring...finally!

Love your tennies!

Hi Jane, I hope you are feeling better. I know hubby hasn't got over his yet. Why when we take something out of our diet for a while then try to eat it again, we get sick. I have been there and done that. I love the flowers. I keep praying I don't get sick, but with the crazy weather who knows. Your brownies really sounded yummy. Take care of yourself. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri friend.

It sure seems like this bug hits hard. I hope you are feeling better. I hope you had some help with all those dishes. No wonder you had a belly ache.....not the food but so much going on. Feel better my friend.

Poor you, could it be a bad case of allergies perhaps? Anyway, I'm glad you still got to enjoy Easter at least and that beautiful day outside. Switching cable sucks too, we've had plenty of experience. Will check out your post for sure since I also follow Laura's blog. :-)

Hi Jane, your colds always hold onto you. Bless you. Your cookie images are beautiful. I am a sugar freak too and once down the sugar trail I am done for. It will be good once the new roof is finished. I love daffs too but moles eat mine unless I plant them in wire. Have a great weekend, olive

Sorry you've been sick and feeling bad.
Your daffodils are fabulous. They are such happy signs of spring in the garden. Mine are all just memories now.
I look forward to your Favorite Five post. I just finished writing mine this evening. Laura asked me to post on May 1. It was a fun project!

Good morning, Jane!

So HAPPY to hear from you once again! I had stopped blogging for 9 months, deleted the old blog & started a new one (which was not at all smart because I lost all my followers that way).
So, I'm so happy you found me again! :)

Such a busy time for you. Hopefully your new roof is finished, and you're feeling better & getting out in the sunshine. Your Easter get together looks like it was fun & your flowers are so pretty.

The snow is melting here, teeny tiny leaves are starting up in my cottage garden & we're talking w/ contractors about putting in interlocking paver walkways & patio. So on life goes...

Have yourself a lovely day, Jane!
Hugs,
Lin

Sometimes husbands and wives are just not on the same page. I guess we all need some space sometimes....
I know what you mean about the roof work. It is so hard on little animals as well as big ones like us. I can imagine how you felt...being under the weather and having all that racket.
As my friend says, "Sometimes life is pigeon poop!"
Hope you continue getting better....by the way...love those shoes.

Hi Jane, I had that same cold and while the worst of it is over I still need a box of tissues with me at all times and I have been exhausted for a week. My daughter had it a week before I did and is also still feeling some of the effects. Hang in there, all we can do is take it easy until we finally kick this thing to the curb. We had 12 for Easter dinner. When I have that many tablescaping is the last thing on my mind. I don't need an extra layer of dishes to wash! The important thing is we are all together. I had dessert too, then got back on the bandwagon Monday. Enjoying something a little sweet on holidays just has to be an option. Hope you feel better soon!

Yay for 70 degree weather!! I know that makes you happy. :) Your daffodils are so pretty! Hope you're feeling better by now. No television for FIVE days??? No way could I do that. I'm totally addicted to tv. Lol! I'll be sure to check out your guest post. Have a wonderful weekend!

Jane,
Sorry to hear that you have been so sick, but happy to hear you are better now. I really didn't need to know about those yummy brownies, since the mister and I are starting a diet next week :) Hope yours is going good for you. Take care and enjoy all the nice temps.

Glad you are all better now Jane. I hate getting sick this time of year. For us the pollen is brutal and makes me feel crappy. I love your daffy's. I have never grown them but would love to try.

Hi Jane, Sure hope you are feeling better. But it looks like you had prepared a wonderful Easter cake, cookies and all. I over did my cake too and now paying the price for so much sugar. It is amazing how the body tells you what is overdoing it.

Your daffodils look so petty. Looks like your weather is warming up and glad you enjoyed some garden time too.

Wishing you a great Thursday and wonderful weekend.

I ate terrible over the weekend & was actually looking forward to having veggies!

Deb @ Frugal Little Bungalow said...

Oh all of your sugary desserts look wonderful and clearly I am reading this at the wrong time of the day...since this made me hungry and it's not dinner time yet.

As to tablescapes while they are pretty when I see the elaborate ones I basically assume they are for show..playing with dishes and such, since there is no room for the food ! :)

Hope you kick this cold for good and I guess your stomach went into sugar shock since it had been so long since you had any ?

I really want a cookie now. And then a brownie. And then some of that cake. :)

Hi Jane,
Isn't it funny how we always manage to pull holidays for our families no matter how bad we feel. I'm sure that you deserve the rest and I hope you'll feel better soon.
I guess men just cannot live without their sports and news! LOL! I had to laugh when you said he went to bed at 6 and slept all the way through til morning....Mr. Sissie sleeps in front of the tv and then gets in bed and falls asleep at 7:30! We live such an exciting life.
I know what you mean about your little baby getting all upset with the workers there. My kitties get so upset when there are workers or strangers in the house that I feel like their little hearts are going to stop from fright.
One good thing is that it's Spring and that just naturally makes us feel better.
Glad you are back on your healthy eating plan but remember it never hurts to take a break now and then.

hugs
Sissie

Jane, I hope you get rid of that nasty old cold, soon. I hate having colds, but spring and summer ones seem to hang on be worse than any other time of year.
I wish I could give up sugar...I would not only feel better, I would probably drop a little weight, too.
Have a wonderful week...get better!

Your daffodils look great and I bet by now you feel much better, too! My husband can sleep like that once in a while too, and I always wonder how. I would be up all night if I took a "nap" that time of day!

Your daffs look beautiful, I agree they never seem like a good cutting flower, and I do love looking out the window and see these outside, clear sign summer is coming. Gosh being sick and having pounding going on all day must of been horrible! Your poor head! Isn't it amazing when you stop eating something how it makes you sick, then you know it's bad for you body. I'm glad you are feeling better, and hope it keeps getting better. Enjoyed touching base with you today. Talk to you soon!

You know what we Southerners say when things like this happen? "Bless you heart"! So, I'm glad you are feeling better! Your daffs are gorgeous! We are at the lake house for a few days. I'm having a garage sale here tomorrow. Had one a couple weeks ago at home! Trying my best to get rid of some stuff!

Those brownies sound delish!

Oh, my latest 'hobby'.....selling on EBay! Now, that's WORK! But fun too!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Well, it looks and sounds like you had a perfectly lovely Easter, Jane. I'm so glad you got over that awful crud. I hate to say it, but the older we get, the longer it takes to recuperate -- sorry, I know you are much younger than me, but still........! Oooh, that caramel brownie thing sounded delicious!

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. I think that was probably the cold that my son has had for 2 weeks now. I've avoided it, but he's been pretty miserable. Thanks again for visiting me over at Must Love Junk today!

Oh my....I am way behind. The last two weeks have been crazy busy, and we've been away on weekends again. We finally got home last night, and I "think" I will have some time to myself for a bit.
I'm glad you had a nice Easter with your family, Jane. Your cookies, and cakes look yummy. The brownies sound sinful.
Are you feeling better now?
There are green things starting to pop up out of the ground here. I can't believe you have full blown flowers!! The daffs are such happy flowers.
Your little toes look just like mine. My husband says they are midgie tootsie rolls. lol
I LOVE your plates!!! Are they new? I don't remember them. Maybe I should be on Aricept.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Hope you are feeling better ~ there is such a thing as overload and after going so long without sugar it must have been a shock to your body! We are in birthday mode with quite a few in April then hubby's is on Friday so I have baked many a cake and of course had to help eat them! Your daffodils look so pretty ~ I need to get more bulbs as I lost all mine a couple of years ago. Happy Sunday!

Didn't you know that moms and wives aren't allowed to be sick...we're the caretakers of everyone else. Sure hope you're on the mend.
Your daffodils are so beautiful! I think we're appreciating those first signs of spring more than ever after such a long winter.
I had to laugh about all the sugar. I'm like you, once I get started it's hard to stop and then I pay for it later.

Hi Janie! Oh, no! I'm so sorry you were sick and hope you're so much better now! That ole sugar! Too bad I love it so much - I just can't give it up! I'm not as strong as you. Your Easter sounds lovely and all of the food sounds and looks good. Too bad I'm not your neighbor as I would have taken those cookies off your tiny hands in an instant! Your daffs are so beautiful and I'm so glad spring is popping up. Now you know I'd love to have you as a Diva any time you wanna snap!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :) Oh, my hair is just pulled back. I'm still growing it out and I have some extra strands of bangs that just hit me in the eyes and I can't stand that so I'm pulling it back til they grow out too. I guess I wore my hair short for so long I'm having a hard time letting it hand down! :) If my hair only looked like yours. You know how I love your hair!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Sorry I'm a little late in responding to your blog post, so hopefully by now your cold is over and that you're feeling back to your usual self! I can only imagine that after 14 weeks of no sugar, that having some (or, a lot) would make you feel awful, too. Your daffodils sure are pretty. A definite sign of spring. xoxo

You and I are so much alike it's crazy Jane. Except the fact that you actually tossed the left-overs. No...I would have eaten them and then gone out and chased around with the dogs. So I guess that's where we differ. You have a lot more will power then I ever will. The other night I had made cookies and I am not going to say how many I ate before making myself sick, but it was more than any 'normal' person would have:)))

I'm sorry you haven't felt well, but happy to know you're feeling better now.
sending hugs...

My goodness - when things happen at your house they happen BIG!!!
I'm glad you've recovered from the bug and from the sugar (I had the same self-inflicted illness after Easter!) Isn't it nice to see all the spring flowers popping up?

Hoping you feel better today !
If there's any of those cookies left I'll take - oh let's see - a dozen should do.
Feel well enough to get to the post office to ship them?
I'm not on a program so I will NOT get sick :)
THanks !
