And I am like you in planting the little seeds and waiting patiently (not) everyday for them to sprout. We had some of your weather yesterday with tornadoes everywhere. My sister's small town got hit really bad but she is safe and sound. We are both craving some warmer weather so we can go DIG!!

You might want to rethink putting blueberry bushes at the lake house, where you can only get there on the weekends. My sister has huge bushes on her property & they have to covered with netting just as soon as the fruit sets or the birds will pick them clean. She doesn't put the nets on early, as the leaves will grow into them & make the difficult to remove later.

Also, blueberries ripen every single day. She has to go out EVERY day or so to harvest the ripe ones. It is an ongoing task once they start showing up. Soooo worth it, though!

Each of us sibs get Cool Whip containers full of fresh blueberries from her all summer long. Just so you know, you have to be there to take care of them.
I hope yours are as prolific as her's!!

Hugs,
RettRettabughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09974677657528087286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6702005723584006500.post-2869844869552205402011-04-16T23:12:44.261-05:002011-04-16T23:12:44.261-05:00Wish I could go to Target...but I'm to far awa...Wish I could go to Target...but I'm to far away, next trip to my hometown NY I will try it! Strawberries? We planted some this year too. I hope we get a few from them, but we have read that you usually don't get any until the next year. I am not a gardener, hubby does all of that. We already have potatoes up, but not ready to dig. He has several other things planted also, but won't plant the tomatoes and cucumbers until next week-end. That is what the "old folks" say to do.
