PAINTING SOME FURNITURE AND MORE SUMMER FUN!

The lake fireworks show is Friday night.  I think I've told you, everyone goes out on the lake in their boats and anchor and the fireworks are shot off from the island.  We used to have a pontoon boat in addition to the speedboat but it was just too much to take care of so we sold it a few years ago.  But when we had it we could get all of our guests out on the lake.  Now The Husband makes sure he gets the kids out and the rest of us sit on the shore.  As for myself, I sit on my upstairs balcony with 2 shaking basket case sort of pups.  Even the random firecrackers going off now scares the daylights out of Milo.  And another thing we have that is so fun, a live band plays on the shore of the sandbar and everyone anchors and gets into the knee high water to dance and float and play Frisbee.  My sons actually drive our guests over on the boat group by group to drop them off.  Oh, it's so much fun!

Well, that's what I did all weekend.  I was smack dab in the middle of the garden with no shade but definitely my sunscreen and I got a little color.  The Husband worked on cleaning his grill and worked even more on the beach (he is obsessed with having the PERFECT beach).  And Milo met a
few visiting dogs (not only do our neighbors bring their dogs, their friends bring their dogs so we always have a menagerie of hounds running around).  Milo promptly met a golden retriever,  "Edie" five minutes after we arrived Friday night and actually leaped through the creek to get to her.  It would have made for a great little romantic  video captured in slow motion with the Theme From Chariots of Fire playing. When I jogged over to drag his butt home, he wouldn't come back  via the creek.  I had to walk down the road 1/4 of a mile.  He did double duty on the lead line that night.

So we are back home and dealing with the rain...more thunderstorms early this evening.  I was able to pull some crabgrass before it started...my backyard garden looks like a jungle and I just don't want to deal with it until next week.

Well, I'm glad I squeezed in a post.  I still don't have internet at the lake and I may be going as early as Wednesday morning.  So I'm wishing all of you a wonderful and safe Independence Day.  Wave that flag proudly and celebrate!! :)

Joining Tweak It Tuesday at Brenda's blog, Cozy Little House.

XO,
Jane

Hello Jane,

Well, it is all go with you. We are exhausted just reading about it all.

How exciting the 4th July celebrations sound to be. We love the idea of being ferried by boat to the party, this surely adds to the amusement of it all. And, without doubt, the food and wine will be plentiful, so what is not to like? We only wish that we could be there.

Your table is transformed. You have chosen a very pretty colour and it looks very good indeed as you have it placed. A definite keeper as you would say.

The work in the garden will surely wait. For now, enjoy the moment!

Your fourth of July sounds like so much fun! For once we don't have a lot planned, but it's been a busy summer and I actually relish a day of quiet.

Nice catch up post, Jane! : ) I like the way the table looks painted. It has such a cute shape, too. It sounds like a great time for the 4th at the lake. Enjoy it! Happy 4th!

You're looking good girl! Love that striped skirt - everyone was wearing nautical stripes in the Baltic countries and Europe so you are in style!

Looks like life is busy now Summer is truly here - your 4th celebration will be fun, ours will be quiet but the 5th is Bob's b'day and perhaps we'll do more then. Enjoy each moment.

Came back to a jungle here and haven't tackled a thing outside as I have a wretched cold. Cruise was fabulous and will be posting more about it soon……having Internet problems.

Table looks really good - definitely keep it.
Hugs to you both - Mary X

Hugs from Montreal, ( well over 100 degrees - we're dying here - but I refuse to say that out loud after the winter we had LOL )

Hi Jane, LOVE the dress! You could wear it with a red jacket and be all decked out for the 4th!

The table looks great, I really like your color choice. I'm trying to muster up the energy to go out and work in the sun . . . I'm a shade girl!

Have a great 4th of July!

P.S. I saw one of those "no dumping" signs in someone's yard in Maine yesterday! LOL

I love your outfit, you look wonderful! And my favorite breed of dog is the German Shepherd, so that pic made me long for all the wonderful German Shepherds we've owned throughout the years. I also really like the new color you choose for both tables, much better than the gray! I hope you have a very Happy 4th of July!

You look so pretty, Jane! I've kind of decided I need to wear more dresses (got to buy them first). :)
The lake shots are beautiful and I'm so happy you are making all of those wonderful memories up north. Lake homes are wonderful, aren't they? My parents had one and we enjoyed the fellowship of the neighbors, boating, and skiing. And just sitting on the deck watching the world go by.
We have a little 4th of July trip planned too. Will blog about it later. Hugs, Beth

Oh Jane you look so god in that pretty dress. I need to get some as all I seem to wear are slacks or shorts anymore.
You really had a busy weekend with all the painting and gardening you did. So glad that you were able to finally paint your hubby's fav table.
Have a wonderful weekend at the Lake. My dogs do not like fireworks either. I have to give Waldo medicine, otherwise he shakes so badly. They have been setting them off here for the last three weeks. With all the soccer and graduation's going on they feel that they have to celebrate.
I will be glad then it's over as they set them off until wee hours of the morning and wake you up. But enough is a enough and I'm sure the 4th will be 100 times worse.
Happy 4th Jane.
Mary

Hey pretty lady! Love the dress with that sweater!

Your lake activities sound like such fun and I can tell you really enjoy your time there. Too bad summer doesn't last just a little bit longer...three or four months goes by so quickly. :(

You look great Jane and your sandals are super cute too btw. Love the table, keep it! We've never watched fireworks over the lake, we should, since we still have our pontoon, but we're heading off to the city for the 4th and celebrate with some friends. I'm sure you will all have fun despite all the 'work' you had t do to get ready. Enjoy and happy 4th!

Pretty dog and I do like the outfit. Very nautical.

I don't really have a busy weekend planned but I will have my annual Wimbledon breakfast party on Sunday. Looks like the 4th will be a washout anyway with downpours expected. Lots of plans need to be shifted here in Boston.

Enjoy your time at the lake!!!

I love the color of your flowers, Jane...beautiful!!
I know what you mean about going out on the lake when the other boaters have gone in for the afternoon. It's nice to have a quiet lake some times. Especially when it's a nice, sunny day.
I hope your holiday is filled with fun, and family.
