LIVING ROOM & BATHROOM CHANGES

I did a lot of work around the house over the past few weeks, things I had wanted to do but thought, "I'll get around to it.".  And as usual, it starts with one little change, like  a new valance for the bathroom window.  This is a very small bathroom with a tiny sink and vanity and I wanted some surface space.  A trip was made to Home Depot where they cut a long piece of pine in half for me and I found wood brackets that fit.  I painted everything with the same paint used for my living room.  DIL, Mary Clare and I hung them last week, okay MC did 99% of the work, I just stared in awe at how good she was with a power drill!

Abigail is leaving for Florida with a big group of kids on Saturday.  They are renting a house on the beach for a week of fun in the sun.  Oh, I'm envious!  It's going to be a little lonely without her.  She finished classes last week.  I have flowers to plant...oh, yes, the front yard was seeded, you can see me out there every morning in my jammies dragging the sprinkler around in the mud.  Grrrrrr....I'm just going to plant a few pots for the front porch and steps, and backyard patio, I have enough watering to do.  And then I'll do the same thing over again at the lakehouse.  Hopefully we will get up there soon, plans this weekend and we have to round up my sons and some of their hunky...I mean strong friends to help with setting out the patio furniture, cleaning the boats, getting out the wave runners and kayaks...ugh, so much to do!  The Husband has been totally dreaming and preparing for his big summer of fishing.  He has driven into Indiana several times to the Bass ProShop for all sorts of crazy fishing gear.  Son Jeff remarked to him the other day, "For someone who rarely catches a fish, you sure do have a lot of stuff"!  Too funny!

I'll see all of you later in the week!

I'm joining Sherry at No Minimalist Here for her Open House Party

XO,
Jane

Everything just looks gorgeous! Isn't HomeGoods just the best! I am really glad we don't have one close, but when I am in Florida (or even St. Louis) I usually stock up on all sorts of things I don't need. Last month I actually left with almost nothing...I seem to be in more of a clothing mood than a house mood right now.

I'm glad you finally can relax and just "be" for a little while. We are just kicking into gear for our upcoming. The photographer was booked today, the florist while we were in Florida in April. The "save the date" cards have been ordered. Here we go...

Hi Jane, I love the bathroom and living room makeover. You had a beautiful bride and all the attendants were absolutely stunning. I love the picture of you and dad. You made an awesome couple. You do get exhausted, but the memories and the pictures to come make it all worth while. I imagine the house will be a little lonesome at first. I love your grand dog. He is so cute. We were in the 90's yesterday and the 80's today. I set outside for a while after I got home to unwind. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from your Missouri Friend.

Your living room looks really nice, Jane. Large wall spaces are so hard to decorate and you did a great job.
Your bathroom looks really pretty too ~ shelves are nice because you can change your accessories and have a new look very easily. Have a great day!

What a great idea to make shelves for your bathroom. They look great. I'm always in awe of girls that use power tools too. I'm scared of them! I'm in love with your grand-dog, Rusty! I have that same breed and it sounds like he's doing what he's supposed to. They play hard and sleep hard! Wish I could see him in person. I might have to steal him though. LOL!

Hi Jane, I have now caught up on your posts. I have been in that yard for far too long. Emily was gorgeous. And so were you-that hair! The shelf looks great. You and MC did great work. I think gallery walls are a bit of a dilemma to configure too. In regards to our mutual rabbit problem there is a remedy. We could plant marigolds around the garden and that keeps rabbits away. My neighbors do this around their veggies and no rabbits-They are all here with me:} Olive

I love the iron hooks! I bet they come in handy all the time. I think you did a great job on everything! Love the pic of your "granddog." So sweet!! We just got our kayaks out recently too. The boys take them out all the time, but I've never been. I should probably try it out at least once. :)

Isn't it nice to get things hung and done! I am still waiting for my brackets as my FIL is making them ~ I start vacation tomorrow so I am hoping he gets them done so I can get the shelves hung!

Hi Jane Sweetie...
Oh what a beautiful share. Lovee the shelves and that little antique hook is just simply the element of surprise in the room. I love it.

Love that grand dog, as you know I too have a Boston Terrier. He is 13years old and at the end of his journey soon. He has been the best little thing. They are so smart, funny and entertaining. They will run till they drop. Can't wait to watch him grow through your blog.

Loved seeing the pics of the wedding rehearsal, the trolley and the gals. So perfect sweet friend. Thank you for sharing.

Was thrilled to see you pop by. I hope to keep blogging again, at least once a week anyway.

Many hugs and so much love, Sherry

Hubby hung two floating shelves and two open boxes in my craft room and then threatened that if I ever bought another one, he'd take his tools and leave! Lol! He has tons of patience so I was surprised that these were so vexing to him. Needless to say, if I redecorate in there, it will be around those shelves. :)

When you have a small room, a long wall sounds like a dream...until you try to arrange it. I'll have to write about our family room wall one day. Oy! (shaking head)
