TABLE REDO, NEW CHAIRS & A FRUSTRATING WEEKEND!

Back to last Thursday, Emily and I went to the bridal shop for yet another fitting.  Sorry I can't reveal much more of the dress but you know how that goes.  If the process of lacing the dress up looks time consuming, you should see how the bustle is done!  Thank goodness she has a Maid Of Honor to do that!  The gown looks gorgeous, but she has to have more hemmed.  My dress...the neckline and bust is too big and I have to go back with the bra I'm going to wear as well as the shoes so it can be hemmed.  I suppose I should also bring along the clutch I'll carry, I'm sure they will find a way to alter that, too.  I despise dressing rooms.  The mirrors confirmed my suspicion that I have no waist to speak of.  And the dress looks more purple than plum.  Sheet.  We did hit Homegoods afterward, so the day wasn't lost.

Now this is the part where it gets ugly.  We laid the area rug down that I ordered online from L.L. Bean.  It was too small.  It's a 5 X 8 and I needed an 8 X 10.  The Husband thought it was fine but I was mumbling some very bad words.  I  wrapped it back up with bubble wrap and a ton of electrical tape and ran to the post office with it.  Just in time for it to close.  So I carted it back home and it's sitting here like a big mummy.  The Husband wants to wait until we get our credit back before we order the new size.  Grrrrrr...

Moving on the the floating wall ledges I found at Homegoods.  A no go.  The hardware was crazy, even after a trip to Home Depot.  We tried for 2 solid hours and all we did was scratch the new paint on the wall.  Another no go.  And then I spent most of Saturday evening looking at art online until I thought I'd go blind.  I finally found 2 framed prints that I like a lot.  Sigh...something went right.  Oh, I digress.  I hung my newly cleaned curtains back on the windows and they are hanging sort of funky.  I'm just ready to throw in the towel.

So, I guess it's back to cleaning closets.  I hope to have something more cheerful to post about later in the week.  :)

XO,
Jane

Sometimes it seems as though nothing goes right! I hate when that happens, but rest assured it will all come together perfectly eventually.
You did a super job on the end table, it looks so much better.
Glad to hear the girls had a blast! Lucky girls!

Hi Jane, Glad you had a good weekend with just one bad spot. It does seem like when it rains it pours and everything goes wrong. Nothing to do but sleep on it. Things will work out fine in the end though. :P
Sounds like the girls had a blast. xoxo

You are complaining you have no waist and this weekend i was shopping for a dress for an aniversary party we are going to in a few weeks, I am all butt, My waist is 12 inches smaller than my behind! The poor seamstress , I felt sorry for her, I'm deformed! with too much junk in my trunk!!! That means if I get something to fit my gig legs and behind I have all this lose fabric around my waist, my grand son said I'm built like Jessica Rabbitt in the Dick Tracy movie! So I suppose none of us are happy with our shapes!

Hi Jane,
Sounds like you have way too much going on. I think you need to just relax and deal with the decorating at a slower pace. I'm sure your room will come together evenutally and it will be perfect.

Right now, you've got the wedding on your mind. I can't wait to see your dress and the brides. I love the lace up back.

Take a deep breath, have a glass of wine and keep calm and carry on.

I guess it was just one of those days!
I love the table and I'm glad you didn't distress it - it is beautiful the way you've painted it. I think there's just a little too much 'shabby' in the shabby chic going around!
Seeing the back of your daughter's gown took me right back to my daughter's big day last May and how I was all of a sudden all thumbs with the dress! The little flower girls ended up doing the lacing because they has such tiny fingers.

Your painted table looks great! Glad your hubby doesn't mind it.
Your room is all going to come together soon and look wonderful, just hang in there!
Such a pretty detail on your daughters dress!

I want to comment on everything, but let's see how good my memory is (ha!)...Emily's dress is gorgeous! And I can't believe how much she looks like you in the photo of the 4 girls...never realized it before. Abby must look like Al. Sounds like they had a great time at the lake house, lol! Love your new chair & you did a great job on that table. I totally feel your frustration on the home things not working out - that's how it usually goes for me! Take a deep breath, smile...and be glad your basement isn't flooded. ;-)

Wow, I'm exhausted! You are one busy woman. Deep breath, definitely restock the coffee and try not to stress too much, it will come together. I took rugs back and forth to the store for 2 weeks until I was satisfied. It takes me forever to make decisions on stuff I have to look at everyday. Btw, I love the table redo. Perfect!

Oh Jane, hang in there - trust me we ALL have days like that. Weeks even.

It's what I call Design Funk.

Ignore it a while till you get your groove/energy/stamina/desire to go back and finish. Nice thing about decorating is it isn't a race...the process is the good part. Once it's done, well, it's done.

Of course with weddings comes stress that the house has to be just so perfect, so I feel your pain and hope the Design Funk passes for you quickly.

As for cleaning closets, holy moley I sooooooooooo gotta do that. Bleck.

I am loving what little bit of the dress you were allowed to share. She's going to be SO beautiful!

Hugs.

It sounds like you had a very busy weekend. I know what you mean about not having Dunkin Donuts coffee. I can't function and I am very grouchy. You have a beautiful bride and I am loving the preview of the dress. Also, wanted to say your table turned out great I love the color and new hardware. :)

Looks like you are getting a lot done and the girls had a lot of fun. I can't wait to see the whole gown and yours too. You did a great job on the table. It looks really pretty. Looks like Al is just like John. He does not like painted furniture but after he sees what I do, he always likes it and asks where I learned to do that, lol...Christine

Jane, I noticed your new design and love it too! It is so clean and sophisticated.

All the partying sounds fun. Yes, it is great to be spending time on the fun wedding plans. I will have to sneak a few peeks in. She loved the photo of her ring. I may have to print that off for her.

The glasses for the Bachelorette party sound really fun. I will have to tell the bride's maids about that!

Love the new table. It is perfect. Don't you love it when you have those finds!

Hi JaNE, BOY can I relate! You sound busy enough without troubles coming your way...so sorry about that. Take a deep breath, drink your soda...and keep moving forward. And remember Junior High? you could always stuff the bra part of the dress with tissue paper...worked in 7th grade right? Bwahahaha...ok ok just kidding. This is real life...a special event...no wardrobe malfunctions! Can't wait to see you in your spectacular dress! You are beautiful already so it will just be the cherry on top.
Blessings, and give yourself a hug from me!

Hi Jane, The girls are lovely and sounds like they had a great time. Her dress looks beautiful! What a privilege for you to be a part of the pre-wedding fun. When my daughter married, she was living 1000 miles away and she basically did all the planning herself, so I missed out. I must say she did a wonderful job, though, and they had a beautiful destination wedding in Cozumel, overlooking the beach. I can't wait to see all the wedding pics! Have a great weekend, NOT a frustrating one!
Hugs and blessings, Beth

Sounds like you've been very productive. Cleaning cabinets and distressing furniture.

O, Janie...I have days like that, too. Sometimes, I just go back to bed, watch a movie on tv, drink tea, eat scones and sleep. Usually, when I get back up, things run a little more smoothly. Give it a try sometime. Course, I don't have kids to pick up at school or worry about making dinner for...one small perk of growing older, I guess. :))

Lynne said...

Jane! I absolutely LOVE your new chairs! The table is perfect! You did a wonderful job! It is such a versatile piece! Bravo!

Your life is as detailed as that beautiful dress!

It's all coming together so nicely!

The one bit of advise I gave Chrislyn before her wedding was to relax, not to expect perfection, a little detail may be missed...only you will notice...and when it's time for Dad to walk you down the aisle...walk slow and feel the love and magic of the day!

Your home is looking lovely to me!

I can't wait to see the image of beautiful Emily with her Dad (The Husband)...and YOU in that "I know you will be gorgeous in purple" dress!

The pre-cleaned Lakehouse is waiting! Can you believe that this will be my third year travelling will you up to the Lakehouse?
I wish you a less frustration on this weekend.
