A QUICK SHOWER & A HAIRDO

I'm happy to announce that I found my dress for the wedding.  Yes, now you won't have to hear me lamenting on and on in future posts about not being able to find a "mother of the bride" dress. I went with Emily for her final fitting at the bridal shop last week and while perusing the gowns, I fell in love with three.  I really loved them all equally but the first two were not available for some reason.  So I picked out a silky plum sort of wrap around full length dress with 3/4 inch sleeves and some rusching (sp?) here and there.  Unfortunately, the dresses there were all in sizes 10 and 12, so I couldn't try it on.  Don't get me going about all these dresses on display being in a size fit for a Barbie doll.  I couldn't fit one leg in if I tried.  So I was measured and the dress should be in in about a week.  Oh yeah, it has a little silver brooch type piece at the side of the waist so I'm going to be on the hunt for some silver sparkly shoes and a clutch.  Can you say relieved?

Seems like we are all on board for Emily' shower next Saturday; cupcakes and flowers ordered and just one simple little project to do some time this week.  The poor girl is just spread so thin...between working a full time job, getting ready to close on their new house, the shower and the bachelorette party (a big vineyard tour/wine tasting event in Michigan)I just don't know how she keeps her head on straight.

Well, that's all I have for today.  Did you have your corned beef and cabbage yesterday?  Ours turned out great.  Corned beef and turkey should be something we have more often during the year...just pop it in the oven and take a 4 hour nap.  Oops, did I just give away what I did yesterday?!

Have a great week, Everybody!

Katie's wedding and goings on sound like a blast. My favorite place in the world is Co. Cork Ireland. What a dream for her to be married there. My husband and I renewed our vows there once. I hope to get over there again this year. I'm sure your dress will be beautiful. I hope you post your pics. Blessings!

I am going to have corned beef next year! And Irish soda bread! I will get a normal life back in the near future! Until then - I will just watch and read all about YOURS!!!

Your hair is gorgeous! WOW! You will definitely be turning plenty of heads at the wedding. Wish I could pull off long hair, but it just doesn't suit me well being that I'm only 4'11". Your dress sounds so pretty! What a wonderful, bittersweet time!

Knitty said...

Congratulations on finding your dress! Your hair looks great like that.

Our corned beef dinner was even easier than yours. Hubby doesn't care for traditional hot corned beef and cabbage but likes a sandwich offered at our favorite deli. The deli is closed on Sundays so I worked hard (wink) at making corned beef, Swiss, Thousand Island dressing and cole slaw on rye sandwiches.

your hair turned out lovely!!!!!
Wish I had a golden mane. Oh, and the deserts..... I am with you, what you got, you got! It all looked scrumptious.
Boy, you must be really happy to have found a gown. I remember the looking and looking, and the fear of not finding the right thing.
Have fun planning. It will be over too soon, which is a good and a bad thing....
Hugs, Evi

We have a family wedding in a couple of months too. I admire people who keep it simple. Young folks are so busy these days and there can be so much pressure! Forget about the money question. Wow! I'm afraid I'm being negative! Sorry! But how wonderful to have a wedding in Ireland! And I love your hair!

Susan EvelynAndRose said...

How fun Jane! Sounds like a lovely shower and WOW - you're hair! I absolutely love those golden curls, lucky girl. You will look fabulous at Emily's wedding - the dress sounds so pretty, too. :)

Lots of showers going on right now. The mini cupcakes look yummy. And I really like sangria -- depends on the wine you use on how sweet it is. I much prefer it to be dry as I don't like sweet wines. Your hair looks lovely. Congrats on finding a dress. One less thing to worry about. Send me on a wine tasting/tour and I would forget about everything else. That's all I would really need to make me happy. ha! Best wishes, Tammy

Jane, Your hair is just beautiful! It looks so thick and healthy. I'm blonde too, courtesy of highlights, and over the last two haircuts I lost 7 or 8 inches...it's shoulder length now...I'm kind of missing it but it will grow back. Katie's wedding location sounds great! Glad you found your dress for Emily's wedding. You all have been very busy indeed!

We had an uncle that ALWAYS ate his dessert first...said he was afraid he'd get too full and couldn't have room for it. hahhaaa...he was sooo my kind of man.

Your hair is gorgeous! I didn't realize it was that long! Mine is short...has been for years. I kept trying to grow it back, but it is so thick that it just looked terrible when it hit below my ears..like the Dutch Boy on the paint can. My hairdresser finally said that she refused to let me try again. When mine was long (and very blonde) in high school and college, I would put a ponytail on top of my head and stick in electric rollers to get that all over curled look.

beautiful hair...I think that would be gorgeous for her wedding!
