SPRING DECORATIONS

Good morning everyone! It's a rainy gloomy morning in Chicago but I am feeling happy for some reason. I got up and had coffee with The Husband and decided to put together a post of some of my spring decorations. On the down side, I wanted to share more of my daffodils and tulips but right now they aren't looking too well. I don't know if it is because we had such a mild winter or if they bloomed too soon. They look stunted and the tulips are sparse. After this rain I will have another look and see if the situation has improved. What a bummer.
Emily and I made a trip to Pier 1 on Monday. It was pretty hysterical because she was at one end of the store and I was at the other and we would meet in the middle at the counter and load our finds up. With her designer eye, she can buy something knowing exactly where it will go and how it will look and I tend to just buy what I fall in love with! She found this little birdhouse with a glass door knob and knew that it would look perfect on a closet door that you can see from the living room. I have a necklace hanging off the knob that I won in a giveaway from Debby at Cozy Blanket. It's a key on a chain and it looks great here when I'm not wearing it. Thanks, Debby!
I have a small bunny collection and I thought I'd show you a few. This guy I've had for a few years. He's really darling.
And this one is my favorite. You have to love that little face!
This little pair came from Terry's Village. They have some really cute holiday things. I love their catalog. These guys sit on my island.
I found this tray at Pier 1. It goes so well in my living room. I'd show you my whole mantel but I am still working on it. I just can't get it right. I want to paint the wall a cream color...does anyone have a paint color that they are in love with? I am so tired of this mossy green and it really isn't a good backdrop for my pieces.
Emily gravitates toward the whimsical and found these textured bunnies.
This guy is riding in his own little Carrotmobile!
The word around Blogland was that Fifi O'Neill has a new cookbook. I went to Amazon and found it and I love it. I have been thumbing through it and marking pages that have recipes I want to try. There are some bloggers in here that you may have heard of, too. What a great book, I recommend it. I also just finished the book, Signs Of Life {It's on my sidebar} and I laughed and cried all the way through it. It's about a young woman who is widowed when she is five months pregnant with their first child. It sounds like a downer but it really is about her first year grieving and coming to grips with her loss. It's a memoir, and I just fell in love with the author. You will, too.

Well, on the homefront, temperatures fluctuated all week between 40 and 70 degrees. Crazy weather. It was sunny though and I got out of the house everyday, even if it was just a short trip to the grocery store or to walk around the backyard lamenting about my poor flowers. I would love to make a trip up to the lake but The Husband has been bringing paperwork home every weekend. I did find out that my sweet neighbor, Susie, has been watering my plants so I can stop having this vision of walking in to find dead ferns all over the place. Hopefully we will get there soon.

I found a great dessert recipe that I am going to make and take pictures of for you next time and I also have a tablescape going on at the table in the family room. It is still being tweaked and the lighting is so bad today, I didn't want to take pictures. I will have that next time, too. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for great weather wherever you are! :-)

Hi Jane,
Hope your weather gets better. It's been so nice here. Love your tray! I'm going to go to Pier One and check that out. I need some retail therapy... The chubby bunny cracks me up. Have a great weekend.

Love the knob for the necklace. Perfect.
My daffodils were nice for about three days. I went to cut them and bring them in as there was a frost warning for the night. They were laying on the ground and done for. I thought they would bounce back up like always and they didn't. I think that they were just too early. Sad.
But we have had good weather along with the a little bit of the bad, so I won't complain.
Have a good week-end. I am looking forward to a germ free week-end.

We've got another beautiful day here, Jane, although we did have some rain this morning and I thought it was going to last all day. I hope it will stay nice; my son arrives tomorrow and will be here until Wednesday. I love your bunnies; I got a couple at Hobby Lobby at 40% off already. I'm hoping to pick up a few more on clearance. I collect bunnies anyway, so I am sure I will find a home for them.

Cute Spring things, Jane. I am sorry that you can't get up to the lakehouse but at least someone is looking out for your plants.

I am out of the loop, I guess...I have not seen that cookbook yet. I am trying NOT to buy any more cookbooks--and am to the point where I want to get rid of some. Sad...sad...sad!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Jane! xo Diana

Hi, Jane!
You have a nice little bunny collection. I had a little coffee for some friends this week, so I did some more spring decorating myself. It is fun, isn't it? Sorry your flowers have been disappointing to you. My tulips-pink and white-were just opening up today when we had a hail storm. I hope they weren't ruined. Have a great weekend, friend!

Hey there miss Blondie girl, how are you doing? Your post looks like you have some sweet bunnies to bond with, and I wanted you to know I have mossy green on my walls and I'm a bit tired of it too. I need something different but not sure what to go to. I love Easter decorations too. Very sweet in anticipation for spring! Yay...hopefully warm weather will stay!
Blessings,
Debbie

Your bunnies are so sweet and the tray from Pier 1 is so pretty!

I'm worried about the crazy weather doing damage to the flowers here too. Temps in the
80s one week, everything started budding up, then down into the
30s the next, can't be a good thing.

Have a great weekend!

Oh, Jane, your bunnies are totally adorable! The white one does have such a happy look on his/her face. I like the bird house too. The glass knobs are beautiful.

Well, our weather has been extremely warm for this time of year and more humid the past couple of days than is tolerable ~ more like June. We're supposed to be around 90' tomorrow and I think we were very close today. Yuck! Next week, 70's again and that's great.

Have fun with all your treasures and thanks for the book recommendations. I love cookbooks and can read them like novels.

Such adorable bunnies, Janie! I love them and your birdhouse and other goodies! I have missed you SO much, and I scrolled back through your blog a bit and saw some wondrous things... the new sofas (fabulous new look... where did you find them???) and the cute table numbers for Emily's wedding. Just lots of fun things, and those napkin rings from WS. Soooo cute! You and Miss E have been busy, busy girls!

I'm on Mr. Magpie's computer (laptop) and am out rushing around as fast as I can to visit my friends who left comments so I can give him this computer back. This is awful not having my own computer, but hopefully that will change in the not too distant future.

Love you and miss you much...

That must have been a fun trip to Pier One, Jane. I'll have to head on over there later today. I don't have a single Easter decoration out yet - can you believe that!? I'll have to get busy tonight.

Hi Jane, Every year I say I don't need a thing but who can resist buying a cute bunny or two? Love all yours! Although the mild winter and early Spring was nice I think it played havoc with the plants. My dogwood trees hardly have any blooms this year...just all green leaves and I have roses blooming. I usually am lucky if I get a rose by Mother's Day. I haven't planted my marigold seeds yet but will real soon. I hope yours does well. They should come up with a sign on it that says "from Lynn in Va."......just kiddin'

That door knob has me ... darling! Your bun-bun's are too cute! Our weather has been SOOOO warm this winter everything came in a month early ... the daffodils are long gone, the tulips are profuse ... the frost bit the early blooming rhodies horribly ... sniff!, petals on the ground.
We mowed twice this past week ... a first in 40 years ...

Have a beautiful & blessed Easter ~

This weather has been goofy for the plants. The tulip leaves are all curly. I hope we get flowers this year.
Boats are showing up slowly, here at the lake. Ours will be in soon.
Have a great week!
