SHOES

Warning...this post has very few pictures and probably a lot less content. So pour a glass of your favorite beverage and be prepared to finish reading in about 2 minutes. I'm posting another picture of my dress for the wedding so you can compare it with the shoes I found.
What do you think? I ordered them from Zappos...you can't beat the next day delivery. They are Nine West and I think they match perfectly. They are a patent leather peep toe {as you can surely see} and they are a bit tight. I think that is better than having them fall off your feet with every step. So, I have been wearing them a half hour everyday to stretch them out and get used to them. They go well with shorts and sweat pants, even my PJ's. And with the 2 1/2 inch heels, I am going to feel so grown up being almost 5'5 feet tall.
It's hard to believe that one week from today 400 people will be celebrating the marriage of Kevin and Mary Clare. The reception will be held under tents filled with the soft lights of candles and the smell of wildflowers. It is going to be magical...unless I get blisters and have to go barefoot. There is noting more uncouth than the Mother Of The Groom going barefoot and doesn't make for pretty pictures either. I'll carry a few bandaids with me in case.

Next week is sort of the lull before the storm. I have to go out and look for some sparkly sort of pins for my Adele hairdo. People are starting to say that I am going to the wedding as Adele, as if it were a costume party. I love Adele...maybe I will start to belt out one of her tunes after a few glasses of champagne. Well, I don't drink champagne, but I've been know to belt out tunes impromptu anyway.

I will see you again next week if anything changes on the wedding front. :-)

They are perfect, Jane, as is your dress! I have to tell you that once the wedding was over and the dancing began, this mother of the bride took off her very pretty but painfully tight shoes and had a wonderful time! lol I know it will be a perfect wedding, too! Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie

Great choice Jane! Love those shoes. Good idea "breaking them in". I love the open toe.

It is difficult for me to wear any type of closed shoes, these days, but I am sure these would work for me.:-)

You are going to look fabulous. Can't wait to see photos!

You are going to look so lovely, Jane! I hate buying new shoes myself and always have to go and try them on. It is very rare that I luck out with an online order {although I did get a great pair of comfortable wedges from Old Navy online this year}.

Oh, Jane....you are going to look BEAUTIFUL!! I love the shoes (and Zappos). Thanks for sharing a peek with us. Enjoy this next week -- I am sure it will be a whirlwind. I'll look forward to all the photos when you have time and breath to get them posted.

So very pretty! Smart to break in those shoes...have you tried that stuff you rub on your feet to prevent blisters? Band Aid Friction Block...its the best! It looks like a mini deodorant...they sell it in the bandaid section :)
Enjoy every minute! Laurel

The outfit is lovely. Very Jackie O'!
I have a few tips from my wedding makeup artist days! I used to attend the wedding to keep the bride and her party in their "best shape" all day!
Get your feet wet, better yet, wear wet stockings when you break in your shoes. The moisture helps them to stretch! Don't wet the shoes, though! They may crackle.
On the day of the wedding make sure there is a kit containing a small spray bottle of water with a few drops of peppermint essential oil for sore feet! If you have no essential oil, mix 1/2 and 1/2 water and rubbing alcohol. Very soothing!
SuperGlue is essential for everything from broken heels to torn hems, broken earrings..it can even be used in lieu of band-aids. (It's cyanoacrylate, the same thing they use in hospitals after surgery!)
As a runner, I put Superglue on my heel and let it dry before I run, that way, blisters cannot form!
Safety pins, tissue, facial blotting papers (it's better to have these and powder on hand for shiny noses in wedding photos than having to pay for touch ups from the photographer after the proofs are viewed!
Altoids or other breath mints to help moisturize the mouth after all that smiling!

Hope this helps!

Janie... Your shoes and bag are a perfect choice.
The funniest thing...on Chrislyn's wedding day, my feet did not hurt in the shoes that I chose to wear. I put them on 4 months later and they killed my feet! I always say that it must have been the magic of the day.
I can just hear you singing when you dance with Kevin.
I am so excited for you!

You are going to look beautiful in that dress and the shoes. Such pretty colors. Take along a pair of comfy shoes to change into at the reception. Don't ruin the fun in the shoes if they aren't comfortable. Can't wait to hear all about the wedding. You seem so calm about it all. Good for you.

Oh go ahead Blondie....have a glass of champagne...I am. :) Love the shoes, .... very classy and elegant. I bought a cute pair of shoes for our wedding party and took them back yesterday. I liked them okay but not like "wowzer". I spent so little on my outfit that I am thinking I can blow a ton on the shoes if I can find what I am looking for. :) You are going to look beautiful for your wedding.

Perfection on the shoe purchase Jane. You will be stunning and only one more week to go!

I think they look perfect. Smart about working the shoes in, nothing worse than sore feet at a wedding. I definately think you should sing, memories are to be made.

Hi Jane~ Your shoes are darling!! Do you remember those sparkly little numbers I bought for the Gordon Ramsay event at the party? They were actually probably in the top 2 of the most comfortable heels I have worn! I would have never guessed my feet could have lasted hours without any problems!!
Your outfit and shoes are wonderful ~ can't wait to hear all about the wedding!! :)

I love the shoes. You will look stunning. Best of luck for a smooth ceremony and a fantastic celebration afterward.

I am SOOO glad you found shoes. Let me give you a little tip! Take another pair of really comfortable shoes (that match) for late in the evening. I have done this at my last 3 kids' weddings and was so glad I did. No one will even notice by that time anyway.

I am so excited FOR you! xo Diana

ps...you had me fooled- I thought you were taller- taller than me..and I am 5'8"...lol

Melanie said...

I love these shoes! I have found that Nine West run a bit narrow, too. If you wear them around the house every day for awhile like you've been doing, they'll probably be fine for the wedding. And for what it's worth, I've seen ladies at weddings take off their high heels so they can dance in comfort!

Love the shoes! I admit is slipped mine off at my son's wedding. I am not used to wearing heels, and they were killing me! It poured rain that day and they got ruined, so they got thrown away.
Have a wonderful time, it will go by in a flash!

The shoes are perfect! Why don't you get a pair of those little folding slipper flats for later in the reception. My feet hurt any time I'm in heels, so I would have to either kick them off or slip into flats after the pictures!

I am sure it will all be perfect. I can't wait to see the pictures. Could you please get a video when you burst into song...that one would be fun to watch!!
