FLOWERS EVERYWHERE AND A POTTERY BARN GIVEAWAY!

I want to start this post by telling all of you that I hit my 300th post and I want to celebrate. So...I am giving away a gift card to Pottery Barn for $50.00. All you have to do is be a follower of my blog and leave a comment. Simple!

On to the good stuff. I made it to our nursery on Sunday and bought some beautiful flowers and ferns for the garden. I planted pots most of the day. Every year I'm drawn to a certain color scheme and this year it was salmon pink and white. I think they go well with the color of the house.
As I worked straight into the dinner hour, I decided it was Happy Hour. How refreshing is a glass of Pinot Grigio while you hum away when you work?
This is The Husband's little rock garden. I can't remember the name of the plant he used in it but soon it will be overflowing
We had 4 yards of sand delivered. Most of it will be shoveled into the water to add to the sandy bottom and the rest will replenish the beach. It is really hard work and The Husband enjoys it. ;-D
The wave runners were brought out of the garage finally and we are ready to get out on to the lake. The work keeps slowing us down though.
Milo casually observes all that is going on around him.
I hung salmon colored petunias on the front porch. The wisteria is growing wild but I haven't got any blooms yet. It's still too young, I guess. Soon it will grow straight up to the balcony and I doubt I will be able to hang baskets. Pots on the steps will be good.
Over the weekend, Emily worked on more details for the wedding. These jars were made with chalkboard paint and a chalk marker.
I think they turned out darling.

So that was my weekend. Busy as usual. I'm planting flowers here today {if the rain lets up} and then we have another shower to go to on Friday night. I think they are so much fun. Then it is back up to the lake, hopefully to relax.

Thanks for following along and good luck in the giveaway. Spread the word on your blog if you'd like . I will pick a winner in about a week or so. Have a great day! :-)

Hi Janie, congratulations on 300 beautiful posts! Please enter me in your generous giveaway... I would love to win that!... your hubby's rock garden is so pretty... that looks like Cincquefoil to me... and I love your pots of salmon colored petunias hanging on your porch... Little Milo is so cute, Tessy thinks he is related to her... enjoy your week, your weather looks beautiful. Oh yes, of course I am a faithful follower!... xoxo Julie Marie

Sounds like you had a busy weekend- I LOVE those little jars...great table numbering idea! I suppose they will be filled with flowers or something?

The salmon colored flowers are wonderful with the color of your place. Perfect. I don't even have my baskets planted yet this year...is that awful, or what?

Milo is comical- I'll bet he is the "star" in your house!

I will do a post about your giveaway on my blog-maybe tomorrow. Don't sign me up though...I have been the recipient of way too many things lately- and the guilt gets me, you know?;>)

Have a great day! xo Diana

Those salmon tones are soo lovely in flowers. Congratulations on your 300 posts! I have been a long-time follower..

Well, you know I'm a follower, Jane, and my comment is that I wish I could plant impatients! My property is too sunny and unless I water every single day, they shrivel up. I do better with petunias and I tried lantana last year {which just took off even in the humidity!}.

Lori E said...

300 ... good job. Who knew we had so much to say when we all started our blogs. Now you can't shut us...I mean me...up.
The color of the flowers is perfect. Make sure you are not kind to your wisteria or it won't bloom. They like things tough. Some people even prune the roots to get blooms to come out. Kind of drastic in my opinion especially since yours is still young.

Crystal Rose Cottage said...

I love the color combination of salmon and white! I almost always every season have to have it in my garden color scheme. Alot of pink and I never buy red....if there is anything red like.. it still has pink or blue undertones. Your lake cottage is darling! I love the hanging pots on your front porch! Have fun at the showers!~Hugs, Patti

Great giveaway Jane but i cannot enter since there is no Pottery Barn around here!!
Your cottage is so pretty! I don't want to burst your bubble but if wisteria doesn't bloom the first year then that means it will be 7yrs before it blooms! I planted one at my old house. It covered the porch beautifully but never , ever bloomed. Well the seventh year of having it was the summer we moved. That summer my neighbour called me at my new house and said my wisteria was in full bloom!!! lol !!! I was told by a professional at a nursery tnat they can take 7yrs to bloom and he was right!!

I love your posts! And watching the wedding details unfolding, too. My daughter is 19 right now with 5 more years of college in front of her -- but I've been taking notes from your blog! :)

I LIKE the way you garden!! Glass of Pinot Grigio works for me! Maybe my flowers will grow better if I start doing that. I think it's worth a try.

Congratulations on 300 posts! Wow!

Well dear friend, your lake house is really looking awesome! I had a place on lake Corpus Christi for 20 yrs. We had to Keep up with seawalls and piers...so I certainly do understand the work that is involved. But it's sooo worth it! There is nothing like a great lake-side view! Ya'll have a great visit with Cindy and Dan this weekend! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Love ya,
Chari

Hi,
Just found your blog. Your porch looks so wonderfully inviting. Just a tip about Wisteria. If it doesn't bloom after you've had it 5 years; give in a good jab at the roots with a shovel. Sometimes it just needs a little shock to get it motivated. This really does work. I love PB and would love to be included in your give-away. I too am looking forward to doing a give-away. Mine will be for my first 100 followers. I am now following you.

Your selection of color for the baskets is perfect against the backdrop of your house. And, the numbered jars for the tables are really a fantastic idea.
