THIS IS ME

I've been enjoying shopping for my upcoming vacation. Any excuse to shop is okay with me. I mentioned that I bought a few dresses, so today I was hanging them, deciding if I should whip out the old iron and thought I would share a few with you. These were a great bargain at Old Navy. I also bought 2 skirts. Don't you find them more comfy than shorts?

Last night I tried my best to stay up for the royal wedding and made it until 4 a.m. The highlight of my evening was seeing David Beckham arrive and shopping online. I bought some capris and a few T shirts and sweaters. When I got up this morning {and watched videos of the wedding and cried a bit}, I did a little more shopping for bra's and undies. Can I say that online? I am just so excited about this trip I can't keep my mind straight. We haven't been anywhere since New Orleans lasts summer.
This is me. I mentioned before that I was going to have my hair straightened with a keratin treatment. I had it done yesterday {it was painless], and I am loving it. The product is actually still in my hair...I can't wash it for 2 days. And I can't put so much as a bobby pin in it or it will leave a crimp. Now, this treatment is not the same as the Brazilian blowout, as some of you have asked. It is supposedly better and lasts up to 3 months. Then I am back to the Shirley Temple look. Some have asked why I would want to change. I guess we want what we don't have. And this is going to shave a lot of my getting ready time everyday. That really is what it is all about for me.
These are the products I have to use. Did you know that clarifying shampoo gets rid of all the build up of shampoo, conditioner, hairspray and pollution, and leaves your hair like new? News to me. I usually buy what is on sale.

Have I told you that I am meeting 2 fellow bloggers in Asheville? Penny from The Comforts Of Home and Penny of Lake Lure Cottage. Yes, two Penny's that live there. Penny on the lake has invited all of us for lunch and a boat ride. Isn't that sweet? I am so excited to meet both of these ladies, we are going to have so much fun.

Other than my shopping expeditions, not much else is new. Tomorrow we are definitely going to the lake as I have to get my bathing suit. It is supposed to be 74 degrees. I don't know if our boat has been dropped off yet from the marina where we store it over the winter. We also have 2 new additions to our shoreline this summer...kayaks! The Husband bought two last weekend. I really hope this helps me to get in shape for my son's wedding this summer. Fun times ahead.

I hope all of you have a nice, sunny, warm weekend! :-)

Well, I like yours. It looks great. Love your new dresses too.

Hi Jane, love your new outfits!... they look so pretty and feminine and what I call "prairie~girl" like, or country like... looks like they will be super comfy... and your hair, wow!... I want your hair girl!... it is absolutely stunning, which matches your personality to a tee!... I can tell how excited you are for your vacation, and how fun to meet two fellow bloggers. Would love to be at a lake somewhere right now in 70 degree weather... we are having another snowstorm right now, again!... hard to believe it is almost May... I am totally enchanted by the royal wedding, and it reminds me of fairytales with castles, queens and such... wishing you a beautiful weekend! xoxo Julie Marie

The back of your head looks great, Jane! : ) I'll have to look for that shampoo and conditioner because I'm sure my hair could use some clarifying. I'm adding Fridays to my weekends as my vacation days, which is fine by me. Even just having some time where I don't have to do anything or be anywhere on any kind of schedule will be a nice break.

Your hair looks great Jane! The good news is if you decide you don't like it straight, you can let it go curly again! I always say that my hair is proof that God has a sense of humor:@) Have a great weekend!

You have beautiful hair. My hair has been short for so long I wouldn't know what to do with long hair.
Glad you are having so much fun getting ready for your vacation. Sounds like a fun trip.
Jane

Sue said...

My sister has her hair straightened like that and she loves it. Mine, is stick straight all on its own. Plus, I keep it short for the very reason you mention...once it was short and only took a few minutes each morning, I never went back to hair that required work!

I'm ready to live vicariously through the Asheville trip. We have booked a week in Michigan in June. We decided we just wanted to go back to where we feel "at home" and do the things we love to do for a week rather than explore someplace new. I'm certainly looking forward to that.

I'm a capri girl. If they ever go out of style I don't know what I'll do. I rarely wear shorts and if I do, they are long ones.

How funny! I went about 4 weeks ago and had my hair straightened too. I LOVE IT...and it just about the same length as yours. Now here's the kicker...I looked on top of my head this morning and there is NEW GROWTH coming in curly! Go figure..but I can slap those few babies down with a bit of conditioner. This is the 2nd time I have had this done in the past 2 years. Did everyone tell you that you looked younger?;>) One of the guys at work did not recognize me from across the lobby! lol

I love your dresses-they are darling...and I always wear skirts or dresses. I find them much more comfortable than shorts or slacks~

I am so excited for you to go on vacation too...have fun! Hugs- Diana

I am going to have to look into that Keratin treatment! It takes me a half hour/45 with a ceramic iron to straighten it every 2 days. My hair isn't curly...just wavy & thick...like Guinea Pig fur. lol! I love the treatment & your cut. I like straight cut in the back (versus tapered). It's very modern. Love your dresses too. Have a great time and thanks for always leaving such sweet comments!

Hi Jane, I like your new do and dresses. I would love to be a stole away and go on vacation with you. Please take some pictures for us to share when you get home. It sounds like so much fun. Our doctors would never allow us to travel that far from home. It is exciting to get to meet some of your blogging friends. Have a great time when you go. Take care Your Missouri Friend.

Stacey said...

I have a friend who also did the keratin treatment, but she had an allergic reaction and had to wash it out. Even though she washed it, it was still straight-i guess the treatment is that strong. I have curly hair and it's a pain to deal with everyday, so i'll blow it out and flatiron it occasionally. Your hair looks very lovely btw:-). Enjoy every minute of your vacation! XX

Your hair looks GREAT and so healthy Jane! I have curly hair too, and have tried to straighten mine often but it usually makes it look unhealthy and is too much trouble, so I go back to the curls! Wash, styling gel, and scrunch... all done!

Those dresses look wonderful. I wonder if I can find something like them as I love to wear dresses and skirts in summertime.

I love your hair either way. Oldest daughter has hers straightened now and then too. I have sort of wavy/curly hair. Although I wish I could, I cannot wear it long and never have..short neck and no patience! What can I say!LOL Anyhoo...Wednesday, I got my summer spikey cut. Works great...takes a little time, but my naturally curly/wavy hair drives me up a wall in humidity.:-)

Happy Travels...I am so looking forward to trip reports!

My girl just gave me some Pureology products this past week. I've been an AVEDA girl since the 80's. As I've gotten older (and had 3 children) my hair has gotten curly. I used to pay for perms, now I use a straightener. Crazy I tell ya. Sunshine was ours today for a wee bit and very welcomed.
