~~COUNTY FAIR~~

Well, it's day 5 of our 2 week vacation up here at the lake. The first couple of days were cloudy and rainy but we managed to keep busy. And hey...we had Comcast come out so now I have a signal for my computer that won't poop out! Yay! The house is clean and we bought provisions (food), so now we are ready to let the good times roll. We started with some good old fashioned fun at the County Fair.
We are fortunate that the fair grounds are right in our town. We used to take the kids every summer and then stopped when they grew too old for it. But you're never too old for it I have learned. The food is still outstanding.
We feasted on corn dogs, french fries, giant onion rings and huge Italian sausage sandwiches along with plenty of cold pop.
I really wanted to try funnel cake but I was too stuffed. Below is The Husband chowing down.
I wonder if this picture will qualify me for Barb's Rooster Party?

The animals seemed to really like me, or they just wanted to get out of their pens.

This was a great way to spend an evening after the rain. Temps are in the low 80's so it's very comfortable. Tomorrow we travel to Indiana Amish country for an outdoor antique show. I'm curious to see what they have. Then Monday we leave for the quaint town of South Haven and I will tell you all about it. We are taking it slow and easy. Hope you are, too! :-)

Hi Jane,
I'm so glad that you are enjoying your vacation. The animals really liked posing for you, love the duck!

I haven't been to a county fair in ages and your post brought back some wonderful memories. I think I'll go the next one that comes around.

Enjoy the antique show.

You take the BEST trips! I know you are loving your time at the lake. I adore fair food. Our fair moved this year so I guess I won't be traveling for a corn dog and a funnel cake :) I definitely think you are the best qualified for the rooster party. A real one trumps a porcelain one every time! The heat index here has been 110-120 for a week. 80 sounds like heaven! Have a wonderful weekend !

I love county fairs and any kind of food festival, even the garlic festival in Gilroy, California. Whoever says chocolate covered garlic isn't good, hasn't been to Gilroy!

So glad to hear the weather is cooperating and it's not blazing hot like other parts of the country. I was back on the Gulf Coast in Florida last week and the humidity was horrible. So much nicer here on the East Coast in Georgia.

Have a wonderful time at the lake, can't wait to read about more adventures. I love that chicken, quite handsome.

Hi Jsne, I haven't been to a county fair for a long, long, long time, but oh the fun we had. Our state fair starts this next week and my daughters in-laws take their trailer before it starts and spends their vacation there. My grandson will have a blast seeing all of the animals. He went with them to take the trailer.
Thank you for sharing your pictures and thanks for the memories. Your Missouri Friend.

Oh the food, the smells of a county fair. I can just taste the fried onions. The animals probably were hoping you would feed them some of it.
Sounds like a great holiday.

Hi Jane,
Looks like a lot of fun. We used to go to the fair too and watch our daughter and how ever many kids we could fit in our car to go along. Haven't had a corn dog since then but know I'd really enjoy it, oh yeah and the fudge, the peanut butter fudge from Michigan... you know, the place Somewhere in Time was filmed, I forget the name. Gosh, I sound like a dork but hoping you know what I'm taking about here.

Yes, it looks like the animals love you. I always worry about them though and want to take all of them home to give them a good home.

Glad to hear you have good internet connection now! Enjoy your time!
