THE ROOSTER PARTY!!

Today I am going to a rooster party!! There are going to be over 150 ladies there with their roosters, and I have a few to show off myself. So here is a peek:
This is my very first rooster(s). I bought it at a Cracker Barrel while visiting my brother in southern Indiana. I had just remodeled my kitchen to a sort of French Country decor and thought this would be perfect on the counter.

This beautiful rooster picture was a gift from my sister shortly after the first rooster was bought. I love it and it is in the same spot I have always had it, near my cookbooks.

This is a close up. Sorry about the terrible quality of the pic. It almost looks like a mysterious Monet that has just turned up in France!!

This is a plate I picked up years ago from a dollar store to use as a platter. I like the simplicity, the "French" look.

It looks like it took about 40 brushstrokes to paint.

This is a plate I picked up at the lake. I think it was a dollar store find too.

Again, it has that "strutting down the streets of Provence" look.

I bought this little guy for my white kitchen. Love the crackle effect. And he is so simple...

And this is the ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life!! My word! Why would Blondie have this?? Well, I don't know about the rest of you girls, but once I heard Barb was having the Rooster Party, I went into a little panic over my "roosterlessness"! Admit it, Ladies. Some of you have to own up to buying a few more roosters for this party!!! ;-) I found this monstrosity at a markdown sort of store in South Haven, Michigan, when we were on vacation 2 weeks ago. It was only $3.00 and rightly so!! (Gawd, I hope no one collects these!!). I am thinking of using it in a giveaway. Just scare everybody away from my blog! lol!!

And I leave you with this cute little metal guy. My last rooster and my last rooster purchase. I will now confess, I do not like roosters. Or ducks. Or pineapples. Or Fleur de lis. Or crowns. I LOVE when others have collections of these. I guess I just haven't found anything I am passionate about. But I will. Until then, I'm just going to be a party crasher.
Visit our classic hostess, Barb at Bella Vista, by clicking on the rooster button on my sidebar. She has worked her little rooster tail off for this party and I thank her from the bottom of my heart. Now I'm off to visit as many participants as possible even though it may take days. it's worth it. It's a party!!
xoxo
Jane

What a gorgeous collection of roosters. Each one is lovely. I have been working on some cards designs, and they are at the printer now. Tell me which bluebird you like, and I would love to create some for you. Just e-mail me your address and I'll pop some in the mail. I have been creating cards all week. I love it.

Thank you for your inspiration.

P.S. what size would you like? When I do finally put some in my shop, I'll call them Blonde's inspiration.

Oh Janie, those "chics" are too cute, just like you! I LOVE roosters and chickens and have a kitchen full of them! My favorites are some vintage Bakelite chicken napkin rings that I gathered here and there... they are hard to come by and cost a mint, but Jack's grandma had some she let him play with when he was a little boy, you know, happy memories... I think after the comment you left me about your "lake" that you DO have a passion... soothing, calming water and relaxing times and a good cup of coffee...you post wonderful stories!... OK, if I do a giveaway (which I am going to soon, just because I can) I won't make chickens the prize! Julie Marie

Hi Jane! You don't really like Roosters? Oh, you got a good collection going on! Those plates are so cute and I love all your yard birds - even the one you think is ugly!

Oh Janie,
Your just a hoot! I refrained and didn't buy anything new, but I did feel a little bleak about my small collection! I love yours, well maybe not the blog giveaway one.hehe. I have no desire for any more roosters myself but I enjoy looking at others and their collections. (kind of like you, I haven't found something to collect that I'm passionate about) Hugs, Cindy

Can you believe I don't have one stinkin rooster in my whole house so I can't join the party!

I love your rooster collection. So funny that you've got quite a few but aren't a rooster lover. I don't particularly have any collections either although I do like plates...all kinds, love them!

Tee said...

Ok, you get a pass on not liking roosters, ducks and pineapples. But how can you not like fleur de lis?!

Wish I could have joined the rooster party, but you know where all my stuff is (starts with a B and ends with an X). And that's all the whining I'm gonna do today about that.

I'm sooo jealous - you went to the longest yard sale AND Pappadeaux's?! That's totally not fair.

Morning Jane! Well I'm laughing because I think the one you call "gaudy" is absolutely adorable and my kind of humor!!!lol I was going to be one of those ladies to purchase for the party but I restrained myself (plus I couldn't find any!!lol) Have a fun day exploring rooster land! Sincerely, Jeannette

Good grief, for a gal that doesn't like roosters, you sure have some cuties. And quite a few of them, too!!
Now, I didn't go out and buy new roosters..been collecting for years and really don't have a clue WHY. I am getting tired of them so will put most away for awhile. Then drag them out in a yr or so and love 'em all over again.
Nope..don't care for a lot of the things you listed, either. Usually what everyone else is wanting, I am NOT. ;)

Actually, the monstrosity you're talking about cracks me up. I think it's hilarious! I think it's cute, even though I can't quite figure it out. Is it one piece? Is it a rooster holding a shoe in preparation of letting the chicken try it on to see if it fits (dahhh) must be the chicken version of cinderalla? I think this piece would look really cute in a bathroom or a child's room, something to ponder while you're just sitting around doing nothing ;-)

Love your selection. Thanks for sharing!

Good morning Jane! What a fun collection of roosters you have! We carried roosters for quite a while at the store, then they sort of died off....then last year a sales rep was telling us how they took a survey, and how HOT roosters were again. Well, we decided not to bring in as many as he THOUGHT we needed, but we did have a big laugh at the thought of hosting a "big tent rooster revival" in front of the store - what a hoot that would have been!!
Enjoy your weekend!!

LOL! Janie! Your rooster (or is that a chicken?) with the raised skirt is hilarious, reminds me of Marilyn Monroe. Love your collection and you're right about us scrambling to find roosters for the party. I felt like looking for a new gown to wear to a ball. Thanks for the tips about SS. I added for them to add the button on their sidebar so why don't you do that also? LOL! I have had comments saying they will participate but then nobody does except for Chandy when she is around but I think I fail to remind people and they forget. Or maybe they think they have to go to some exotic or really exciting places to join or that it has to be a recent trip. I post trips from 2 years ago sometimes, lol, it does nto really matter when it occurred. I do not want to pressure anyone so I don't send reminders. Maybe they will eventually see SS enough and someday remember. Have a nice weekend, my friend!...Christine

In my blog you commented, and I replied....

Blondie's Journal wrote: "No matter what it said to me, that I am good or ok, it doesn't matter. I believe what I tell myself."

Wonderful! Then you can not be influenced by opinions of others. [Most of the time... -smile-] Because I think that to truly attain immunity from what-others-think, takes a long time. I'm so happy you have arrived at where you are, with this!

Hey there. I saw your comment over at Cass' and thought I would nose in.
It is my understanding that if your pictures don't enlarge when clicked on it is because you have moved them around in the post and have broken the links.
It may be better to upload them and then type in between them than to cut them and paste them around the post.
When I advised Linda at Flipside about this she said it worked.
Hope it helps.
